BamaCentral's Katie Windham explains the differences between this offense and championship seasons in the past

00:00 offensive line Alabama had last time they won the national championship.
00:03 It was phenomenal.
00:03 I think I'm pretty sure they won the Jim Moore award that year for
00:06 best offensive line in the country in the last couple of years.
00:09 It has just not been as stacked of an offensive line as maybe we've seen under
00:14 Nick Saban where I mean, very rarely I guess even at Alabama,
00:18 you're gonna have all five guys on the front there high caliber NFL talents.
00:22 That just doesn't necessarily always happen with the guards.
00:25 But this year's group is not and really the offense as a whole,
00:29 if you look at Alabama on offense right now,
00:31 maybe Jermaine Burton last couple weeks is stepping up and gonna get there.
00:34 But it's hard to find a skill guy on Alabama,
00:36 which this sounds like a spoiled Alabama problem, but it's gonna be a round draft
00:41 pick when that's something you're kind of used to for the last couple years.
00:44 Or maybe even a top three round draft pick Alabama talent wise on
00:50 offense right now is maybe not where it's been the last couple years.
00:55 >> Jermaine Burton, you mentioned him nearly 200 yards last week.
01:00 And is that kind of the receiver that they've been looking forward to kind of
01:05 take advantage of Milrow's strengths best they can?
01:07 >> Yeah, I think so.
01:09 I think they're two guys whose skill sets match up well together with it.
01:14 He likes to go after the deep ball and Milrow likes to throw it.
01:17 And I think maybe coming into the year, people would have thought that
01:21 Corey Brooks would be Alabama's leading receiver and coming into the season.
01:27 He had to sit out the first half of the first game because of an internal
01:33 suspension or something like that.
01:34 And then his season has just never really gotten going.
01:36 He has two catches all season at the halfway point of the year.
01:40 And so I think Jermaine Burton when they brought him in from Georgia last season,
01:44 that was kind of the hope that he was gonna be one of those guys for
01:46 Bryce Young that could really open up the offense.
01:49 And he kind of started clicking finally late in the season last year.
01:53 I think he had a big game against Ole Miss in week 10 and
01:55 then had 100 yard receiving game for the next week against Austin Peay and
01:59 had a pretty good iron bowl.
02:00 And then this season, the last couple weeks is finally starting to click that
02:05 maybe he's that number one receiver for Alabama that they need.
02:09 And like you said, kind of matches up well with what Jalen Milrow can do.
