00:00 and I won't be biased, I just see India as looking very very strong.
00:05 All right, thank you for agreeing with you on that. The Indian side of you, you kind of
00:12 indicated a bit, you'll do nicely for this World Cup. It's not just one or two players,
00:18 it's their bowling group with Justin Vergaomba coming back in, Jadeja, Kulbhik Yadav and even
00:24 from a batting point of view, who's impressed you the most? I think Cale Rowland has looked the best
00:32 batsman so far and I say that keeping Virat Kohli in mind. Virat was fantastic in Australia when we
00:38 were three-three. I don't know whether Mitch Marshall slept after that game for the next
00:43 one week but he's still good but I think Cale Rowland has looked superb. He's looked in tremendous
00:50 control with the bat right from the Asia Cup when he came back after a long long way up, about seven
00:55 eight months. He's come back and he's played very well. Rohit Sharma against Afghanistan was at his
01:02 best in his seventh World Cup 100 and as I said Ishan Kishan got a good 40. I don't know what's the
01:08 situation at Chupung Hill. This morning I doubt whether he'll be ready to come and ready to play
01:14 this game because he's just recovering from Tengu but I think in terms of class, Rahul has looked
01:22 the best and then Virat Kohli. So as I said it's looking good. It's a nominous batting lineup but
01:31 what as you rightly said for me has stood up is the bowling. Jasprit Bumrah is a local boy and
01:36 he's added immensely to the bowling lineup. As you say in cricket there's no half-golins
01:44 and just to put your feet and hit it through the covers and everything is in line. It's
01:49 spinning around both ways. Both Shiraz and Bumrah has made life easy for the bowlers coming because
01:55 they put so much pressure up front. So much pressure up front with the new ball that Australia
02:00 or Afghanistan hasn't got away. So over a hundred thousand today in number but if you were captain
02:08 what would you do at this cost? Do you look at the conditions, the pitch, do you look at the sky,
02:14 do you look at the crowd and the pressure, the atmosphere? I think either side will bat first.
02:19 I don't see them chasing unless and until there's a lot of dew in the air at this time of the year.
02:25 I don't know. I haven't seen the ground last night and I'm sure both the captains will be keeping an
02:29 eye on the ground unless and until it's absolutely wet. We check out that we'll be in this part of
02:34 the world at this time of the year. I think either side will want to win the toss and bat first. I
02:40 hope it's a good take. It's always been a good take in Ahmedabad and since the time I've played
02:45 that stadium was about 60,000. This is almost double and I hope it's a good take and it'll be
02:51 a fantastic game. India-Pakistan clashes have always been outstanding. You know since my playing
02:56 days. The first time I watched an India-Pakistan, I played an India-Pakistan game was in 1996
03:02 and since then it has been a very, very key contest. I don't look at it in any other way. I
03:09 just see it to be a great contest between the bat and the ball because they've produced some
03:14 champions in the past. You know the generation I played, I remember walking out the back with
03:19 Sachin on a green top in Canada for the first time and they had Waseem Bokar, Shoaib Razak.
03:25 So I said which one to play and which one to relax because they just kept coming at you
03:30 and it's a great cricketing nation too. The batting, the bowling, the excitement for the
03:38 game in that part of the world is as much as it is in India. So it's going to be a fantastic
03:42 cricket match and an important cricket match and an important cricket match because whoever wins
03:47 today will probably have a... it's a long tournament, nine matches is a long way but if
03:52 whoever wins today will be in a very good position to make it to the last ball.
03:58 You mentioned your clashes against Pakistan. What's the emotion like for the players
04:05 you know waking up knowing that they're about to play the biggest game of the tournament,
04:12 to be honest, with billions of people watching and countries stopping what they're doing?
04:19 What emotion is it like for a player? Take us there. You know I'll tell you honestly and I mean
04:24 it from the inside of my heart. In my generation the biggest game of the tournament was Australia.
04:29 Yeah, well said, well said. That's how good they were in my generation. You know I remember a young
04:37 Harbhajan Singh playing his first comeback test at Union Gardens and I was captain. He got 13
04:42 wickets that test match. I remember we got Australia five down for 195 and then Adam
04:50 Gilchrist walked out. So he came up to me and said, "Yaar sabko out kar diye, abhi dekho wo Gilchrist aaye."
04:56 That means, yeah, we've got everybody out and now we see Adam Gilchrist walking out. So that's how
05:01 good he was. So during my generation the biggest game was in terms of quality with Australia.
05:05 Pakistan was in terms of interest, in terms of chaos, in terms of asking for tickets,
05:14 in terms of people turning out to watch. It was unbelievable and we had some great
05:22 contests. I remember my first trip to Pakistan in 2004 as captain. First time in 15 years and it's
05:29 the first time ever we won a game of Pakistan in both the tests and the one days. So the excitement
05:35 is enormous and for me, you know, I trained myself to take it as another game because it was still
05:43 that white or the red cricket ball coming out of the bowler's hand and I just played the ball. I did
05:48 not play the team, I did not play the pressure, I did not play the situation and I'm sure players,
05:53 the modern day players are used to it. They're friends of the team and on the mixed well,
05:58 they know how talented each one is and slowly with time that kind of flows away.
06:05 You know, it's about winning the World Cup, it's about being in a good position in the World Cup
06:10 and rather than just India, Pakistan or India, Australia or India, South Africa. South Africa
06:14 has done a tremendous job, the team in these two games. So it will be a pressure game but
06:19 I think the players with time have got used to this pressure.
