00:00 Hi, I'm Thomas Grant and I play Albus Potter.
00:02 And I'm Adam Wadsworth and I play Scorpius Malfoy.
00:05 And we're going to break down a couple of scenes for you from the show.
00:09 We are, and we've never seen them before so we're very excited/a little bit nervous.
00:13 Okay, let's go.
00:14 So this is the first scene that Scorpius and Albus meet.
00:18 I came from the trolley dance!
00:20 And it's a really special scene. It's the first time I get to see them have the connection that's so important for the rest of the show.
00:26 Meeting on the Hogwarts Express is like the most important thing ever.
00:31 And you've got Grace just absolutely killing it.
00:34 Doing a fantastic job as my cousin Rose.
00:36 Oh, I love her.
00:42 I've never seen that bit before. It's so nice.
00:54 That's my favourite line of Harry Potter.
00:56 Don't do it.
00:57 He's so loud it actually makes me fall.
01:00 And the audience then realise that this is a character, your character, that kind of bucks all the rules of the Harry Potter world.
01:07 It's really refreshing.
01:08 I think that for the first part of the play up to this point, it's very recognisable.
01:14 We're brought back into the wizarding world that we know so well.
01:18 And then as soon as Scorpius starts speaking, he absolutely upends that by being so different from everything else we've seen.
01:26 The rumour is that my parents couldn't have children.
01:30 That my father and my grandfather were so desperate for a powerful heir to prevent the end of the Malfoy line
01:38 that they used a time turner to send my mother back.
01:41 The moment where we hear about Scorpius and his backstory and his history and the rumour is a really important part of the play.
01:50 But also, it's a really sad bit for him as well.
01:55 It's a sad bit for him and it's a moment of connection for Albus and Scorpius because they both have difficult fathers that have difficult stories in their own way.
02:05 That's really how Albus sees him as someone that he can finally connect with.
02:12 Because Albus has been the odd one out in his family, that's really straight down the middle.
02:16 You know, sporty, Gryffindor's cool, he's the odd one.
02:19 Going on to Hogwarts Express, he's making friends, he's already having a pretty tough time, everyone's staring at him.
02:24 And then he's got this person who everyone stares at for other reasons.
02:28 But he can really relate to the type of little quirky kid at school.
02:35 Do you prefer Albus or Al?
02:38 Albus.
02:40 Well, thanks for staying for my sweets, Albus!
02:45 Yeah, you can see that.
02:48 I know, I've never seen that before, which is wonderful.
02:51 It's mad, it took a lot of time to be able to learn how to shoot Steve out of my ears.
02:55 And he has to do a test at the start of each show, and he never seems to warn us.
03:01 We're just like, "Oh my goodness, okay."
03:04 Thank you so much for watching this scene with us.
03:07 We've incredibly enjoyed it, and we hope you can watch it live in the Palace Theatre soon.
03:12 See you later!
