00:14 here with these 8 facts. Born in Oslo, Norway in 1997, Hovland began
00:21 playing golf at the age of 11 after his father, who worked in America, bought him some clubs.
00:27 His dad taught him how to play and he regularly practiced at an indoor driving range in Oslo.
00:32 He learned English by watching movies, including a lot of historical dramas such as Lincoln
00:37 and Amistad. Hovland attended Oklahoma State University,
00:40 the same college as Ricky Fowler, hence why he wears a lot of orange. He was a teammate
00:45 of fellow young star Matthew Wolfe, who plays on tour currently, and Hovland still lives
00:51 in Stillwater, Oklahoma today. Hovland won the US Amateur in 2018, becoming
00:56 the first Norwegian to win that event in the process. This earned him invitations to the
01:01 2019 Masters, Open and US Open. At that 2019 US Open, he finished in a tie for 12th, with
01:08 a total of 280. This was the lowest score ever recorded by an amateur in the tournament's
01:14 119-year history, beating Jack Nicklaus's 282 from 1960.
01:20 He turned pro as the world's number one ranked amateur after winning the low amateur honours
01:25 at the Masters and the US Open. He became the first man since Matt Kuchar in 1998 to
01:31 achieve that feat. When it comes to music, Viktor Hovland is

01:40 Tool. In September 2019, Hovland equaled Bob Estes'
01:44 1983 PGA Tour record of 17 consecutive rounds in the 60s. Hovland would then go on to break
01:50 that record, which now sits at 19 consecutive rounds in the 60s. That's a record that will
01:55 take some beating. His favourite golfer growing up was Sergio
01:58 Garcia and sticking with his enjoyment of all things Spanish, Hovland's favourite golf
