00:15 Let's find out here in "Negosyo Tayo".
00:18 It's in our culture and tradition, Filipinos, to get together whenever we have achievements
00:26 or special occasions. We usually invite family or friends to eat out.
00:34 Today, our guest is an owner of a restaurant and bar to find out her secret to a successful business.
00:50 I thought I would be retiring as a government employee because I've been working for like 17 long years
00:58 in a government agency as a public relations officer.
01:02 Actually, I'm already a businesswoman.
01:05 Even back then, during my high school days, even in my elementary days,
01:09 I was really into selling things. I had everything I could sell.
01:15 So I had it. So it all started with life insurance business.
01:19 So that was the start of my business career.
01:25 So I was able to save for my businesses.
01:30 I'm just thinking of a small coffee shop, but what happened?
01:37 It was like a coffee shop at the same time a restaurant.
01:42 Aside from my two existing cafes and bars, I also have an aerial.
01:49 It's a by-law. It's an aerial sale.
01:52 And now I am establishing perfumes before the pandemic, right?
01:57 So it was a huge struggle.
02:00 Do you know that in our area, all the stores and restaurants are closed?
02:08 I'm the only one who's open. Not because I know I'm earning,
02:13 but because I want that my employees still have the income and the employment.
02:20 Because a lot of people are struggling at that time.
02:23 That's why I said, "My husband asked me."
02:25 As long as there's something to fill, fill it up.
02:28 Life is a cycle. You are giving help to people.
02:32 You don't know, there's someone else helping you.
02:36 The key point of business is the employees.
02:40 So if you give something to them, they will also respond to that.
02:45 So in that sense, you will really prosper.
02:51 I feel like crying because I also started with general merchandise.
02:57 All the businesses were closed.
03:00 I was just trying, I was just beating all those merchandise.
03:06 Because, and I'm working during that time, I was pregnant at that time.
03:12 That's my strength, my children.
03:16 That I have to build this dream, I have to really achieve my goal
03:21 because of my children, because they are my life.
03:25 Work hard and you have to be determined.
03:30 What is your goal? What do you want?
03:32 And the most important thing is you have faith in God and faith in yourself.
03:38 You have to believe in yourself.
03:40 The most important thing is that you always stand still despite the challenges.
03:46 You are still proud to say, "I can do this. I will fight this."

03:58 Family support is one of the most important aspects of a person's success.
04:03 As long as your inspiration is your family, all of this is within your reach.
04:09 That is the lesson that Bernadette Jimenez Ipanag shared with us.
04:14 In our next episode of "Pag-ikita mga Kanigosyo,"
04:16 we will share with you a new business story and business tips.
