00:00 wrong today? Really? Do you know what, I'm really proud of the performance today. So I think the way
00:07 that the players have played, the things that we've done throughout the course of the game,
00:11 I couldn't be more proud of them. So if I'm honest, the first half I think we created a
00:18 lot of good chances. We were unfortunate not to take them and as we keep evolving,
00:24 we'll be more ruthless in those moments and take those critical chances when it matters and then
00:29 obviously put ourselves in an even better position. But we caused a lot of problems for Chelsea today
00:33 and unfortunately we made a couple of mistakes that led to the first goal and then we had an
00:41 opportunity to be more effective to prevent the second goal. So something to learn from,
00:45 but certainly in terms of our performances, we'll keep improving.
00:53 How do you see the attack from Rico and Lisa Evans? They seem a lot more dangerous on the
01:02 counter. Well, Rico is new, but there just seems to be a bit more fluidity in terms of a static
01:08 attack, even though you say you didn't get the goal you wanted. Yeah, I think the biggest thing
01:12 has been about building confidence on the ball and just in terms of the way that we've developed
01:18 the out of possession stuff that enables us to be in a position to be able to counter is one
01:22 part of the game. But the other part of it as well for us has been a lot of work on confidence to get
01:27 on it, to keep moving it with speed and to be able to identify gaps that we can play through or around
01:33 when it's available to us. So to be able to create chances from open play is as important as well,
01:38 because obviously, you know, if you play a team that's a lower block, for example, you've got to
01:43 find ways through, you can't hit on the counter. So we have to add more to our game in possession
01:47 that's going to enable us to create chances against whoever we play. And so we're building
01:53 in both of those parts, really. But certainly, you know, we've got players that are quick,
01:58 but good quality. And so, yeah, counter attack can help us in moments like we've had today.
02:02 Thanks.
02:04 I was going to ask about, is it just that kind of experience piece as well?
02:10 You know, you've created 14 chances today, two on target. So it's about being more composed
02:17 in those areas, whereas when you look at Chelsea and what they've done in women's football,
02:21 I guess that's the difference.
02:22 Yeah, you're spot on. And I think the fact that we've had 14 chances just says a lot for the way
02:29 that we've come and moved forward. You know, even from the Man City game to this one, you know,
02:33 when you're playing a team in the top four, you don't get loads of chances. You know, we acknowledge
02:37 that and that's just part of where we are at this moment in time. But actually, we've created a lot
02:42 today. But when we get those chances, we have to be able to take them. Like I said, we could have
02:46 been 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes. And if that happens, the game completely changes. But when
02:52 Chelsea get a chance, they take it and all of a sudden you're chasing again, you know. And that'll
02:57 take a little bit of time. In all fairness to Rico, you know, she's been really effective since
03:01 she's come in, but she's still very new to the league and she's just fought amongst the best of
03:06 them today on the pitch and doesn't look out of place at all. So I'm really pleased with how
03:10 quickly she's actually settling into the game in England as well.
03:14 Can I ask a little bit about Emma? She was the one changing from the wing into Brighton. She got
03:18 her goal midweek, obviously. What was it that made you bring her in and what has she shown you?
03:22 To be honest, it's been actually quite difficult to leave her out of the team. And, you know,
03:27 I've said that to her because actually, since she's come in, she's done nothing but work really
03:31 hard on all the areas that we've spoke about and the qualities that she already has when she's
03:36 available to play. You know, she's had a lot of time out actually last year, but I've always felt
03:41 that she's got the potential to be really effective, which is why I brought her in in the
03:46 summer. And so really, she's been working for her spot. Every time she's come into the game,
03:51 she's affected the game through pre-season and up to now. And so she deserved the chance. Thanks.
03:58 Anyone else have questions? OK, we'll call it there. Thank you so much. Appreciate your time.
