00:10 Brendan Gulick with you from Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette,
00:14 Ohio State 41, Purdue 7.
00:16 The final score today in Ohio State's pretty convincing victory on the road
00:21 here in the Big Ten.
00:22 I would argue probably their most complete win of the year,
00:25 not their most exciting one of the year.
00:28 Probably chalked that one up to the Notre Dame game a few weeks back, but
00:31 the Buckeyes are the top five team in the country.
00:34 And they needed to come out today and look like it.
00:36 And I think they did a pretty good job of that.
00:38 Certainly got off to a really good start early in the game.
00:40 Just a couple of quick thoughts from the game, in case you may have missed it.
00:43 Ohio State was up 20 to nothing at halftime and
00:45 ultimately added three additional touchdowns from there.
00:49 I thought the defense played really well.
00:51 Maybe not their absolute best game, but they played very well in general.
00:56 Purdue, a few self-inflicted wounds along the way.
00:59 They missed a couple of field goals, which was pretty frustrating.
01:02 They also didn't have a great special teams day in general, really,
01:05 because their punting game was lackluster as well.
01:09 Purdue was shorthanded, missing a couple of players, and
01:12 certainly a few of those were on the offensive line.
01:14 Ohio State dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
01:19 A pretty lopsided effort at the line of scrimmage,
01:22 which is the first time I think we can really say that and
01:26 feel from start to finish like the Buckeyes did that all season.
01:28 So that's a great sign, because Ohio State's got a huge game next week against
01:32 the Penn State Nittany Lions, who are also undefeated.
01:35 It is going to be the game in college football anywhere in the country, and
01:38 the Bucs are hopeful that they're gonna be at full strength for that game.
01:41 Obviously, the big concern coming out of this game is around injuries.
01:45 Travion Henderson didn't play, Mayan Williams didn't play, and
01:49 during the game, Chip Traynham got banged up and did not return.
01:53 So the Buckeyes are down their top three running backs,
01:56 going into what will be their biggest game of the season next week.
01:59 They have gotta find a way to get healthy this week.
02:01 But it was good enough today with Dallin Hayden having a really solid effort,
02:06 11 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown for Hayden.
02:09 Marvin Harrison Jr., another really impressive performance, six catches for
02:13 105 and a score, two touchdown catches for Cade Stover, four for 53 total for him.
02:18 And Brandon Innes, pretty cool for him, first opportunity to get on the field and
02:23 make a catch, he took it 58 yards to the house, well done by Innes.
02:27 That touchdown pass came from Devin Brown.
02:29 The Buckeyes also put in some Devin Brown package early in the game,
02:34 which was an interesting little wrinkle.
02:37 There was a lot of it that I liked, but obviously the fumble when trying to score
02:43 was what sticks out in your mind first and foremost.
02:46 So that's gotta get cleaned up.
02:48 I think if you're gonna get cute and try to showcase some different things,
02:52 you gotta execute, coaching staff certainly knows that.
02:54 The forecast all week made this afternoon's game feel like it was gonna
03:01 look like Northwestern last year where you were playing in just a brutal day.
03:05 It was far more mild than that, and so
03:08 Kyle McCord was still able to have a good day through the year.
03:11 Once again, hasn't thrown an interception since week one.
03:14 Three touchdowns today, 16 of 28 for 276 yards, completed 57% of his passes.
03:21 Buckeyes held Purdue to three for 17 on third downs.
03:26 That is terrific.
03:27 Ohio State, three sacks, nine total tackles for loss.
03:31 They won basically every statistical category in a pretty dominating effort.
03:36 So Ohio State with a good win.
03:38 They've gotten through their first six, including three Big Ten Conference Games
03:42 unbeaten, and then the Penn State Nittany Lions come to Columbus next week.
