00:00 All right, we have quarterback Garrett Green.
00:02 Questions for Garrett?
00:03 I know you're sore.
00:04 Neil said some of that's your own fault.
00:05 You should learn to hand the ball off and not take a shot.
00:08 Yeah, in polite terms, I got to stop being a dumbass.
00:12 But, you know, that's just part of the way I play,
00:14 and, you know, sometimes I put myself in harm's way,
00:16 which, you know, they try their best to negate that.
00:19 But, you know, I mean, it's all right.
00:21 Go ahead. We got a win.
00:23 How important was that win overall?
00:25 I mean, you were there.
00:26 Lost two straight. Yeah.
00:27 Feeling down, so just getting the emotion
00:30 and momentum turned back around?
00:31 Yeah, it was big, you know.
00:33 You know, we haven't really played a complete game,
00:36 top to bottom, offense, defense, special teams.
00:40 I feel like we kind of played a complete game
00:42 other than, you know, offensive side, you know,
00:44 that we had that kind of two-minute drive before half
00:48 where I got to hit D.C. on the mesher.
00:51 But, you know, for the most part,
00:53 I think offense did enough to win.
00:56 First time you opened the game with a shot play to EJ.
00:59 Walk us through what you were thinking
01:00 when you made the throw.
01:02 Yeah, you know, they like playing that tight quarters,
01:06 and, you know, EJ ran a great route.
01:09 Everything was there.
01:11 We had the exact defense that we wanted to to that play,
01:16 and, you know, I just got to hit it.
01:17 You threw on the run line. Yeah.
01:19 Walk us through the matchups in the flat,
01:21 the play in the contain.
01:22 Yeah, you know, we liked our matchups
01:24 with our slot guys, D.C., Rodney.
01:26 We liked our matchup with them, too, on their safeties.
01:30 So that was something we just kept doing.
01:33 Did you have a mindset going into the,
01:35 "Hey, we've got to match these scores,"
01:37 because you know how strong their offense is?
01:40 Not really so much just for how strong their offense is.
01:43 I mean, JRP, me and him go back a long ways.
01:47 We had the same quarterback coach, Dimo, in Mobile.
01:49 So, you know, we're kind of similar players.
01:51 So I knew that they were going to move the ball,
01:53 but I had complete faith in our defense.
01:56 You know, as an offense, every time we touched the ball,
01:59 you know, every time we got for a drive,
02:00 we're trying to score touchdowns.
02:02 So it doesn't matter who it is.
02:04 You know, that's our goal.
02:06 Did you bowl? Yeah.
02:08 So, actually, my grandma, she's not a huge --
02:11 she didn't let my dad play football growing up,
02:14 and, you know, she's been a teacher
02:15 down in Miami for 24 years.
02:18 Yesterday was the first day she's asked for off,
02:21 and I don't know how long.
02:23 She's never seen me play in person.
02:25 Now, she watched all the games on TV,
02:27 but never seen me play in person.
02:28 So this ball's going to her.
02:30 Were you thinking of that when you went back into the game
02:32 after the first time you were down?
02:33 Not really. You know, it's more so just --
02:35 everybody in that locker room, they put in so much,
02:38 you know, between offensive lines, wide receivers,
02:42 running backs, tight ends,
02:43 and, you know, the whole defense, special teams,
02:44 everybody, they put in too much --
02:46 too much for me to let, you know,
02:47 a little ankle take me out.
02:49 That first fourth down attempt on your first drive,
02:52 I mean, obviously, convention may say kick it and go,
02:56 but you guys went for it and got it.
02:57 How important was it?
02:59 How gutsy of a call is that by the coach?
03:00 Yeah, you know, Coach Brown, I think,
03:02 thinks he's done a great job of kind of relaying to me,
03:05 you know, what -- how aggressive we're going to be,
03:08 and that was our mindset that, you know, anything close,
03:11 you know, we have faith in all the guys up front.
03:13 I know Doug went down, but full faith in Malone that,
03:17 you know, however many yards on fourth, we can get it.
03:20 And then late in the game, you go again on fourth and two.
03:24 And was that just pure RPO, and you hit EJ on the cross,
03:28 or what was that, and what did you see?
03:30 Yeah, so that was like kind of a design rollout.
03:33 We ran that same scheme a lot on third down,
03:36 and that was just a design rollout.
03:37 EJ -- I mean, EJ has done a great job of kind of --
03:40 you know, those crossers are hard because, you know,
03:43 you start on the backside, and you got to somehow get --
03:45 get into the quarterback's vision.
03:47 So EJ -- I think I hit him twice on it this game.
03:50 He's done a phenomenal job of kind of getting --
03:52 winning on the route and then getting into my throwing vision.
03:56 Last question.
03:57 How good is this offense when --
03:59 I mean, you can run it now and throw it.
04:01 I mean, early in the year, you were having trouble
04:02 in throwing the ball. Yeah.
04:03 Now that you've got sort of all facets going,
04:06 how good can this offense be?
04:07 Yeah, I think this offense can be as good as I let it,
04:10 you know?
04:11 You know, a lot of it falls on my shoulders.
04:13 You know, Coach Brown, Reagan, you know,
04:15 when I first saw the game plan on Monday,
04:17 I knew we had a great game plan.
04:18 We scored 41, but, you know, if I hit EJ on the first one,
04:23 you know, there's so many plays out there
04:25 that, you know, could have extended drives to two-minute.
04:28 I got to hit DC on that.
04:30 So there's so many points we left on the board.
04:33 But, you know, I'm happy we won.
04:35 Okay. Thank you, Garrett.
