00:02 Hi, I'm Billy Rabock with Motor Trend,
00:03 and this is the 2022 Kia EV6.
00:06 Let's take a deeper dive into the future of Kia.
00:08 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:14 I've been checking out the Kia EV6 all morning,
00:16 and I found a lot to love.
00:17 Kia's offering everything from a car with a 58 kilowatt hour
00:20 battery with rear wheel drive, all the way up
00:22 to an all wheel drive car with a 77.4 kilowatt hour battery
00:26 and dual motors.
00:27 This car that we're looking at here has 320 horsepower
00:30 and 446 pound feet of torque.
00:31 Those are pretty impressive stats.
00:33 That being said, there is a car on the way with 576 horsepower.
00:37 It'll do a 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds.
00:40 For a Kia, that's insane.
00:42 The EV6 stands out in its segment
00:44 with future forward design.
00:46 You'll notice that the car has a nice contrast of sharp lines
00:49 and curved surfaces.
00:50 One of the things that makes the EV6 look so sleek
00:53 are the door handles that can fold in flush with the body
00:55 work.
00:55 Although we don't know the EV6's trim structure yet,
00:58 every model will get the halo light on the rear.
01:00 The EV6 has standard ultra fast charging,
01:03 thanks to its 800 volt and 400 volt architecture.
01:05 That means it has ultra fast charging,
01:07 but you can also plug it in pretty much wherever.
01:09 It also has a vehicle to load system.
01:10 That means that you can plug in a fridge
01:12 and power the fridge off of the car.
01:13 How cool is that?
01:14 Kia tells us that the battery will charge from 10% to 80%
01:18 in just 18 minutes.
01:19 That's the fastest compared to all of its competitors,
01:22 including the Tesla Model Y and the Ford Mach-E.
01:25 The inside of the EV6 is just as futuristic as the exterior.
01:28 Let's start with the really cool cantilevered centered console.
01:31 It's got this awesome dial shifter,
01:33 which has an independent park button in the middle.
01:35 And then you can rotate it for drive and reverse
01:37 so you don't get confused.
01:38 Then back here, we have the phone charging pad,
01:41 so you can wirelessly charge your cell phone.
01:42 Some of the other cool features that we have here
01:44 are the ventilated seats, the heated seats,
01:47 and the steering wheel heater.
01:48 Those are all capacitive buttons.
01:49 So above the vents in the middle,
01:51 we have two 12.3 displays for the gauge cluster
01:54 and for the infotainment.
01:55 For anyone who's driven a Kia recently,
01:57 the layout and user interface should be pretty familiar.
01:59 The screens are fast, clear, and easy to use.
02:03 The next really exciting thing about the interior
02:04 is that Kia is offering regenerative braking
02:07 via a paddle system.
02:08 It makes the driving experience more immersive,
02:10 and drivers can choose how much regenerative braking
02:13 they apply to the car by clicking up or down.
02:15 Kia wanted the interior to feel like a mixture
02:17 of the future and the familiar,
02:19 and I think they've really achieved that here.
02:21 That's the Kia EV6.
02:22 As you can see, the future's looking bright for Kia.
