By employing preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) or preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) techniques during IVF, medical professionals can examine the genetic material of embryos before implantation. This enables them to identify specific genetic abnormalities or mutations that could lead to serious hereditary diseases. Through this process, only embryos without the identified genetic mutations are selected for implantation, thus significantly reducing the risk of passing on these genetic disorders to the child.
