Transcript
00:00 >> Are you excited to play in the SEC, especially with the season like the best
00:04 conferences this year that level of competition?
00:07 >> Yes, I want to play with the best teams and the best players,
00:10 because it does nothing but challenge me and make me better.
00:13 So I would say that I'm definitely glad to be in the SEC.
00:17 >> People aren't gonna be familiar with your game, and I've seen a lot of it.
00:20 So kinda get everybody here at the speed of the story.
00:22 So what do you wanna bring?
00:24 What have you brought, and what do you want to bring?
00:26 I know rebounding, you said.
00:27 >> Yeah, I would say that I've brought my rebounding presence, my inside presence.
00:32 But nobody has seen my guard play or me knock down threes, how I've been.
00:36 And I've been in the gym working, so nobody has been able to see that stretch
00:41 four or that three that I can play.
00:45 >> Is that what you feel like you're gonna be here?
00:47 >> Yes.
00:48 >> How tall are you?
00:49 >> Six feet.
00:50 >> Okay.
00:50 >> [LAUGH]
00:53 >> Flau'jae was saying that's the basketball.
00:54 >> I was about to say that too.
00:56 >> [LAUGH] >> It looks like a four to me, and
00:58 she wants to be a four.
00:59 So it's like- >> Flau'jae was saying that you're one of
01:01 her favorite players on the team,
01:02 that you two kinda clicked instantly once you got to campus.
01:04 What's kinda your relationship with her, both on and off the floor?
01:07 >> It's been great, I love Flau'jae.
01:10 She just has this knack about her, I just love her work ethic.
01:14 You can't teach that, and I love to be around people that have a work ethic like
01:18 mine. >> What's it kinda like seeing her
01:19 balance, both rap career, basketball?
01:22 >> Yes, with her being so young and being able to balance,
01:25 just seeing that she has her priorities together, it's great.
01:28 >> Can you talk about your pursuit of the basketball?
01:30 Not many six foot girls can be in the top three or four nations,
01:33 rebounding, but there's something about a desire.
01:35 >> Yeah. >> You can't just,
01:37 it has to be part of it.
01:39 >> Yeah, I would definitely say it's a desire.
01:42 Coming out of high school, I shot a lot of threes.
01:44 I was a point guard in semi-I, won a national,
01:47 I'm talking about national championship.
01:48 >> [LAUGH] >> Won a city championship and
01:51 state championship.
01:53 But when you got in college, it was just different.
01:57 And I'm like, dang, if I'm not knocking down shots, if I'm not able to do this,
02:00 how can I help my team?
02:02 I never wanted to hurt my team, and I knew that I could never hurt my team
02:05 with getting a rebound and putting the ball back or getting on the foul line.
02:09 So that was something that I just prided myself off a lot, and
02:13 it's something that I worked towards and practiced every day.
02:16 >> When did the narrative change as a girl from Chicago,
02:18 who probably thought she would play her college career in Chicago,
