00:13 you may just have overlooked a long time ago and you know the rest.

00:22 Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith.

00:26 The Millennium Falcon Revenge of the Sith gets underway with one
00:28 of the most thrilling space skirmishes the entire Skywalker saga has ever brought into
00:33 existence.
00:34 And it's after the dust has settled on Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi's daring rescue
00:39 of Palpatine and improvised landing of an entire cruiser on Coruscant when an iconic
00:44 ship in its own right glides onto the scene.
00:46 If you look closely at the scene depicting the Jedi heroes hopping off a transporter
00:51 post fiery landing, you'll spot Han Solo and Chewbacca's future mode of trusty transport
00:56 in the Millennium Falcon landing in the same locale at this very moment.

01:02 A foreshadowy goodbye Clearly relishing the opportunity to hint
01:06 at the inevitable fate fans already knew was on the horizon for the likes of Anakin Skywalker
01:11 and Obi-Wan Kenobi throughout his prequel set of features, George Lucas was at it again
01:15 when it came time for the Apprentice to bid farewell to his master before they went their
01:20 separate ways early on in Episode 3.
01:22 With the troubled youngster being shrouded in shadow during this conversation with his
01:26 patient brother-like figure, and the latter very much being illuminated by light, it's
01:31 clear the Star Wars creator was alluding to what lay ahead for both characters down the
01:35 road.
01:36 Kenobi's goodbye old friend had long acted as a rather significant beat in its own right
01:40 too, with those pretty much being the last words the Jedi Master would utter to his padawan
01:45 before he finally crossed over into the darkness.
01:48 And the development of Kenobi later building on this fateful farewell with this heart-wrenching
01:52 goodbye daft, after their climactic rematch of the century in Obi-Wan Kenobi, has only
01:57 made this scene that little more impactful as time has gone by.
02:01 #18 - Obi-Wan Kenobi is quite the prolific pilot
02:03 It's not exactly a secret that Obi-Wan Kenobi isn't what you'd class as the most enthusiastic
02:09 fighter pilot in the galaxy.
02:11 However, a quick look at Kenobi's Jedi starfighter of choice, the Etna II Actis Class Light Interceptor,
02:17 tells the story of a pilot who is much more comfortable behind a steering wheel than you
02:21 may have expected.
02:22 As seen when the ship is very much parked aboard a Separatist cruiser, Kenobi appears
02:27 to have been keeping count of his numerous enemy kills whilst flying the Crimson Bird
02:31 in space.
02:32 And by looking at the shape of said ship markings, it appears the top rows consist of the number
02:36 of droid tri-fighters Kenobi has dispatched, with the bottom being dedicated to the impressive
02:41 number of CIS Destroyers Providence Class that he's helped take out.
02:45 #17 - It was the first ever PG-13 Star Wars movie
02:49 The visuals of everything from Anakin alluding to the cutting down of innocent children,
02:53 to a severely melted Palpatine letting loose UNLIMITED POWER, were enough to guarantee
02:59 a first for George Lucas' galaxy far, far away.
03:03 As it goes, Revenge of the Sith holds the honour of being the first ever Star Wars feature
03:07 to head into theatres with a PG-13 certificate.
03:10 Oddly enough though, neither of the aforementioned moments was said to have actually contributed
03:14 towards the film being released under this rating, with it being the moment Anakin is
03:18 burned to a crisp on Mustafar that was responsible for the eventual PG-13 decision.
03:23 #16 - A familiar cyborg cough Ever wondered what goes into bringing the
03:27 disturbing splutters of a deadly cyborg to life on the big screen?
03:31 Well it turns out that all you need is a once-in-a-generation movie maker with a bad chest infection and
03:36 a microphone.
03:37 With George Lucas himself suffering from bronchitis at the time of shooting, and creating the
03:42 robotic Separatist General, the creator decided that his chesty cough wouldn't feel out
03:46 of place, tumbling out of General Grievous' artificial body over the course of the flick.
03:51 So every time you hear Grievous let loose one of his notable throat bursts in the flick,
03:55 you're actually taking in the coughs of the creator himself after choosing to head
03:59 into work under the weather.
04:00 What a hero.
04:01 #15 - The Death Star Nods After being spotted in the background on Geonosis
04:06 during Attack of the Clones, Chief Palpatine's ominous plans to forge the galaxy's most
04:10 terrifying superweapon were once again on show during Revenge of the Sith within the
04:15 secret Sith's office.
04:16 And while the sight of Palps having a quick scan of his Death Star plans via red hologram
04:20 - because why would a Sith in hiding use the blue alternative air yet? - was pretty tough
04:25 to miss in Episode 3, there's every chance you overlook the fact the Death Star makes
04:28 its presence known in his office decor too.
04:31 As Anakin enters the space to converse with his future master, you'll see the two tables
04:36 sandwiching him both boasting what appears to be the image of the eventual space station.
04:41 #14 - More Lucas Family Cameos George Lucas doesn't half enjoy stuffing his
04:45 family into his flicks under many a different alien disguise.
04:49 Revenge of the Sith was no different, with Katie Lucas rounding off her trilogy of cameo
04:53 appearances by showing up as Chi-Ikwe Papanoida at the opera Anakin and Palpatine take in
04:58 during the feature, and Jet Lucas returning as Padawan Jedi Zet Jucasa before getting
05:04 gunned down by clones in front of Bail Organa.
05:06 Only this time, instead of leaving all the fun to his youngsters, George himself got
05:10 in on the action, beside his daughter as Baron Neoluwiski Papanoida, living his best intergalactic
05:16 life whilst painted in blue during the aforementioned opera scene.
05:20 #13 - A Few Lightsaber Mishaps With the sheer amount of attention being paid
05:24 to ensuring the state-of-the-art visual effects were on point, and the story being told was
05:28 one able to grip and captivate the masses for years to come, a few unfortunate mistakes
05:33 elsewhere were always likely to wiggle into the Episode 3 end product.
05:37 Most notably on two separate occasions, it appears the person in charge with continuity
05:41 and/or props on set dropped the ball a touch when it came to a thrilling lightsaber duel.
05:46 First up, when Palpatine is seen battling away with Mace Windu and a number of other
05:50 Jedi Masters upon being uncovered as the Dark Lord of the Sith, the diabolical villain's
05:56 lightsaber switches from his own distinct variation of the weapon to Anakin Skywalker's
06:00 unmistakable hilt.
06:01 This was likely due to the fact a scene depicting Palps taking up Anakin's weapon in the battle
06:06 was later changed up, but the shot in question was still left in the end product.
06:10 Elsewhere as Anakin and Obi-Wan duel on Mustafar, another bizarre saber swap goes down as the
06:15 former attempts to impale the latter with his own blade, before it then appearing to
06:19 be Skywalker's weapon during the attempted scorching.
06:21 Ah, weird.
06:22 #12 - A Clone Trooper Boxing a Battle Droid Let it be known that there are more than a
06:27 few ways to pick off a battle droid in the heat of battle.
06:30 If you slow down the action a touch as Obi-Wan hops on his trusty space lizard to chase after
06:35 General Grievous on Utapau, a sequence showing off a CGI clone trooper boxing the stuffing
06:40 out of a battle droid can be seen going down within the chaotic locale.
06:44 Turns out some of these Jango copies had the eye of the tiger too.
06:47 #11 - Qui-Gon and Anakin Share a Funeral Theme Music has always acted as a seriously powerful
06:53 tool in the crafting of many a Star Wars story, with George Lucas regularly using motifs as
06:58 a way of foreshadowing a dark fate for a set of characters.
07:02 That was definitely the case when it came to the long-awaited introduction of Darth
07:06 Vader in his final cyborg form late in the day, with a rather familiar piece of music
07:11 alluding to a conclusion Obi-Wan Kenobi was having trouble coming to terms with.
07:15 With the same music used during the cremation of Master Qui-Gon Jinn being present in the
07:19 scene involving Vader going on a mad one after hearing of his beloved Padme Amidala being
07:23 supposedly killed by his hand, Lucas seems to be musically hinting at Anakin being very
07:28 much dead and gone in this moment, much like Jinn was in the Phantom Menace.
07:33 How deep.
07:34 #10 - A Deliberately Uncomfortable Vader Suit There's actually a very good reason Hayden
07:39 Christensen resembled a toddler figuring out how to execute his very first steps during
07:43 the closing stages of Revenge of the Sith.
07:45 In an effort to showcase the fact that Anakin Skywalker was still coming to terms with his
07:49 brand new way of being, Lucas went out of his way to make the iconic suit deliberately
07:54 top-heavy by doing things like making the legendary helmet particularly weighty.
07:58 And this very much helped give off the impression that Skywalker wasn't too accustomed to
08:02 his new suit in the debuting of his new look.
08:05 #9 - Hayden Christensen Packed on the Weight for Anakin Speaking of Hayden Christensen
08:10 being put through the ringer when artificially breathing some life into Anakin Skywalker/Darth
08:15 Vader in Revenge of the Sith, it wasn't simply a case of the disturbed Jedi actor rocking
08:19 back up to set in the same physical form he had for Attack of the Clones when the time
08:23 came to shoot this prequel closer.
08:25 With Lucas wanting Christensen to resemble more of an intimidating force throughout the
08:29 third episode, the actor was tasked with piling on some pounds and bulking up for his return.
08:34 And after putting away a reported six meals a day in the lead-up to shooting, Hayden was
08:39 said to have piled on a whopping 24 pounds by the time he hulked up on the big screen
08:43 in 2005.
08:45 It often goes overlooked just how jacked Christensen genuinely got for this final prequel showing,
08:50 and his shift from 160lbs to 185lbs no doubt aided him during those aforementioned heavy
08:56 Vader sequences too.
08:58 #8 - More Visual Effects Were Shot Than Any Other Prequel George Lucas most definitely
09:03 doubled down on his love of all things computer generated when it came to blasting his prequel
09:07 adventures into hyperspace.
09:09 And while the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones were clearly not lacking in the
09:13 CGI and VFX department, coming in with a jaw-dropping 1,950 and 2,200 visual effects shots was a
09:20 huge leap forward for Lucas.
09:21 Revenge of the Sith took things to another level entirely in 2005.
09:26 Boasting a frankly insane 2,400 visual effects shots throughout, it's often forgotten that
09:31 Episode 3 easily sits as the most effect-heavy flick in Lucas' back catalogue, absolutely
09:37 blowing the more humble 360 uses of visual effects seen in A New Hope back in 1977 out
09:43 of the VFX waters.
09:44 And according to Visual Effects Supervisor John Knoll, even The Force Awakens only came
09:49 in with just under 2,000 visual effects shots.
09:52 #7 - C-3PO's Frustrating Armour Despite not exactly stealing the show in his
09:57 few fleeting appearances in the trilogy closer, Anthony Daniels' C-3PO actually played host
10:02 to one of the most unexpected dilemmas the crew behind Revenge of the Sith had to overkill
10:07 him.
10:08 That being the fact his unmistakable golden armour just so happened to reflect a set stuffed
10:12 with vibrant green and blue screens.
10:15 With this in mind, the VFX squad behind Episode 3 were forced to repaint all of 3PO's armour
10:20 in post, manually, whenever he arrived on the scene to comfort Padme Amidala.
10:25 This means every time you spot Daniels neurotically jolting around the scene within the flick,
10:28 you're actually taking in some of the most subtle and soul-crushing CGI ever pumped into
10:33 the galaxy.
10:34 #6 - Only 10 Men Wore Wookiee Suits The return of one of the most cherished fur
10:38 balls the original trilogy had to offer, only this time alongside the rest of his fiery
10:42 race, brought with it some of the most inspired costume design of its time.
10:46 All in all though, Chewbacca's re-emergence beside a fleet of other passionate and courageous
10:51 Wookiees on Kashyyyk only ever saw a grand total of 10 dudes boasting the hairiest torso
10:56 in the galaxy throughout shooting.
10:58 So how was George Lucas able to successfully build one of the most ferocious armies ever
11:02 to charge into battle within the Star Wars universe?
11:04 Well, yeah, you guessed it.
11:06 After he'd thrown this lucky 10 souls into their Wookiee get-up, Lucas and his VFX team
11:11 were able to duplicate the growling figures in post-production, after repositioning the
11:15 actors on multiple occasions during a number of takes, and adding them back into the shot
11:20 at a later date to make it look like there were more Wookiees present.
11:23 You can never have too many, can you?
11:25 #5 - The Second Highest-Grossing Movie of 2005 Worldwide
11:30 For the most part, it's usually safe to assume that if a year is boasting a brand new release
11:34 from one of the biggest and most loved franchises ever to be unleashed on a movie theatre, said
11:39 12-month period won't likely see any other flick surpass its overall box office haul.
11:44 And while that still was clearly the case domestically when it came to Revenge of the
11:47 Sith's 2005 release, the same could not be said for its worldwide release.
11:52 None other than those bumbling wizards and witches over in J.K.
11:55 Rowling's Wizarding World were actually able to capture more attention and dollars
11:59 than George Lucas' last prequel outing, with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire beating
12:04 out episode 3's $868 million splash with a staggering $895 million made at the worldwide
12:12 box office.
12:13 Either way, 2005 definitely marked the year of the Dark Lords.
12:17 #4 - The Death Count While it may be stating the obvious a touch,
12:21 a film boasting the complete and utter massacring of the Jedi Order comes equipped with a frankly
12:25 insane amount of death from start to finish.
12:28 Just how many droids, Jedi, Sith and other innocent civilians perished over the course
12:32 of George Lucas' deadly conclusion to his prequel set of flicks?
12:36 According to the list of deaths wiki, when factoring in every battle droid punched to
12:41 pieces, Jedi Master blasted out of a window and heartbroken mother who passed on in childbirth,
12:46 a whopping 535,788 entities didn't make it out of this one alive.
12:52 Half a million.
12:54 In terms of who holds the unsettling honour of most kills in the feature, you won't
12:58 be too short to discover Emperor Palpatine taking home the gold with his murdering of
13:02 9,901 via his Order 66 declaration.
13:07 #3 - The 501st Legion And with said Order 66 culling in mind, those
13:12 obedient stormtroopers seen cutting down many a youngling, padawan and master within the
13:17 Jedi Temple in Coruscant aren't just any old battalion of duplicate boys.
13:21 The clone troopers decked out in undoubtedly awesome white and blue in this harrowing moment
13:25 are none other than the 501st Legion, a group of soldiers commanded by Anakin Skywalker and
13:31 Ahsoka Tano throughout the Clone Wars.
13:34 Their on-screen debut in the Star Wars universe via Avenger the Sith in the first place was
13:39 actually a way of saluting the real-life Vader's Fist fan organisation dedicated to creating
13:43 screen-accurate replicas of some of the galaxy's most legendary costumes.
13:48 The organisation, run entirely by volunteers, has also gone on to help raise millions for
13:52 charities all over the world.
13:54 So this cool canon nod to the folks fighting the good fight in the real world was a sweet
13:59 touch from Lucas and co.

14:01 The Tiny Amount of Antagonist Screen Time
14:03 Both Count Dooku and General Grievous play some rather vital parts in the final chapter
14:07 of this pre-original trilogy set of tales.
14:10 Attinger's physical pieces are foreshadowing to what Anakin Skywalker's eventual turn
14:14 to the dark side.
14:16 But away from Dooku representing a fallen Jedi and Grievous foreshadowing the cyborg
14:20 body heading Skywalker's way, you may be shocked to discover that these two despicable
14:24 fiends were actually only present on screen for a grand total of 8 minutes combined.
14:29 Now sure, a large chunk of the narrative is taken up by Anakin's descent into Diakness
14:34 - a process accelerated by Palpatine's villainous on-screen presence for 24 minutes 45 seconds
14:39 of course - but it's still interesting to note how big an impact both Revenge of the
14:43 Sith antagonists had on proceedings, despite their evident lack of real-time to shine.
14:48 1.
14:49 Lightsaber Firsts and Onlies
14:51 With so many sacred Jedi and Sith weapons being brandished over the feature's massive
14:56 140-minute runtime, it was only natural for a few lightsaber firsts to pop up on the prequel
15:01 screen throughout Episode 3.
15:03 First up, the scene depicting Mace Windu trying to arrest Sheev Palpatine with the help of
15:07 a group of other Jedi Masters holds the honour of being the first and only Star Wars movie
15:11 scene to possess four different lightsaber colours on show during a showdown - blue,
15:16 green, red and purple, naturally.
15:19 And another first and only occurrence can be spotted during Obi-Wan and Anakin's fateful
15:23 Mustafar melee.
15:25 With this duel amidst the flames being the only ever Star Wars movie scene depicting
15:29 two - in this case blue - blades of the same colour going at it.
