00:00 Ever wondered about your place in the world?
00:05 Well science, the latest light show at Rochester Cathedral
00:09 looks to answer those questions and more.
00:13 Whether you're a believer of science or religion, this exhibit here at Rochester Cathedral
00:18 lets you explore both sides in an incredible visual
00:22 and audio sound and light scape.
00:25 It's an immersive experience here inside this beautiful cathedral in Rochester
00:29 and it essentially takes people on a journey through the history of the sciences.
00:35 So as people walk around the building, pretty much every inch of this cathedral is bathed in light,
00:41 multiple sound artworks that take them through such things as DNA, molecules, equations,
00:48 scientific discovery, anatomy, psychology, ending up here in the nave,
00:54 taking people on a historic walk through the history of science from Aristotle to the digital age that we live in today.
01:03 But people are still struggling with the cost of living crisis,
01:07 so what have Rochester Cathedral done to make science as accessible as possible?
01:12 We don't charge admission normally, we're free to enter and that's always the case.
01:19 But for this obviously we have to charge a little bit because of the sheer cost of putting it on,
01:23 but we try and keep the price as low as possible so that people can come and have a nice evening,
01:28 have a good time, learn a bit and experience something that is really very different.
01:33 You can't do this in many other places and we're combining the ancient and the modern
01:38 because science has been around a very long time of course,
01:43 but modern science is cutting edge, that's what we're interested in,
01:48 Covid vaccines and all these things that have been going on, but also this is a very ancient building.
01:53 People have been coming here for 1400 years to pray, to visit, to come as pilgrims.
02:01 People used to come to visit shrines here as saints, now they come to experience light shows.
02:07 It's the same but different.
02:09 I'm very impressed by the projections and the artistry behind it.
02:14 It's very good indeed and for all ages and especially for children.
02:20 Yes, because they all think science is such a difficult subject etc.
02:26 and it's not, when it's done like this they know exactly what they're doing.
02:30 It's lovely.
02:32 The show will be going on until Saturday 7th October.
02:36 Henry Luck, TheCayenTV in Rochester.
