00:00 You think you know him?
00:01 Alright you tell me his 10 greatest rivals then if you know him so well.
00:04 Go on, let me see the comments.
00:06 The artist formerly known as Edge is about to go on the run that will likely cap off
00:09 his incredible wrestling career and thus we thought it would be a good time to look back
00:13 on the career of the Rated R spooper star Adam Copeland.
00:16 Still not getting used to that any time soon.
00:19 Of course in one or two years time we might be looking at an influx of AEW stars on this
00:23 list especially if that MJF picture ever resurfaces on TV, but for now let's take a look back
00:28 on the rivals that have meant the most to the career of my favorite wrestler of all
00:32 time.
00:33 I'm Tempest hailing from PartsFunKnown and these are the 10 greatest rivals of Edge's
00:37 career.
00:38 But before we get on with our list make sure of course that you like this video, subscribe

00:45 Much like the return of Fantasy Booking Warfare here on PartsFunKnown.

00:51 Number 10, Christian.
00:53 Currently there is about a 50/50 chance that this entry could shoot up the list depending
00:56 on what direction All Elite Wrestling goes in their current story.
01:00 Edge could end up having a fantastic rivalry with a Christian Cage that is on the run of
01:04 his career or they could end up teaming together once again as Copeland said he wanted to do
01:09 in his AEW debut promo.
01:11 As I list this list however there is only their WWE rivalry to work with, one that is
01:15 shockingly short for how much weight it carries.
01:18 Maybe the greatest tag team of the Attitude Era, Edge and Christian had reached the heights
01:22 they were going to reach by mid-2001 and began to go their separate ways with loads of teases
01:27 and errant spears, particularly at Summerslam.
01:30 And then Christian joined the Alliance for some reason after faking a phone call from
01:34 police saying their mom had been in an accident.
01:36 Yeah remember when these guys were brothers?
01:38 It's okay WWE doesn't remember that either.
01:40 2001 invasion bollocks aside, Christian and Edge had a fun little rivalry over the Intercontinental
01:45 Championship including a pretty darn good ladder match where Christian destroys his
01:49 gooch, but while they never had the rivalry you'd think they would have had in WWE,
01:53 their split helped give Edge his first major step up the card as a single star.
01:58 If Christian brings up Copeland's dad, this is number one though.
02:01 Number 9, Eddie Guerrero.
02:03 The Smackdown 6.
02:05 The mortal enemies of Spider-Man united together in a wrestling ring.
02:08 Because Edge loves Spider-Man you see.
02:10 Anyway, there was a lot of anticipation for Edge and Eddie Guerrero to get in the ring
02:14 together in 2002 and for very good reason.
02:17 It may have taken a couple of very good pay-per-view matches to finally get their chemistry, but
02:21 when they finally had their rivalry-defining no-DQ match on Smackdown, they hit the bullseye
02:26 within the bullseye, resulting in one of the very best matches in Smackdown history.
02:31 The rivalry continued in the tag division as the Smackdown 6 truly took form with Edge
02:35 and Rey Mysterio taking on Los Guerreros resulting in more great TV, but Edge and Eddie's one-on-one
02:40 battles only held to elevate both men and had Edge not injured his neck and stayed on
02:45 Smackdown where he could have had even more matches with Latino Heat, I have no doubt
02:50 this would be even higher on this list.
02:52 Number 8, Kurt Angle.
02:54 Speaking of the Smackdown 6, in the months leading up to the brand split, we saw two
02:58 of the future faces of Smackdown going toe-to-toe, nose-to-nose, flowing locks to bald head.
03:04 This was the shot in the arm that Edge needed as a single star after an underwhelming shampoo-based
03:09 battle with Booker T at WrestleMania.
03:11 At Backlash, Edge faced Kurt Angle, a man with whom he'd shared plenty of laughs and
03:15 history with, including Edge beating him for the King of the Ring the previous year, and
03:19 they had a match that to this day I think is the best example I have ever seen of someone
03:24 getting over in defeat.
03:26 Edge tries his best in a fantastic match only to come up just short of Kurt Angle, one of
03:30 the best in the world.
03:32 It is a great piece of business, made all the better when Edge got the win in their
03:35 rematch the following month at Judgment Day, maybe the best singles match Edge had during
03:40 his first WWE run.
03:42 Someone having their best match with Kurt Angle, who to thank.
03:45 This was a very difficult list to make as I had to put this feud with Angle at only
03:48 number 8 despite how much I love it, but that just means Edge has had 7 more incredible
03:53 rivalries even better than this.
03:56 7.
03:57 The Hardys and The Dudleys
03:58 I thought long and hard about how to incorporate these two teams into this list before coming
04:03 to the conclusion of "f*** it, they're both on in one entry."
04:06 While you can certainly look at the matches that Edge, Christian, and The Hardys had at
04:10 No Mercy and Unforgiven, or the matches they had with The Dudleys at the Royal Rumble in
04:14 Isolation, in many people's eyes this is a three-way feud between the teams that define
04:19 not only the Attitude Era, but a style of wrestling that the future generations of wrestling
04:24 are still emulating.
04:25 It wasn't a secret that these teams were insanely talented, but until they all got
04:29 in the ring together at WrestleMania, their WWE legacies hadn't been defined.
04:34 WrestleMania 2000, Summerslam 2000, WrestleMania X-7.
04:38 Three absolutely insane matches, each more dangerous than the last, and they get a little
04:43 bit of extra juice on this list because who won all three?
04:46 Edge and Christian.
04:48 It was in the feud with these two teams that Edge and Christian really came into their
04:51 own as entertainers as well.
04:53 The five-second poses, crazy glasses and outfits all came to be because of all this, and honestly
04:59 it really is hard to say two of these teams without saying the third in the same breath.
05:04 6.
05:05 Seth Rollins
05:06 When Edge came back to WWE in 2020, the match at the top of everyone's dream match list
05:11 for him was Seth Rollins.
05:13 Not only because he had been one of the best in-ring performers in WWE of the last decade,
05:17 but also because of the lore.
05:19 When Seth was the Authority's golden goose, it was Edge's neck he threatened to break
05:23 in order to coerce John Cena into reinstating his superiors.
05:27 The WWE fans never forget, and they wanted to see Edge get his revenge nearly seven years
05:32 later when he and Seth finally crossed paths in 2021.
05:36 I can also say without question, this is the best rivalry of Edge's WWE tenure.
05:41 Edge had plenty of great moments in promos, but the matches were absolutely superb.
05:46 Whether it be their SummerSlam banger, the rematch on Smackdown with Seth sending Edge
05:50 off on a stretcher, or their rubber match inside Hell in a Cell, the first great blow-off Cell
05:55 match in Lord knows how long, and the best Saudi Arabia match as well.
05:59 All equal, the best work Edge did post-retirement.
06:03 This is exactly the kind of thing I wanted to see when Edge came back, and I'm just
06:07 a little bit sad we didn't get to see more like it.
06:11 5.
06:12 Randy Orton
06:13 Boring pandemic WrestleMania match aside, Edge and Randy Orton actually had really good
06:17 chemistry together throughout their careers.
06:19 They had feuds in 2004, 2007, 2010, and 2020, and if that doesn't tell you how confident
06:25 WWE was in putting them together, I don't know what will.
06:28 And those rivalries took place at every step of their career journeys, as up-and-comers,
06:32 emerging main eventers, established main eventers, and legends.
06:35 The summer of 2004 saw Edge and Orton have some tremendously underrated clashes over
06:40 the Intercontinental Championship, and then a couple of years later, united as Rated-RKO
06:45 against the common enemy of DX before their rapid split.
06:48 It was in those 2007 matches, when both men had already been world champions, that they
06:52 once again could steal the show, having an awesome match the day after Backlash on Raw.
06:57 And while I do think their 2020 rivalry gets memed on more than remembered fondly for their
07:01 slow walk around the Performance Center and the greatest match in the history of wrestling
07:05 matches to ever happen anywhere in the universe, the promos and character work from both men
07:09 prior to lockdown are absolutely worth remembering.
07:12 4.
07:13 Mick Foley
07:14 When Edge won the WWE Championship for the first time, it was very clearly done to tie
07:19 up the loose end of his Money in the Bank contract.
07:21 He only had two months before Mania, and WWE had other plans, so he got a three-week run,
07:27 and then it was back to Cena and Triple H. This did not sit well with Edge, who had been
07:31 waiting years for his big break, and focused that energy on his WrestleMania rivalry with
07:36 Mick Foley.
07:37 A rivalry that resulted in one of Edge's most iconic WrestleMania stealing performances.
07:42 With this rivalry and match, don't just get points for being iconic, because let's
07:46 be honest, Edge has had f***ing loads of iconic moments.
07:50 It also gets points for the statement that it sent to WWE.
07:54 Edge would not be content to slip back down the card.
07:56 He was going to continue to be as undeniable a main event talent as WWE had at the time,
08:01 and Mick Foley was the perfect rival to prove that point with.
08:04 Foley, who considered Edge the best wrestler in the industry at the time, took him into
08:08 WrestleMania and had one of the most hardcore of hardcore matches ever to happen under the
08:12 WWE umbrella, putting Edge into tacks and falling through fire together on their quest
08:17 to make a star.
08:19 3.
08:20 Matt Hardy
08:21 I think this is the first time that a tag team and a member of that tag team have featured
08:24 separately on one of these lists, but in this case, I think it is absolutely necessary.
08:29 Now, there are a lot of things wrong with how all of this was handled.
08:33 Their Summerslam match is a bloodstained pile of trash that completely killed the audience's
08:37 heat for this real-life blood feud, but there are still good matches to come after.
08:42 Their steel cage match at Unforgiven is probably Matt's biggest ever WWE win and a great
08:47 match, and their Raw Street Fight and ladder match were also both fun.
08:52 But honestly, this entry isn't even about matches or promos.
08:55 These boys were just straight beefing.
08:58 This is as real-life a rivalry as you will find on this list, or on most lists for that
09:04 matter, and even if it didn't always translate to great TV, it is still regarded by many
09:09 as one of the most legendary rivalries of the Ruthless Aggression era.
09:13 2.
09:14 The Undertaker
09:15 It may be one thing to be taken seriously as a WWE main eventer, but when you are the
09:20 guy trusted with a 15-month long storyline resulting in five pay-per-view matches including
09:25 a WrestleMania main event with The Undertaker, that is when you truly know you have made
09:30 it.
09:31 Starting in 2007, Edge made Undertaker's life miserable at every turn.
09:35 He cashed in Money in the Bank in May, cost Taker the big gold belt inside Hell in a Cell
09:39 at Survivor Series, and cloned himself twice to ensure he became world champion at Armageddon,
09:44 all building to a main event clash at WrestleMania 24.
09:47 This was, in many ways, the peak of the Ultimate Opportunist character, always finding some
09:52 way to eke out wins in matches he had no business winning until The Undertaker finally got him
09:57 in a fair fight.
09:59 That Mania match is highly underrated, resulting in Taker reaching 16-0, but they didn't
10:03 stop there with Edge getting his win back in a TLC match before finally being dispatched
10:08 to an actual Christian depiction of Hell at Summerslam.
10:13 This is probably the greatest storyline that Edge had ever been part of in WWE, with Vickie
10:18 Guerrero and La Familia backing him up, and it is pretty safe to say that for this 15-month
10:24 window, Edge was THE top heel in the company, feuding with the baddest babyface in the land
10:29 to boot.
10:30 1.
10:31 John Cena
10:32 Edge's old shoe.
10:34 John Cena and Edge both slawed in as the other's top rival of all time and for very good reason.
10:40 Edge could always get fantastic performances out of Cena at a time when not everyone could
10:44 say that, and Cena elevated Edge to the main event level with an all-time classic feud.
10:50 I mean, how much more legit can you get than Edge slapping John Cena Sr. and getting tossed
10:54 in the Long Island Sound for his trouble?
10:56 Ignore their great Summerslam and Unforgiven matches, that's real beef.
11:01 This was Edge's first real chance to make it as a main event superstar, and he made
11:04 the most out of it with WWE's hand-picked poster boy so that by the time they found
11:09 their way back to each other in 2009, they were on more equal footing and able to play
11:13 with years of backstory.
11:15 Edge's promo on Cena telling him that he hates him and everything he stands for is
11:20 particularly hard-hitting while being almost scarily calm, but it all led to their climactic
11:25 match in a Last Man Standing match at Backlash, an actually good Last Man Standing match where
11:31 Big Show exploded John Cena and Edge went on his merry way.
11:34 The only thing that would have made them even better rivals would have been them ending
11:38 their WWE careers together, but as we've seen, neither man is quite ready to hang up
11:43 those old shoes yet.
11:44 And that's our list!
