NFC EAST: Washington Commanders Sluggish in Loss vs. New York Giants

00:00 The Washington Commanders entered the season thinking that they could chase the best teams in the NFC East.

00:12 Commanders coming home after a disappointing 14-7 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, NFL Week 7.

00:21 The offense really struggling here, failing to score any points in the first half.

00:25 Sam Howell, the quarterback, had just 51 passing yards in the first half with an interception.

00:30 Also, sacked five times in the first half alone.

00:34 Second half, defense helps out a little bit. The Commanders didn't allow a single point in the second half.

00:39 But, the offense still couldn't get much going.

00:43 A third quarter touchdown run by Brian Robinson, but otherwise, the Commanders could not score in a 14-7 loss.

00:50 Washington did have a big opportunity late in the game. A long 17-play drive took seven minutes.

00:55 Unsuccessful in the red zone. Howell could not find Dotson on fourth and five with a minute to go in the game.

01:01 And that was that. Howell finished the game 22 of 42, 249 yards.

01:06 There was some respectable things, some glimpses of what this coaching staff and this roster are capable of.

01:15 But, Jonathan Allen nailed it in a not-safe-for-work, profanity-laced tirade in the locker room afterwards.

01:22 In which he said, "Seven leaping years of the same thing."

01:27 And of course, Commanders fans, you, feel very much the same way.

01:31 The loss puts the Commanders back under .500 with a 3-4 record.

01:35 They have tucked one win in the last five outings, but they are on a downward spiral.

01:41 The Giants actually improved to 2-5.

01:43 Commanders will try to get it done next week.

01:47 They play host to the NFC East leader, Philadelphia Eagles.

01:50 Who of course have a Sunday-nighter against the Dolphins.

01:54 That is an opportunity for Jonathan Allen and Sam Howell and the rest to get this fixed.

02:01 But, the Eagles are a major obstacle.

02:04 And surely a Commanders fan will fear that a week from now, we might hear Jonathan Allen with some more profane rants.
