00:15 We come here, we drive these cars countless loops

00:23 We got a high speed oval, we got a little track,
00:25 we got special surfaces.
00:27 Kind of a potato chip.
00:30 We got public roads here in Tehachapi.
00:32 We put every car through its paces
00:34 until we eventually decide on a winner.
00:36 Okay, we're in the Audi A6, and a very strong contender.
00:40 This has a shot of being a finalist,
00:41 so it's got a good platform, it's affordable,
00:44 it looks nice.
00:45 In some of the fun drag cars,
00:46 you'll get that weight transfer,
00:47 and then you'll just hear this terrible plowing noise
00:50 from the tire.
00:50 This car is so planted, and it does such a good job
00:52 with the suspension that you can just power through it.
00:55 At this point in the process, we've driven everything,
00:57 and we're ready to take the group of cars
00:58 from here down to about here.
01:01 We are ready to make the first cut,
01:02 which translates to about two hours of screaming
01:05 and arguments and crying.
01:07 However, we will wind up with a number of finalists,
01:09 and from that group, we will select our 2019 Car of the Year.
