00:00 We also looked and saw, and it was really appalling
00:03 what's happened in so many American universities
00:06 in response to the Hamas terrorist attacks.
00:09 Before the blood was even dry
00:12 on the Israeli civilians who were massacred,
00:15 you had college students going out
00:17 and demonstrating in favor of Hamas.
00:20 I was the first presidential candidate to say,
00:25 and I know a lot of them have now said the same,
00:27 but no one, you know, I'm always first
00:29 and then people kind of follow through.
00:31 That's how we've governed Florida
00:32 and that's how we are in this.
00:34 But I said very clearly that when I'm president,
00:38 if you are in our country on a student visa
00:42 and you're making common cause with Hamas,
00:45 I am canceling your visa
00:46 and I'm sending you home where you belong.
00:50 (audience applauding)
00:53 We also saw the rise of these chapters
01:04 called Students for Justice in Palestine.
01:08 (audience booing)
01:12 And this is a group that took pains to say
01:15 that they don't, quote, "stand in solidarity"
01:18 with what Hamas did, that they are one in the same
01:22 with what Hamas did.
01:24 Well, you know, you may have a First Amendment right
01:26 to say a lot of dumb things,
01:28 but you do not have a right
01:29 to give material support to terrorists,
01:31 so we deactivated the Students for Justice in Palestine
01:35 in the state of Florida, it's done.
01:37 (audience cheering)
01:39 And we're not gonna put up with this.
01:42 I'm sick of funding our enemies.
01:44 We're not doing that anymore in this country.
01:46 (audience cheering)
01:49 But it raises, and yes, we're happy to take action
01:55 in Florida, but if you look,
01:56 and if you looked at some of the university presidents
01:59 in Florida and the statements they put out,
02:02 they weren't morally equivalent, they were very strong.
02:05 That's what it should be,
02:06 yet that was so rare as to what was going.
02:08 You now have in most of these universities,
02:11 if you're a Jewish student,
02:13 you don't feel safe even going to class
02:16 in some of these places.
02:17 Do you wanna go to Cooper Union with how they handled that?
02:22 This has been disgraceful,
02:24 but it's been very eye-opening because,
02:26 oh, look, I got through both Harvard and Yale
02:29 and came out more conservative than when I went in.
02:31 That's not easy to do.
02:33 I know campus leftism, I've been there,
02:35 but even in my day, I would have never saw
02:38 that type of activism
02:40 where you're actually celebrating terrorists
02:42 and openly being anti-Semitic.
02:45 This is like something that,
02:46 and the media doesn't care when they're doing it,
02:48 they give 'em a free ride when they're doing it.
02:51 But what it raises is how sick these universities have become
02:56 because they've been captured by ideology.
02:59 They've been captured and corrupted by a woke agenda.
03:03 Anytime these institutions become corrupted by that,
03:07 they become useless for us,
03:09 and in Florida, we've taken action on that.
03:12 This whole thing of DEI, diversity, equity, and inclusion,
03:16 that's anti-Israel, it's anti-Jewish,
03:18 100% if you take that to the logical conclusion.
03:21 The way it's practiced,
03:23 DEI is really discrimination, exclusion, and indoctrination.
03:27 That has no place in our public universities,
03:30 and in Florida, we have banned it
03:33 from our public universities, it's done.
03:35 (audience cheering)
03:38 But we need to take this seriously
03:41 because it's only gonna get worse
03:43 unless we do for the country what we've done in Florida,
03:46 and that is very simple.
03:48 It's time for us to fight back, and fight back we must.
03:51 (audience applauding)
03:54 Florida was also the first state to announce,
03:56 and I'm calling the legislature back in
03:58 for a special session in the next couple weeks,
04:01 we are gonna expand our state-based sanctions
04:05 against the Iranian regime.
04:07 We already have some of the strongest in the United States.
04:11 We now have an ability to expand those
04:13 because the money that's going to Iran,
04:16 they're not using it to make
04:17 the lives of their people better.
04:19 They're using it to fund terrorism
04:21 throughout the Middle East.
04:23 So we're standing up, and we're doing what's right,
04:26 and again, this is about leading not with mere words,
04:29 but deeds, and we've done that time and time again.
