The Marvels EARLY REVIEWS ARE IN And…
Transcript
00:00 (cash register chimes)
00:01 All right, so we have our very first reviews
00:04 for the Marvels.
00:06 In what definitely seems to be
00:07 sort of a Disney marketing plan
00:09 and Marvel Studios marketing plan here,
00:11 we have gotten the first reviews for the Marvels
00:13 from some pretty big outlets.
00:15 So it looks like Marvel Studios and Disney decided
00:18 to let some of the major media outlets
00:21 see the movie beforehand in hopes
00:23 that they would like the movie and talk about the movie.
00:26 As much as they can, obviously.
00:27 No details about the movie could be given,
00:29 but we do know what the first few reactions are now,
00:33 and they're actually quite good.
00:35 And this is one thing that the Marvels absolutely needs
00:39 in order to be relatively successful.
00:42 I did a video a few weeks ago talking about how
00:45 I do believe the Marvels is destined to fail
00:47 because it has a lot going up against it.
00:49 I do not want it to fail.
00:51 Just to clarify again, I want the Marvels to be successful.
00:54 I like Brie Larson, and I like the cast.
00:56 I like Ms. Marvel, Monica Rambeau,
00:59 one of my favorite actors, Park Seo-Joon
01:00 is coming in this movie, and of course, Nick Fury,
01:02 which could be viewed as bad or good
01:05 because right now some people have sort of a bad taste
01:08 of Nick Fury right now in their mouths
01:09 because of that finale of Secret Invasion.
01:12 But although these movies are slightly connected,
01:14 hopefully that doesn't affect too many people
01:16 from going out and seeing the movie.
01:17 However, sadly, it is definitely going to be a factor.
01:20 However, the first reviews are good
01:22 and that is what they needed, so let's go over them
01:24 and let's talk about Disney and Marvel's
01:26 little marketing plan here.
01:27 And if you love Marvel and you're new to the channel,
01:29 be sure to subscribe so you don't miss out
01:30 on any of the latest news.
01:31 And if you subscribe and leave a comment,
01:33 you are automatically entered in our giveaway
01:35 for a chance to win a PS5, an Xbox Series X,
01:38 some Marvel Legends items, or some DC items.
01:40 The winner gets to pick one item
01:42 and we pick one winner at the end of each month.
01:44 So like I said, we have reviews from some big outlets
01:47 like Empire and IGN.
01:49 However, you won't really find anywhere on their websites
01:51 what they're saying about it yet, and I'll explain why.
01:55 These reviews are coming from the Twitter account
01:57 @Cryptic4Qual.
01:59 This account usually sees trailers before they come out
02:02 and they have a 100% accuracy rate
02:05 with everything that they've said so far.
02:07 And most of it is about trailers
02:09 or movie run times or release dates.
02:12 So this account posted today stating
02:14 some early reviews for the Marvels
02:17 and lists a few.
02:18 From Empire, it says, "Emotional, hilarious,
02:20 "and action-packed."
02:22 IGN says, "A sequel that goes higher, further, faster."
02:27 And then the tweet says, "Can't say,"
02:29 which I'm assuming Cryptic HD Quality is saying
02:32 that they can't say who the outlet is
02:35 for whatever reason, I'm not sure.
02:37 But the quote is, "An amazing film that takes us
02:40 "on an emotional journey of growth and teamwork."
02:43 Now here's what I believe is happening.
02:45 I think this account has seen a new trailer
02:48 for the Marvels ahead of time.
02:50 And in that trailer, like Marvel Studios usually does,
02:53 like a lot of movies do, they put quotes in their trailers.
02:56 So that is probably where this account
02:58 is getting these quotes from.
02:59 However, Marvel and Disney still are doing something
03:02 rather differently.
03:03 What Marvel Studios usually does
03:05 is they have their really big premiere,
03:07 the red carpet world premiere.
03:09 And I'm fortunate to a lot of the times
03:11 get to go to these premieres.
03:12 So I know how they typically work.
03:14 At the same time as the premieres on other locations,
03:17 they do screeners.
03:18 So they allow other press members
03:20 to see the movie at the same time as the world premiere.
03:22 Then there's a reaction and a social media embargo.
03:26 Basically what that means is,
03:28 Disney says you cannot say anything
03:30 until this day on this time.
03:32 You can't review anything until this day at this time.
03:36 Typically the social media embargo
03:38 is immediately after you see the movie.
03:40 So typically at a world premiere,
03:41 the movie will start at around 7 p.m.
03:44 And the social media embargo is 9 p.m.
03:46 That way when you get out of the movie at 9, 9.30, 10,
03:49 whenever it is, you can just automatically tweet about it.
03:51 But Marvel Studios is doing something different here.
03:54 They have allowed big media press outlets
03:57 to see the movie beforehand
03:59 so they can release a trailer before the world premiere
04:02 to get people hyped for this movie.
04:04 And they absolutely needed to do this
04:06 because this is a movie that is going to seriously suffer
04:09 from the strikes.
04:10 Right now, none of the cast have promoted the film at all.
04:14 They haven't been able to
04:15 because of the guidelines of the strikes.
04:17 And this does indeed hurt movies
04:19 when the cast members and the main characters of the film
04:22 can't come out and say, hey, this movie, we love it,
04:25 we put so much heart and effort into it,
04:27 it's gonna be amazing, you're gonna love it,
04:29 you're gonna be on the edge of your seat.
04:31 That actually does really affect the box office
04:34 and people wanting to go see the movie.
04:35 And Marvel is really being smart about this
04:37 with how they're going about this situation
04:40 to kind of maximize hype, essentially.
04:43 We'll dive into this more,
04:44 including what the Marvels is going to need
04:46 to be a successful movie in just a bit.
04:48 But first, a big thank you to HelloFresh
04:50 for sponsoring this video.
04:51 Many of you probably know by now
04:53 that I personally use HelloFresh a lot
04:56 because for me, it simply makes sense.
04:58 I have a pretty busy schedule in my day-to-day life
05:00 and HelloFresh just makes eating good meals
05:03 a lot easier for me.
05:04 With over 40 different recipes
05:06 that I could choose from each week,
05:07 HelloFresh does all the shopping and meal planning for you.
05:10 Ingredients arrive at your doorstep,
05:12 pre-portioned and ready to cook,
05:13 along with pictured step-by-step recipe cards.
05:16 They literally make it as easy as it possibly could be.
05:19 The meals are very quick to make
05:21 and they do include some 15-minute meals as well.
05:24 It takes the hassle out of mealtime,
05:25 but it also can save you money.
05:28 HelloFresh is cheaper than grocery shopping
05:30 and 25% less expensive than takeout.
05:33 That means less stress of worrying
05:34 about what you're gonna eat and you save money.
05:37 So if interested, go to hellofresh.com/50cosmic

05:44 That's hellofresh.com/50cosmic
05:47 and use code 50cosmic for 50% off plus free shipping.
05:51 So what's funny about this is that Disney and Marvel
05:53 are almost essentially leaking things themselves
05:57 on purpose ahead of time to create hype for the movie,
06:01 which I totally get.
06:02 Marvel Studios knows that there's a lot going
06:04 against this movie right now.
06:06 A lot of people hate Brie Larson.
06:07 The strikes are happening right now.
06:09 And it's also connected to Secret Invasion,
06:11 which did not do very well.
06:13 Plus, the movie has to make around 600 to $800 million
06:18 to break even, not turn a profit, but break even.
06:22 And keep in mind, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania,
06:25 only did 476 million and they fully promoted that movie.
06:30 The cast fully promoted it, Marvel Studios,
06:32 everyone promoted it.
06:33 Plus, not to mention, it was our first time
06:35 really kind of seeing King the Conqueror in action.
06:37 So there was a ton of hype surrounding this movie.
06:40 It had a lot more hype than the Marvels does right now.
06:43 So sadly, there are a bunch of things
06:45 that are going against the Marvels right now,
06:47 but Marvel Studios is trying to get ahead of it.
06:49 So ultimately, they're going to start to release
06:51 a lot of good quotes about the movie soon.
06:54 They're gonna start to put these in trailers
06:56 before the actual world premiere
06:57 and they've let press see the movie already,
06:59 the really big outlets at least.
07:01 And it sounds like they actually have enjoyed the movie.
07:04 And it kind of sounds like essentially
07:07 what we have been promised.
07:08 It's funny, it's action-packed,
07:11 and it's better than the first one.
07:12 Now, based off of the trailers that we've seen,
07:14 it does look pretty action-packed
07:16 and Ms. Marvel seems to bring a pretty good comedic aspect
07:19 to the film that I think a lot of fans are going to enjoy.
07:21 Ms. Marvel, the show, has one of the highest
07:24 Disney+ ratings out there.
07:26 So hopefully, that will actually draw people
07:28 to go see the movie.
07:29 But they're going to be using these good, great,
07:32 amazing quotes about the movie relatively soon
07:35 to start to increase that hype
07:37 since there's not really many more ways they can do that.
07:40 The cast can't say anything,
07:42 they can't really tweet about the movie,
07:43 post videos, anything like that.
07:45 They can't attend the premiere for it.
07:47 So Marvel using these quotes is them kind of trying
07:49 to do some damage control essentially
07:51 and try to increase the hype.
07:53 But keep in mind, this is kind of a warning now.
07:55 They probably are going to use the best of the best quotes
07:59 for their trailers, of course,
08:00 because why would they use bad ones?
08:02 I will say these outlets typically don't lie.
08:05 If they don't like a movie, they state it.
08:07 If they think it's medium, they state it.
08:09 And I can personally attest that Marvel Studios
08:11 does not pay people for their quotes.
08:13 So not too long from now,
08:14 when the premiere actually happens,
08:16 we'll be getting all of the quotes,
08:18 not just the good ones, but the bad ones as well,
08:20 and of course, the ones that are mid.
08:22 But overall, I do hope this helps the film.
08:24 I hope it helps create some hype.
08:26 I'm really glad that IGN and Empire and another outlet
08:29 are saying that the movie is actually quite good,
08:32 somewhat as far to say amazing.
08:34 And it does sound like this is at least going to be better
08:36 than the first Captain Marvel film.
08:38 So I hope it does increase excitement for the movie.
08:41 Let me know if you are excited for this movie.
08:43 Are you going to go see it?
08:44 And if you are going to go see it,
08:46 are you seeing it because you want to
08:47 or kind of just because it's the MCU and you have to?
