00:10 All right, all right, all right, all right, let's start
00:14 All right. So last episode I yabbered on the yam yam yam yam yammering on
00:22 For 15 minutes before I got to the game
00:24 with a black
00:28 Backpack, how dare I?
00:30 Well, i'm not going to yammer on that much although I will have to read things
00:36 and you'll probably hear like a change in the tone because I'm not going to get the
00:41 I'm not muting it this music
00:44 While I talk so hopefully you can hear me
00:48 and uh
00:51 Let's get started
00:53 (Music)
00:55 Hear it true, I mean the lack of sound
01:21 Quiescent oh boy. Well, you know, I have never heard that before quiescent
01:26 Quiescent
01:31 I'm a writer I should know this word anyway
01:37 Quiescent
01:40 Is what you call it?
01:42 When birds still go and not a squirrel calls to another from tree to tree
01:46 Happens when a big animal rushes by like a man running for his life
01:51 The forest is quiet to the south and that's where the assassin's gone
01:55 Let's be after him and done with it then not an hour's work. I hope

03:00 - Foul artifacts.
03:01 Would that I could summon oblivion itself to devour them.
03:04 But no, not these.
03:06 We're obliged to carry them along.
03:08 Believe it.
03:10 What I can sense tells me this.
03:12 They embrace secrets to the plot against Delt.
03:16 They hold the truth in it, in their vulgar auras.
03:19 The truth of it in their vulgar auras.
03:21 Take them along for now.
03:24 Let the priests of the Helm deal with their evil
03:27 at the proper time.
03:29 This other is Delt's amulet.
03:31 Gather it as well.

03:55 - By Helm, we're losing the light.
03:57 Look there, a fog rolls in as though it were devour us.
04:01 Ah! The mist creeps on, as if to foretell our doom!
04:05 I am at work, so I can't really yell.
04:08 [Laughter]
04:10 Do you sense it? Look about.
04:35 This is not where we stood a moment ago. It seems most unnatural.
04:40 Yeah, so I'm not even going to try to do a voice for a woman. I'm just going to speak her part. Anyway.
04:50 Lord Delt's amulet and these foul objects we found on the assassin are gone! Gone! They've vanished!
05:01 Don't you see they've been stolen from us?
05:04 [Music]

06:22 So, uh, now you guys understand why I refused to play this game without maxing out all my scores.
06:34 Look how much they took out!
06:36 And he's got max health right now.
06:38 He began when he rolled--when I rolled the dice for that guy,
06:42 he began with, like, uh, with, like, as much health as he has now, so he would have been dead.
06:50 That's how quickly this game kills you.
06:54 [Music]
06:57 [Music]
07:12 [Music]
07:15 Okay, so, uh, you might wonder why I'm picking up rocks.
07:33 Is it because I'm a pack rat?
07:35 No! I'm picking up all these rocks solely because you wind up with, you know, like, look at this map here.
07:46 It tells you where all the items are, which is excellent. You need it.
07:50 Uh, but if you don't pick up rocks, it also tells you where the rocks are, so you gotta hide everything.
07:55 So I pick them all up and I go to the, uh, little area that's down there.
08:00 [Music]
08:06 [Music]
08:09 [Music]
08:34 [Music]
08:37 Did you see that? He's dead now.
08:53 I'm pretty sure he's dead.
08:56 Zero hit points, yeah.
08:58 So, uh, yeah. Load.
09:02 That's what happens.
09:04 [Music]
09:07 [Music]
09:27 [Music]
09:30 I have some experience in these things.
09:41 You know, abandoned huts are not always as they seem.
09:44 Over there, for instance, where the floor looks a bit askew, that's a badly concealed door to a chamber beneath us.
09:51 There must be a way to open it.
09:53 [Music]

11:59 All right, all right, all right. Let's see what the, uh, uh, what the message from the Assassin hat holds for us.
12:24 Let's see here. So, I'm gonna go ahead and do this.
12:29 This is the Assassin's work thing.
12:36 "I am beset by madness, perhaps insane.
12:39 I commit these few words to paper that others might better judge my fate.
12:44 Born to this land, my life's yearning focused on me but one event.
12:49 To escape Ravenloft.
12:50 This I accomplished. However I managed it, what secrets I acquired and what I stole from an undead lich is unimportant.
12:58 Know this, that I am delving into the arcane lore and ancient manuscripts.
13:03 That in delving into arcane lore and ancient manuscripts, I came upon knowledge of the one article which might destroy Strahd.
13:12 Further, in the land beyond Ravenloft I may have found it.
13:16 Through deceitful and torturous sources, many of which I only half believe,
13:23 I have come to the conclusion that a charm worn by Lord Delt of Eltarhal is the holy symbol of Ravenkind.
13:32 What is my madness?
13:34 That after escaping Ravenloft my heart tells me I'm a steel Delt amulet, even if it means the death of that good lord.
13:41 And with the charm I only half believe might be Strahd's doom, I must return to Ravenloft.
13:47 Only I, it seems, might free my people from their eternal fate.
13:52 Oh! I played this game for like 20 years, I never realized that the assassin was a member of the Vistani.
14:03 I always just thought I'd save my people, no, because the Vistani steal Delt's amulet from you.
14:13 So yeah, the Vistani want to kill Strahd.
14:20 Alright.
14:23 [Music]
14:44 And this is the note. Strahd von Sarovitch, Master of Barovia, if the heart of this dark lord has a name, it is Strahd.
14:55 My lord and destroyer, as I die let me write what I could never freely say.
15:01 That the very air about us bears the stench of Strahd's foul will.
15:07 Let it be my epitaph that if I had the strength of youth to assassinate the Baal Vrzi,
15:19 I would more willingly devote himself to Strahd's destruction.
15:23 With my last breath I curse his name.
15:27 He's pretty well cursed, he really is, and he deserves it.

16:58 [Music]
17:00 So, for the record here, you can turn stepping off, stepping is how you see me moving, it's very blocky and jumps,
17:10 it's because you're moving literally with each square of the map.
17:17 Each map, the map is broken up into little squares, each square is like six feet.
17:23 So, with stepping on, it makes sure you don't get stuck in the game,
17:28 although when you turn stepping off you can kind of squeeze in through barriers.
17:34 I don't really advise on it, I know maybe some speedrunners do it, but you can get yourself really screwed up if you do that.
17:46 So, I always play with stepping on, there are very few times where I turn stepping off and that's only when the stepping...
17:53 There are a couple of placements in the game where stepping will wind up...
18:01 It won't allow you to go forward and you actually have to move around some objects, and they were misplaced objects, but in general stepping is the best way to go.
18:14 [Sound of a car crashing]
18:20 [Silence]
18:44 [Sound of a car crashing]
18:50 [Music]
19:04 Also, you gotta be really careful.
19:07 If you have a potion in your hand or a scroll that you can use, make sure you right...
19:12 If you want a quick deposit to the inventory, you double click on the right hand, right mouse button, not the left.
19:18 The left mouse button will usually... It might activate... I think it activates it.
19:23 If it's not this game, it's one of the other games where it actually activates it.
19:28 You don't want to quick activate any potions or scrolls.
19:33 Actually, this game... Maybe it's this game where you have to have it in the hand to do that.
19:38 Either way, I always use the right mouse button when I click to deposit it.
19:43 [Music]
19:58 [Sound of a car crashing]
20:08 [Music]
20:17 [Sound of a car crashing]
20:36 So yeah, clerics can absolutely use...
20:40 Um...
20:42 Mail. And I suggest you do because it's 5 AC.
20:47 Uh, you'll also notice that I have the uh...
20:51 Uh...
20:53 What is it called again? The uh...
20:56 [Music]
20:59 Flame Blade. Flame Blade is like the best cleric weapon.
21:05 Uh, let me read that. Flame Blade is like the best cleric weapon in the game unless you get the uh... hammer.
21:13 The hammer will fly back and forth and you can actually use the hammer to hit people as you run away.
21:20 You know, uh... Oops, I hit him twice.
21:23 Like Thor's Mjolnir. Yeah, it's pretty fun to use.
21:27 Uh, but yeah. This game was the first game that actually made me realize...
21:32 When I played this game, that's when I realized that Flame Blade was the best weapon and...
21:38 You know...
21:42 When I... It took a couple playthroughs before I realized it was the best weapon.
21:47 I get to a higher level and I start using it and I go, "Oh wait, Flame Blade's actually like a friggin' lightsaber here."
21:54 That's back when I used to like Star Wars.
21:58 Jar Jar Binks, we're going to do it from here.

23:18 So, fun fact, you can actually save these maps and they will be saved as text files.
23:25 And with ASCII locations and stuff.
23:29 And I tell you, one of the coolest things about Ravenloft is that you could save the text files.
23:37 The maps as text files.
23:39 And they also have the notes that you put in there.
23:44 I mean, this game...
23:48 It has stuff in it that a lot of modern roleplaying games don't have.
23:51 Which is kinda weird.
23:53 Like, people forgot basic design concepts.
23:57 But yeah, you don't need a huge fancy map.
23:59 You have a text map that is easy to print out.
24:03 Even with...
24:05 This game is huge! These maps cover a huge amount of territory.
24:11 And they figured out how to do it with text mapping.
24:16 So yeah, good job.
