00:00 TAFE's going to get a real big boost out of the recent training agreement that we signed

00:04 with the Federal Government.

00:06 We need to do a lot more work in New South Wales to develop the skills for the future

00:10 and part of what we're seeing here in TAFE in Griffith is a really important part of

00:15 that.

00:16 There's been a strong investment in up-to-date equipment in the engineering, the metal facility

00:21 here, and Griffith really is a centre for a lot of that sort of activity around this

00:27 part of New South Wales.

00:28 Well I think the most important thing that's going to be happening over the next few years

00:32 is that we're seeing more money coming into the people side.

00:35 So the Federal Government has increased funding that's coming to New South Wales and we'll

00:40 be working to try and rebuild TAFE, try to get more of the teachers on permanent contracts,

00:46 so a lot of temporary teachers at the moment.

00:49 Make sure we've got enough teachers in the spaces to teach the number of students that

00:54 we need coming through to fill those skills gaps.

00:57 For instance, in Australia overall, just to make the energy transition to net zero

01:04 over the next few years to 2030, we're going to need 213,000 more workers.

01:09 So that tells you when you're looking at the whole scope from the electrical side of

01:14 that through to the welding side and building wind farms and those sort of things, we're

01:17 going to need a lot more people so we've got to keep boosting TAFE to achieve that.
