10 Video Game Weapons You Cheated To Get

00:00 Video game cheats go back a long way, and as such they've evolved over time.
00:04 It's not always about pushing in preordained codes, although that is one way to go, but
00:08 it can include all manner of things.
00:10 Perhaps you took advantage of an oversight in a system, rifled through the code to find
00:14 hidden content, or simply stumbled into something that the developers made a mistake on.
00:18 I'm Sy for WhatCulture.com and these are 10 Video Game Weapons You Cheated To Get.
00:23 10.
00:24 Daedric Weapons - Skyrim
00:26 Crafting Daedric armour and weapons in Skyrim is a time-consuming process at the best of
00:30 times, but as the best equipment in the game, it's an investment that pays off along your
00:34 journey.
00:35 Or you can cheat and get it before your journey really starts, as it's possible to get it
00:39 before you've even levelled up once.
00:41 The full list of components is long, but most of the process involves being very patient
00:45 and making many safety saves, because there's a lot of fever erefoot.
00:49 Guides exist to tell players the best location to acquire the likes of Ebony Ingot, Void
00:54 Salt and the ever-important Daedra Hearts.
00:56 The player will also, very importantly, need a wooden plate.
01:00 This cheat uses a couple of glitches.
01:02 First of all, the Hall of Attainment in the College of Winterhold has a slight boundary
01:06 break glitch.
01:07 Whilst sprinting at a particular pillar with the plate equipped, it's possible to see
01:10 a chest containing the Sigil Stone, an important key to crafting your Daedric wares.
01:16 Furthermore, players only really need to collect one of every ingredient, as an item duplication
01:20 glitch using a companion will eventually get them everything they need.
01:24 It's a long process, but it's absolutely possible to get Daedric equipment as a level
01:28 one character.
01:29 Considering just how replayable Skyrim is with its seemingly endless list of build ideas,
01:34 playing the whole game with the best wares is definitely one way to go, if you've got
01:38 the skills and the patience.

01:40 Gold PP7 - 007 Goldeneye
01:43 Goldeneye, it's fair to say, is just more fun with cheats, and the game has given players
01:47 dozens of hours of entertainment with the likes of DK mode and paintball mode.
01:51 Amongst those, of course, is the weapon cheat, which grants players access to the game's
01:55 full armoury, including those that don't otherwise show up elsewhere in the title.
01:59 The Gold PP7, of course, is quite similar to the Golden Gun, except it's only ever
02:04 available via cheats.
02:05 Unlike the Golden Gun's single round chamber, the Gold PP7 can fire a full round of bullets
02:10 before it needs reloading.
02:12 It's one of the most powerful weapons in the game, and more than that, looks flashy
02:15 as hell.
02:16 And when it comes to split-screen multiplayer, beating your opponent isn't enough - you
02:19 want to look good doing it.
02:21 Furthermore, the Gold PPK's insta-kill bullets can be taken into the campaign, and if timed
02:26 correctly, can even kill bosses in a single hit, making the entire game a brilliant, hilarious
02:31 cakewalk.
02:32 The cheat options in Goldeneye are baked into the game, unlocking one by one upon overcoming
02:36 challenging speedrun attempts in the campaign.
02:39 Or, like most people did, you can just put in a string of button inputs and skip your
02:43 way merrily into gold-plated destruction.
02:45 8.
02:46 Flamethrower - Halo 2
02:48 The Bungie era of Halo and the Flamethrower have a long and complex history.
02:52 It actually goes way back into the franchise's development, even appearing in Halo Combat
02:56 Evolved's 1999 E3 trailer.
02:59 However, the gun was cut from the Xbox release of the game.
03:03 That said, the flame-spewing M7057 did make its way into the series by the time of the
03:07 PC version, and became this kind of elusive thing that PC players had over the console
03:13 faithful.
03:14 That being said, Halo 2 is on the way, and surely this time, right?
03:16 Not so much, as despite it being planned, it was yet again removed from the final game.
03:21 In fact, everyone could commiserate together, as this time it didn't even return for PC
03:25 players either.
03:26 Although, this wouldn't stop fans from doing their best to correct this.
03:30 Mods are, among many other things, a logical conclusion for cheat codes.
03:34 When fans came across a copy of the Halo 2 beta on disc, which contained the unfinished
03:38 weapon, they found a way to port it into the actual version of Halo 2.
03:43 More than this, in fact, this beta revealed the Disintegrator, essentially a plasma-fuelled
03:47 alien equivalent to the Flamethrower.
03:50 As such, fans were also able to put this back into the game.
03:53 Two flame-belching armaments for the price of one.
03:55 7.
03:56 Sicilian Slicer - Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
03:59 The original Legend of Zelda is home to a classic video game secret.
04:03 When prompted to name their hero at the start of the game, if the player enters Zelda rather
04:07 than Link, their own name, or a preferred curse word, then the title will unlock the
04:11 second quest mode early.
04:13 This means you can jump right into a more challenging version of the game from the off.
04:17 A few titles have done their own spin on this, and Bloodstained Ritual of the Night has a
04:21 bevy of names the player could try out, most of which are based on YouTubers and online
04:25 personalities.
04:26 These were designed as a way to promote the title, with each channel showing off a unique
04:30 piece of equipment for the game, which rolled out to all players on release.
04:34 The best of the bunch, purely for giggles, is the Sicilian Slicer, created by and for
04:38 Stephen Plays.
04:40 Forget daggers, swords, axes and whips, this allows you to fight demons off with a large,
04:44 rigid slice of pizza.
04:45 It's definitely a sight to behold, and the novelty - not to mention a description that
04:49 is oozing like melted cheese with puns - makes it worth having, even if it's not all that
04:54 good.
04:55 6.
04:56 Mayan Heart - Final Fantasy VIII
04:57 There's a great many systems in FFVIII that were proof of Square experimenting with the
05:01 formula, and one of these is the weapon upgrade system.
05:05 Unlike other games in the series, better weapons can't be found in the wild, and instead
05:08 players must craft them, predating the wave of similar systems in modern games.
05:12 And like many other systems in Final Fantasy VIII, it's easy enough to exploit.
05:16 Now, this isn't cheating by everyone's measure, it's just taking advantage of loopholes,
05:20 right?
05:21 Although it's fair to say Squaresoft weren't intending you to have the main character squall
05:24 Leonhart's most powerful weapon, the Lionheart, about a quarter of the way into the story.
05:30 The enemies in Final Fantasy VIII level as the player does, so with careful-minded battling
05:33 it's possible to abuse this.
05:35 The creature Grendel, strangely, has the chance of dropping Dragon Fang, one of the three
05:39 required items, but only if it matches the player's level of 20 or below.
05:44 From here it's a matter of winning a bunch of the in-world trading card game to get certain
05:47 cards that can be refined into energy crystals and then pulse ammo.
05:51 And finally, hunting down an adamantoise to grab some adamantium.
05:55 Doing all of this means you can have the Lionheart well before you ever finish the first disc
05:59 of FFVIII's four, which is certainly not what the developers intended.
06:03 5.
06:04 Street Sweeper - Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War
06:07 Cheating at its core is about doing what you shouldn't, but if your parent or guardian
06:11 leaves the cookie jar out, then it's hard to resist.
06:13 The Street Sweeper is a fully automatic shotgun that was due to be added to Call of Duty's
06:17 Warzone mode as part of the mid-season update.
06:21 Somehow a few switches on the back end seem to have been activated early, however.
06:25 Players by pure chance began to unlock the gun before it was officially launched, as
06:29 the method to get it was rather straightforward - make three kills with shotguns in 15 matches.
06:34 It spread quickly that the Street Sweeper had arrived, and most players didn't care
06:37 why, instead racing to get it as soon as possible.
06:40 It was especially desirable because of the progression being tied between Warzone and
06:44 Cold War, meaning players could take it from the former into the latter.
06:48 Also it was really rather good, meaning the players with it often had an advantage.
06:52 Developers Treyarch caught onto this, trying their best to clamp down on it.
06:56 It eventually launched as intended, but like stealing from the cookie jar, it was way more
07:00 fun when you weren't supposed to have it.
07:02 4.
07:03 Carboard Tube - Hitman Contracts
07:05 Gold-plated guns and super impressive swords are one thing, but the best kind of ultimate
07:09 weapon is one that doesn't take itself seriously at all.
07:12 A perfect example of this is in Hitman Contracts' Carboard Tube, which looks exactly how it
07:17 sounds but packs one hell of a wallop.
07:19 Despite its components, this simple piece of garbage winds up being the most overpowered
07:23 weapon in the game.
07:24 Not only is it capable of one-hit kills, it also sends any poor foe stupid enough to get
07:28 in its way flying through the air.
07:30 It's not just the most powerful weapon in Contracts, but in the entire series, and it's
07:34 also hilarious too.
07:35 Apparently, the tube is a reward for beating the training level of the game with a silent
07:39 assassin ranking, but this seems to be nigh on or perhaps entirely impossible.
07:43 As such, thankfully there is a cheat code to get it in the form of a button input on
07:47 console or the console command IOI penny.
07:50 The latter of these is actually a reference to webcomic penny arcade, which is where the
07:54 idea of an overpowered cardboard tube comes from to begin with.
07:58 Who needs stealth or even guns when you can lie in wait and obliterate any enemy who gets
08:02 close enough with your metre of cylindrical cardboard?
08:05 3.
08:06 The Rhino - The Grand Theft Auto Series
08:08 When it comes to cheat codes and the carnage you can make with them, few games do it better
08:12 than Grand Theft Auto.
08:13 On the one hand, the games do variety extremely well, making it possible to change your character
08:18 model, cause pedestrians to act more aggressively, and even turn off gravity.
08:22 You can also spawn certain vehicles or indeed full sets of weapons.
08:26 But the best of them all, and the go-to for every cheat code-fuelled GTA rampage, is the
08:30 best of both worlds.
08:32 Both a vehicle and a weapon, every Grand Theft Auto player has memories of spawning the Rhino
08:36 tank and saying "no world, you shut up".
08:38 Now it's not like this death machine is exclusive to cheaters.
08:42 In every GTA game, from 3 onward, it's possible to find one in the wild.
08:46 However, they characteristically tend to be found at well-defended military bases for
08:50 very good reason.
08:51 Thus, actually getting yourself into the seat of one of these bad boys is a lot of trouble
08:55 when you could just as easily tap a few buttons and make one fall from the sky for you.
08:59 The Rhino tank is the quickest way to mayhem and a maxed out wanted level, which are really
09:03 one in the same.
09:04 2.
09:05 The Faderator - Fallout New Vegas
09:08 The world of Fallout is a scary and dangerous one, unless you have the Faderator in your
09:12 inventory which quite simply turns everything into a triviality.
09:16 This super-powered sniper rifle is, at first glance, a copy of the game's already existing
09:20 Gorse rifle.
09:21 It's when players try it out that they'll discover how amazing it is.
09:24 Not only does it use less ammo and have a higher capacity than its sibling, it's capable
09:29 of firing three rounds at a time at fully automatic speeds, meaning it deals lots of
09:33 damage and fast.
09:35 It's also incredibly accurate in VATS, where it fires four blasts of three shots, dealing
09:40 an insane amount of damage.
09:42 This and the fact that it can be found in the debugging room has led fans to speculate
09:45 that it was never designed for the game.
09:48 The developers likely beefed up the Gorse rifle to make playtesting easy by getting
09:51 through combat as quickly as possible.
09:54 But naturally, that didn't stop fans from finding the necessary console command, going
09:57 into this test chamber and bringing the Faderator out into the wasteland to rain destruction
10:02 down on every poor radscorpion they came across.
10:05 Players even found a way to get it in the Xbox 360 version, but with the weapon being
10:09 unstable at best, it can cause the game to chug and freeze.
10:13 1.
10:14 Cytongrat - Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age
10:17 Final Fantasy XII's rarest weapons fly in the face of the completionist nature of many
10:21 RPG fans.
10:23 Cytongrat, a literally invisible bow, is part of a set of ultimate weapons added for
10:27 the game's Zodiac Age re-release and is the most powerful tool in the game.
10:31 All you need to do is open a chest on the game's Sky Ferry, accept that the chest has
10:35 a 1% chance of spawning, is invisible when it does so, and has a further 20% chance of
10:40 including the weapon when it even does appear.
10:43 With probabilities like that, it was almost like Square were begging players to cheat
10:46 or find a way to confuse the game into rewarding them with Cytongrat.
10:51 Which is exactly what they did.
10:53 Obviously, Cytongrat's likelihood to appear is all based on random number generator machines
10:57 in the code, which fans spent time studying.
11:00 Simply make an autosave on the ferry and load a save at the start of the game.
11:03 Here, one must continually heal themselves with a cure spell until three particular numbers
11:08 appear in the right order to guarantee that the chest shows when reloading the previous
11:12 autosave.
11:13 Then, of all things, it's all about the timing of pushing the X button when a certain
11:17 NPC reaches the top of the stairs for the fourth time.
11:21 It's a bizarre few hoops to jump through, but it sure as well beats gambling on the
11:24 contents of an elusive invisible chest.
11:27 And that's the list!
