Halloween is almost upon - which can either a night for trick-or-treating with the kids, heading out for a sillier-than-typically night out, or just switching off the lights and accepting no guests. We asked the Sheffield public what they are doing with the Halloween for 2023.

00:00 Hello, it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star. We're just out here today asking people if they've got Halloween plans this year, what they've got in the pipeline.
00:06 What's happening this year for you guys?
00:08 Well, I've just got plans to go and see my friends, maybe some parties.
00:12 But Halloween's become this massive thing recently, over the past few years, and I think a lot more people are celebrating it.
00:19 Less people are going trick-or-treating and more are dressing up. This isn't a massive thing, but I think people are dressing scary.
00:28 I just go out as an excuse to dress up as something random and then see my friends.
00:32 You said becoming something massive. Is it too busy? Is it over-celebrated?
00:37 I think it's over-celebrated because I'm not that big on Halloween. Clowns scare me, so I'm not really going to go dressed up as that.
00:44 I don't know why it's become such a big thing recently. I think more horror films are coming out, more people want to scare people. I don't know why.
00:53 More commercialised, I suppose.
00:56 Yeah, it's definitely more a money thing.
00:58 How about at home? Any plans this year?
01:00 Not this year. I've been just back to my daughter, but she's at university. So now she's here, I'm not going to bother her. I'm just going to turn the lights off and turn on the TV.
01:09 Turn the lights off, that's the rule.
01:11 In previous years, we'd go and celebrate and we'd not celebrate.
01:13 That's just because I'm there and I want to celebrate.
01:15 But now I'm not.
01:20 I'm taking my youngest daughter trick-or-treating, but that's it really. Otherwise we don't really make any big fuss about Halloween.
01:31 My partner owns a coffee shop in London, so they're putting on a big Halloween party, so the kids go trick-or-treating and then they'll come into the cafe for hot dogs.
01:45 Is it something of an annual thing?
01:47 - Yeah. - Yeah.
01:47 - Yeah.
01:48 Click. Thanks.
