00:00 Jews in France say they`re worried that the Palestinian militant attack on Israel could
00:04 fan anti-Semitic hatred against their community.
00:08 Estimated at over half a million people, France`s Jewish population is the third largest in
00:13 the world. France is also home to more than 5 million people of Arab descent, its second
00:19 largest ethnic group.
00:20 "The increase in violence there is one of the reasons that pushes communities to attack
00:30 each other in France too often, when very often it is for bad reasons and for things
00:36 that have nothing to do with it."
00:37 "As soon as Israel retaliates violently, and it doesn't take long, there will be an
00:44 explosion of the suburbs automatically. And there will be a lot of security problems
00:48 in France. It seems logical to me."

00:56 to be stepped up around synagogues and Jewish schools, particularly in Paris and its suburbs.
01:02 He said there`d been a handful of anti-Semitic acts, but the police responded and made arrests.
