00:02 - Hi, I'm Randy Vance.
00:13 I'm on Table Rock Lake today
00:15 on BassCat's brand new Caracal STS.
00:18 That is 20 foot, two inches of high performance bass boat,
00:22 fishability, and an awesome mercury motor.
00:24 I'm gonna walk you through it, so come on aboard.
00:27 Now our test boat's equipped with a 250 horsepower V8 motor,
00:31 which gets us to speeds of 75 or higher.
00:34 If that's not fast enough for you,
00:36 add a 300 and you're gonna go to the mid 80s.
00:39 The Caracal helm station is all new for BassCat
00:45 and it gives you room for a 12 inch display.
00:48 But a lot of anglers are gonna use balls out mounts
00:51 and they're gonna put two larger displays on the dash
00:53 and you'll have plenty of view over them
00:55 and a great picture of the water underneath.
00:58 I like the fact that you have this interactive
01:00 touch panel switching system here.
01:02 It's waterproof, good throttle position,
01:05 and you've got a TH marine foot throttle down below
01:08 to give you ultimate control on a performance day.
01:11 To keep your phone handy, there's an X-Brace phone mount
01:14 by Ram mount down below the helm.
01:17 Now the cockpit is well appointed.
01:18 The first thing you're going to notice when you sit down
01:20 is an extra wide helm seat.
01:23 Plus you've got thick bolsters there
01:24 that keeps you snug even in choppy water.
01:27 The passenger gets a seat just like yours.
01:30 He's also got a rod rack there that'll hold five rods.
01:33 I like the fact that there's footsteps there
01:35 for him to brace himself in.
01:37 And when you go up to the bow deck,
01:39 you've got a step there with a cooler underneath.
01:42 But you've also got a center step here to get to the aft deck
01:45 lift up the top lid and you've got dry storage,
01:48 lift up the entire step and there's a cooler underneath.
01:51 Now the deck is carpeted with 28 ounce.
01:54 It's very plush carpet and it gives you a nice soft place
01:57 to stand all day long.
01:59 There's lots of cool things under the deck.
02:01 First of all, you've got a day locker right here.
02:04 All the tackle that you're going to need for the day,
02:06 you can put that right in there.
02:08 Now on the port side, you've got a rod locker
02:09 that's got an organizer in it for nine rods.
02:12 On the starboard side, there's another rod locker there,
02:14 but you organize it the way you want to
02:16 or just use it for dry storage.
02:18 You've got a center box all set up
02:20 to take your 3,700 tackle boxes.
02:22 And when you step back, this locker
02:24 has a cool lure hanger in it that's ideal
02:26 for spinner baits and buzz baits.
02:28 Now there's a couple of cool details we want to talk about.
02:31 As you can see, you've got a place to lay your rods
02:33 along either side and the doors are tapered.
02:36 What that means is you can lift that door up
02:38 to get to more rods without knocking out the rods
02:41 that you've already got on deck.
02:43 Also, look at these hatches.
02:45 No water dripping through the latch
02:46 is going to go into the compartment.
02:49 And every hatch compartment is LED lighted.
02:51 Now you've got two positions here for your bow seat
02:54 if you want one on deck.
02:56 Look at how this is designed.
02:57 You've got a stair step design that lets you put
03:00 two large displays there on the gimbal
03:03 without special mounts.
03:04 You've got a socket for your foot pedal.
03:06 And over here, you've got switches
03:08 for your navigation lights, your battery, and a volt meter.
03:11 And you've even got a luminous cup holder here.
03:14 Now there's a lot of important things
03:16 going on on the aft deck.
03:18 Let's take a look at the livewells first.
03:20 They're triangular.
03:21 That makes them extra deep so your fish have plenty of water.
03:24 And it stops the sloshing so they're not
03:26 taking a beating all day long.
03:28 When you lift up the tackle storage doors on either side,
03:31 you've got a small triangular hatch here.
03:34 Lift that up, and that gives you access to your power pole
03:37 pumps should you choose to add those to the boat.
03:40 I like the way they've designed the aft hatches to the bilge.
03:43 You lift them up, slide them off,
03:46 and they're out of the way while you work on pumps and batteries
03:49 and everything else.
03:50 There's a non-skid pad on the starboard side transom.
03:53 And on the port side transom, you've
03:55 got a large ladder with a non-skid pad there
03:57 and a grab handle to help bring you back aboard
03:59 if you take a splash.
04:01 Right here in the splash well is your fuel tank selector valve.
04:04 You carry 26 gallons on either side,
04:07 and you get to choose where you're burning from.
04:09 We've also got an optional 8-inch jack plate on board.
04:12 It's a Bob's Machine shop, one of the best in the marketplace.
04:15 Both the forward aft decks and the cockpit are LED lighted.
04:19 Now, one of the things that makes the Bass Cat Caracal
04:22 so exciting is all of the trim and style on board.
04:25 Now, that's pretty much all Bass Cat.
04:28 You've got billeted grab rails here with LED lighting.
04:31 I like the billeted floor drain.
04:32 That's going to go fast if you take one over the bow
04:35 in really rough water.
04:36 You've got cleats tucked back in the sides
04:38 so they're not sticking out.
04:40 On midship, you've got fold-away cleats
04:42 to make it easy to pull up to the dock and secure the boat.
04:45 You'll also find several trim plates under the switches.
04:48 They have a Damascus metal look.
04:50 But look at the forward part of the console.
04:53 That one's set up so that if you want tool holders there,
04:56 cut the slots out, and then you can put in pliers and a knife.
04:59 Now, if you're looking for a premium quality bass boat
05:02 with all the features you need to be competitive,
05:04 it's going to be hard to beat the Caracal STS.
05:07 I'm Randy Vance on Table Rock Lake.
