00:00 >> The Press: Mr. President, you started your remarks here today
00:02 by saying it was good news today with the economic report.
00:05 Why do you think most people still don't feel positive
00:09 or feel good news about the economy?
00:11 >> President Biden: Well, first of all,
00:13 you just heard the news today, too.
00:14 They haven't heard it.
00:15 I think the people -- those 300-plus thousand people
00:18 who got jobs feel better about the economy.
00:20 Look, I got to choose my words here.
00:28 You all are not the happiest people in the world,
00:30 what you report.
00:33 And I mean it sincerely.
00:34 It gets a more -- you get more legs
00:37 when you're reporting something that's negative.
00:39 I don't mean -- I don't mean you're picking on me.
00:41 I'm just -- the nature of things.
00:43 You turn on the television,
00:45 and there's not a whole lot about "Boy Saves Dog"
00:48 as he swims in the lake, you know, to say --
00:51 you know, it's about, you know,
00:52 somebody pushed a dog in the lake.
00:55 I mean, I get it, but if you just listen
01:07 to what's going on around the world,
01:09 there's reason for people to be concerned.
01:12 There's reason for people to be concerned
01:14 what's going on with -- in Russia.
01:18 There's reason to be concerned about what's going on
01:21 in other parts of the world.
01:23 I think that the American people are smart as hell
01:29 in knowing what their interests are.
01:31 I think they know they're better off financially
01:35 than they were before. It's a fact.
01:37 And all the -- all that data, all that polling stuff
01:41 shows they think they're more positive about the economy
01:44 than they've been, more positive about their jobs, et cetera.
01:47 I just think if you -- let me put it this way.
01:52 If you just watch what happened last week in the Congress,
01:55 how excited are you going to be about much of anything?
01:59 Anyway.
02:03 >> The Press: Why is he not legally trying to challenge
02:05 border wall construction?
02:06 >> The Press: Are you going to wait until there's a speaker
02:08 to make a speech on Ukraine, sir?
02:10 - Bye.
