00:00 And in college they push, push, push on the ball.
00:02 So a little bit.
00:04 >> In high school, did you play more before?
00:07 >> No, I was a guard.
00:07 >> You were a guard?
00:08 >> Yes, sir.
00:09 >> That's a big guard.
00:09 >> Yes, sir.
00:10 >> For high school, for sure.
00:11 >> All right.
00:12 >> I don't have anything else.
00:12 You got anything else?
00:13 >> I talked to Coach G for a little bit, and we talked a lot about your game and
00:16 the off season and player development and everything.
00:19 What's kind of your relationship like with him?
00:20 And just working with him on a daily basis,
00:22 cuz he says you live in the gym and just a workhorse.
00:24 So what's it kind of like just being with him?
00:26 >> Right, I love Coach G.
00:28 Again, I was talking to him when Vanderbilt, and I really love talking to him.
00:33 So just Coach G, I love that he loves to be in the gym.
00:35 I needed somebody like that in my life here in college, cuz I also wanna continue
00:39 to grow my game constantly and learn the ins and outs before season comes.
00:43 So I don't have to have that learning curve.
00:44 So I just appreciate Coach G for helping me learn and being in the gym.
00:49 >> Your freshman season's gonna have a lot of lights on you guys,
00:51 a lot of expectations, a lot of hype.
00:53 Is it kind of overwhelming being a true freshman walking into a scene
00:57 kind of like this?
00:58 >> I wouldn't say overwhelming.
01:00 Like I said, the people I have around me have kept me humble and grounded.
01:04 And they've uplifted me as I've gotten here.
01:05 So I think they have my back.
01:08 >> The freshman class has got a lot of hype.
01:10 Obviously, it's the number one class in the country.
01:11 Have you kind of bonded with your new teammates,
01:13 specifically the freshman class?
01:15 And how are you guys kind of coming into your own?
01:17 >> We were here in the summer together.
01:19 So those are, I would say, my best friends.
01:22 We've gotten so close together.
01:24 And I just hope to continue these four years out with them.
01:27 >> When you're playing alongside people as special as Hailey VanLift,
01:30 Flau'jae, Angel, what do you kind of take from their game in order to develop yours
01:34 to get to that next level as well?
01:35 >> Right, I think they've been in the college level before.
01:38 So just learning the international game and
01:42 what Coach Markey expects out of you in the game is something I don't have.
01:45 >> For yourself, what are kind of a couple of personal goals that you're looking
01:47 forward to this season?
01:48 >> I wanna be the best I can be on defense.
01:53 I think that's one of the biggest things, learning how to play defense.
01:56 And I might be faster, not having fouls, not foul trouble.
02:00 So that's the biggest thing.
02:01 >> Your shooting ability is something that's extremely special for
02:03 somebody your age.
02:05 Coming into this year, do you think that's something that this team's gonna rely on
02:07 a little bit more, cuz you can spread the floor so well?
02:10 >> I think I can bring that to the game as well.
02:12 >> And then the backcourt, obviously it's super talented.
02:16 You're kind of a combo guard type thing.
02:17 You can play kind of everywhere on the perimeter.
02:20 What's so special about your game and what kind of is your game?
02:24 >> I think the versatility of it, I can do it all.
02:27 I can rebound, I can shoot, I can score off the dribble, I can play defense.
02:32 So I think me being versatile and
02:34 being able to play wherever Coach Markey wants me is the biggest thing.
02:36 >> What's that next step in your game to kind of become that complete player that
02:39 you're looking forward to becoming?
02:40 >> The next step, I would say, is that conditioning thing, that mental block.
02:45 Just pushing through and pushing through and pushing through and
02:48 staying in shape.
02:50 >> For Aaliyah, it seems like she was kind of saying the exact same thing.
02:53 It's conditioning, getting used to the practice, regimen type of thing.
02:56 Do you feel like you're kind of getting into that groove,
02:58 even though it's a small sample size, just kind of a week to this point?
03:01 >> Right, I feel like I'm getting in a groove.
