00:00 Sinatra the Musical has come to Birmingham as a world premiere. We're
00:04 thrilled that we were chosen to stage this production. It is Broadway level
00:10 theatre in this city and it is based on the early years and career of Frank
00:16 Sinatra, a very iconic singer, and it arcs from his early days when he met his
00:22 first wife Nancy Sinatra through to when he met his second wife Ava Gardner who
00:28 at the time was a huge movie star. And the production is lavish. It is one of
00:36 the most beautiful productions we have had here and the costumes are very
00:41 integral to telling this story. Sinatra the Musical, now gracing the stage at the
00:48 Rep Theatre in Centenary Square, has so far met critical acclaim. It invites
00:53 audiences to delve into the turbulent life story of one of music's brightest
00:57 luminaries and in the ambience of a bygone era in which it was set. John
01:02 Morrill, the production's esteemed costume designer, has a critical role in
01:06 creating this visually arresting aesthetic. His costumes do not merely
01:10 offer authenticity to the spectacle but also help the performers connect more
01:16 deeply with their character portrayals. So Frank Sinatra's early years arc from
01:23 the early 40s right through until the early 50s and costumes help to show that
01:29 timeline. They are all era-specific. Honestly when you put this dress on it
01:34 just makes you stand differently. It allows you to walk out on stage as
01:38 elegant as you like but yeah obviously it totally changes your physicality. What
01:43 you wear is so important. So far the production has been showered with
01:48 commendations from audiences captivated by the tale of Sinatra's humble infancy
01:53 as a working-class American Italian. A fervent ensemble breathes life into this
01:58 epic narrative of adversity and subsequent success. While Sinatra's
02:03 iconic music inevitably shines as the star of the show, the performance
02:08 guarantees a memorable night for all regardless of their familiarity with
02:12 Frank Sinatra's illustrious discography. So whether you know of Frank Sinatra or
02:18 not this music is for everyone. So you can expect gorgeous choreography,
02:24 beautiful costumes, incredible music, a very good night out. And it's so nice
02:30 seeing all the audience arrive as well totally glammed up for the occasion. We
02:33 are thrilled that Tina Sinatra, Frank's daughter, has endorsed this particular
02:40 musical. It's not a tribute act. This is a dramatic storyline with a wonderful
02:46 plot, amazing characters, amazing actors, wonderful style. The set is just lavish
02:56 as well as the costumes. So yeah we're thrilled that we can offer this as a
03:03 Birmingham theatre.
