00:00 The James Webb Space Telescope is designed to conduct infrared astronomy.
00:04 The Webb Telescope is a product between NASA, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency.
00:10 It's around three stories tall and as wide as a tennis court, with mirrors over six times bigger
00:15 in area than the Hubble. Its higher resolution and high sensitivity instruments allow it to view
00:20 objects too old, distant or faint for the Hubble Space Telescope. And it has been invaluable in
00:26 providing researchers insight into the first stars and first formations of the first galaxies.
00:32 It was initially launched in December 2021 and it arrived to its final destination in January 2022
00:38 with its first image revealed to the public in July 2022.
00:42 It was created with the hope that it could answer the big questions about the cosmos.
