Transcript
00:00 I'm sitting with Brian Lizotte at Lizotte's Dinner Club and it's October 18th, 2023.
00:14 Brian's about to hand the club over to new owners, so we're reminiscing on some of the
00:19 great moments of the past.
00:21 Brian, what is the best seat in the house?
00:25 The best seat here at Lizotte's in Newcastle I would have to say is the King's Table.
00:32 That's right in the middle of the room here.
00:36 Available, no extra charge.
00:39 If you get in there early enough to get the King's Table I'd highly recommend it.
00:44 What's the best business decision you've ever made, Brian?
00:48 The best business decision I've ever made was definitely to probably purchase this beautiful
00:53 old theatre and with the happiness that I've had in the last 15 years I'm very happy to
00:59 pass that on to someone.
01:01 Who's the best instrumentalist you've ever seen on your stage here?
01:06 Instrumentalist I would have to say a Japanese-American called Jake Shimabukuro.
01:13 He is one of the most virtuoso ukulele players in the world and he actually lit the place up.
01:21 What's the best night off you've ever had after a show here?
01:25 The best night off I've ever had after a show here was probably when I took my wife out
01:33 just recently for dinner.
01:37 Have you ever pulled an all-nighter here at the club?
01:40 We have pulled several all-nighters here at the club.
01:45 I remember one night with Brian Cadd was a very special one.
01:52 In particular I think my favourite of all time was feeding Taj Mahal and drinking red
01:58 wine with him until four o'clock in the morning.
02:02 What's the best show you've ever seen anywhere, Brian?
02:06 The best show I've ever seen was Midnight Oil at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
02:12 What's the best meal you've ever had in your life?
02:17 That's another hard one, Jim.
02:20 I'd have to say a very memorable meal that I had was sitting on a balcony at a little
02:27 tiny restaurant on the Malta, the island of Malta and late at night we had a beautiful
02:36 fish and salad dish that was a knock your socks off in the Mediterranean Sea.
02:44 Where are you going to be three months from today, Brian?
02:50 I'm going to be putting my feet up somewhere in fresh air, taking in the ocean air.
03:03 What's your final goodbye to the fans who've come to this club for the last 15 years?
03:08 Thank you for your unwavering passion for music and food.
03:15 It's been an absolute pleasure to look after your social lives all these years.
03:20 I can't thank you enough for allowing us to be able to bring you all of these fabulous
03:27 artists because without Buns on Seats none of this is possible.
03:31 We hope that your social lives are looked after for many, many years to come as I'm
03:35 sure that Wayne and James will do that.
03:38 We might see you on the stage in the near future too.
03:41 I plan to be a better trombone player in my next life, my next chapter.
03:47 You'll be seeing me on some stages around the place.
03:51 Later on this year I'll probably get up with my brother and a few other acts.
03:57 I've just got my first job next year.
04:00 I'll be playing at the Birdsville Bash if you all want to come out and see us.
04:04 Get your tickets now.
04:07 Thank you for many, many great nights.
04:09 It's a pleasure.
