Tel Aviv, Israel: Daniel Carmon, Former Israeli Ambassador to India says " A state of war was declared yesterday. A war launched by a terrorist organisation called Hamas from Gaza. A terrorist organisation that during the past years has gained both political strength and military strength. It has become an army and the surprise attack that happened yesterday hit the country of Israel. Hundreds of terrorists probably have infiltrated the territory of Israel. We don't have the final numbers yet, but we're talking about more or less 300 people being massacred. Children, elderly, women, men, families, people who were in the middle of a festival not far away from that massacre...Israel's response will not be very gentle. Israel will respond very forcefully. We appreciate very much the international support that we get from so many countries. Prime Minister Modi tweeted a very clear and unequivocal message of solidarity of the Indian people. This is something which is very important to us in such a difficult and tragic day that we are going through."

00:00 a state of war was declared yesterday,
00:05 a war launched by a terrorist organization called Hamas
00:10 from Gaza, a terrorist organization that during the past
00:15 years has gained both political strength
00:20 and military strength. It has become actually an army.
00:25 And a surprise attack that happened during a Sabbath,
00:30 Saturday, the holy day of the week, and a holiday,
00:35 two combined in one day, a huge surprise
00:40 hit the country of Israel, a huge surprise
00:45 by which hundreds of terrorists probably
00:50 have infiltrated the territory of Israel.
00:55 And what we have seen is a combined launch of rockets
01:00 towards central and south Israel, intercepted almost all of them
01:05 as usual by Iron Dome. Parallel to this, there was this
01:10 infiltration of terrorists and a real massacre,
01:15 a terrible massacre occurred in localities
01:20 and towns of southern Israel. We don't have the final numbers
01:25 yet, but we're talking about more or less 300 people
01:30 massacred, killed, children, elderly,
01:35 women, men, families, babies,
01:40 people who were in the middle of a festival, not far away from that
01:45 massacre. The terrible, humane stories you would
01:50 not believe. People burned in their own homes
01:55 by the terrorists. I mean, you cannot believe. And I know that there are
02:00 many videos that are going on the net.
02:05 We don't see them. We didn't see many of them. They're not broadcast
02:10 in Israel. I know that outside of Israel, there are more
02:15 broadcasted than within. So yes, we are
02:20 in a state of war, and in the war we will act like during the war.
02:25 And the Israeli response will not be
02:30 a very gentle one. On the contrary, Israel will respond
02:35 very forcefully. We appreciate very much the international
02:40 support that we get from so many countries. Prime Minister Modi
02:45 tweeted a very clear and unequivocal
02:50 message of solidarity of the Indian people. And I have to tell you on
02:55 a personal level that I got hundreds of personal
03:00 messages from friends in India, not to speak about the millions.
03:05 I think there are millions of tweets from people within India who are
03:10 sending us solidarity, love and big hugs
03:15 from India. This is something which is very important to us in
03:20 such a difficult and tragic world.
03:25 and never miss an update.
