00:00 The Bureau of Immigration asked for help from the NBI and the DFA to find out why the Philippines has a legitimate passport to some countries.
00:09 The Department of Justice also looked into the issue of the BIP treatment of illegal immigrants.
00:16 That is the joint force led by Cedric Castillo and Ivan Mayrina.
00:23 On October 3, the Bureau of Immigration arrested three Pakistani nationals who were suspected of being members of a local terrorist group.
00:30 But the basis of the arrest was overstaying or being undocumented.
00:35 No travel documents or passports were presented.
00:38 One of them showed a legitimate national ID, while the other showed a driver's license indicating that he is a Filipino citizen.
00:45 This was followed by the following arrests at the airport of foreigners with a legitimate Philippine passport.
00:51 This concern is really something that can affect the national security issue.
01:01 We forwarded it to the issuing authority and to the National Bureau of Investigation to investigate and find the source of these documents.
01:11 The arrests of Filipinos with a Philippine passport are not new.
01:14 The difference is, the passport holders of the last foreign citizens are now black and not white, even though the Philippines should have a Philippine passport.
01:24 Aside from the investigation conducted by the NBI, the Immigration Department of the Department of Foreign Affairs also investigated the agency that has the authority to issue a Philippine passport.
01:34 It's really high time that there will be a crackdown against the syndicates that are part of this,
01:40 whether it be from the government or from the private sector.
01:44 We are trying to get permission from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
01:48 Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulia also investigated the issue of illegal VIP treatment for those who enter the country illegally.
01:58 He also obtained information on the price of illegal entry for this.
02:03 We have information on blacklisted persons who can travel out or in.
02:10 The price of an escort service is already P150,000 for blacklisted persons.
02:17 And you have to look at the structure again on how it happens.
02:22 DOJ is investigating if there are syndicates inside the Bureau of Immigration that have a passport for the Diomanoy Escort Service.
02:30 Despite this, Justice Secretary Remulia still has confidence in Immigration Commissioner Norman Tancinco.
02:38 Oh yes, it's still okay. But there are things that have to be addressed and answered.
02:44 This is not an overnight problem. This has been a problem for the longest time.
02:52 In a statement, Tancinco said that the Bureau of Immigration is already aware of the movement of the syndicates inside the BI.
03:00 He also mentioned their possible links to trafficking, which is a heavy punishment against this.
03:08 For GMA Integrated News, Cedric Castillo.
03:11 And I'm Ivan Meyrina. We have a break of 24 hours.
03:17 The DFA said that they are already communicating with other agencies regarding this issue.
03:22 They are seriously alleging that there are black passports that were issued to non-Filipinos.
