Bringing some 1990s nostalgia into your Halloween costume is a fantastic idea! You can go as a '90s pop culture icon by dressing up as characters like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Cher from "Clueless," or even the Spice Girls for a group costume. Donning a grunge look with flannel, ripped jeans, and a Nirvana shirt will transport you back to the '90s alternative rock scene. Channel your inner '90s gamer with a Super Mario or Pokémon costume, or become a '90s TV legend with a Barney or Teletubbies outfit. The '90s had a treasure trove of iconic characters and styles to choose from, making it a great era for Halloween costume inspiration.

00:00 You probably begged your mom for a Tamagotchi back in the 90s.
00:05 Well, now you can actually become one!
00:09 Get a piece of cardboard, paint it yellow and cut it into the shape of a Tamagotchi.
00:14 Then copy the design of that popular Japanese toy by painting some buttons and writing "Tamagotchi" at the top.
00:21 Now the tech part!
00:23 Create a hole in the cardboard to fit a tablet and secure it in place with electrical tape.
00:28 Put a GIF of that adorable little creature on your tablet screen so it can keep playing over and over again.
00:34 Hang it around your neck and there you go!
00:39 Hey, hey! If it isn't Clippy popping out again!
00:42 To dress up like the friendly Microsoft Assistant, you first need a big piece of cardboard.
00:49 Outline Clippy's shape and then cut it out.
00:51 Wrap it with tinfoil and use duct tape to make it shine.
00:55 Big googly eyes would be perfect here, but finding and buying them can be a real challenge.
01:00 So, one alternative would be to draw eyes and eyebrows on a piece of paper and glue them to the cardboard.
01:07 At the party, don't forget to keep asking people if they need any help all the time.
01:13 The grunge scene was a big deal back in the 90s, but just throwing on a flannel shirt seems way too basic.
01:19 Spice things up and surf on the hype by adding a Barbie touch. Girly, yet fierce, you know?
01:26 Tear up fishnet stockings and wear them with platform combat boots.
01:31 Put on a pink flannel shirt, a black choker, and a blonde wig with a beanie hat.
01:36 To nail that grunge Barbie vibe, take a Discman and your favorite Nirvana album with you.
01:42 If it still works, of course.
01:47 Call your loved one to put together an epic Titanic couple costume.
01:52 Grab a cardboard box. Cut and shape it into a mini boat form, leaving out the stern part.
01:59 I mean the back part of the boat.
02:01 Paint the entire thing black with a white stripe at the top and write "Titanic" on it.
02:06 Next, use some strong tape to attach your boat securely to a skateboard.
02:10 Get on your knees on the skateboard and have your soulmate stand behind you.
02:14 This part is important for safety, as they can help you with braking.
02:19 It's time to embrace your inner Rose.
02:21 Stretch out your arms and yell "I'm flying, Jack!" as your skateboard is gliding down the street.
02:27 Don't forget to wear a helmet, please.
02:31 If you need a quick DIY costume, I got you.
02:34 The men in black option is always a go-to for last-minute invitations.
02:39 Wear a black suit, a black tie, and sunglasses.
02:42 But something seems to be missing.
02:45 Of course, an E.T.
02:47 Blow up a neon green balloon and draw alien eyes on it with a black marker.
02:52 If you're going as Agent J, don't forget to invite a friend to play Agent K.
02:57 Now the costume makes a whole lot more sense.
03:00 I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a funky, fresh 90s mixtape.
03:10 You've probably got a bunch of CDs lying around in some box at your place.
03:16 Let them sit in hot water for about 10 minutes.
03:20 And then use strong scissors to cut them into different shapes.
03:24 Don't stress over the format.
03:26 Use hot glue to attach them to an oversized jacket and old boots.
03:31 You'll definitely shine with this CD costume.
03:34 And let's hope no one mistakes you for a disco ball.
03:37 Speaking of it, you probably remember the iconic music video of "Hit Me Baby One More Time."
03:43 To recreate Britney's signature schoolgirl outfit,
03:47 simply throw on a pleated skirt over the knee socks and a white crop top tied in a knot.
03:52 Don't forget the pink pom-pom hair ties to hold up the pigtails.
03:56 Here's how to make them.
03:59 Grab a length of yarn and start wrapping it around your fingers.
04:03 Then slip the bundle off of your hand.
04:06 Tie the center with a small piece of yarn and cut all the loops.
04:11 Fluff it all out and trim off the excess to create a round shape.
04:15 To finish it, use one yarn end to attach an elastic hair tie.
04:19 There you have it.
04:21 Now that you already know how to make pom-poms, create a bunch of them in different colors.
04:27 Then glue or sew them onto a pink dress.
04:30 In case you haven't figured it out,
04:32 you've just created colorful sparkles for your frosted animal crackers costume.
04:37 Yummy!
04:39 Wow, a magic 8-ball!
04:42 Wait, an interactive magic 8-ball costume does sound fun.
04:47 Start by crafting a giant 8-ball using a cardboard cutout and painting it to look like the classic toy.
04:54 Then wear it like a sandwich board.
04:57 Take with you some triangular-shaped cards with answers like "Without a doubt", "Most likely", and "My reply is no".
05:05 During the party, play the part of a fortune teller and invite your friends to ask you questions.
05:10 I can't predict the future, but I'm pretty sure you will have a lot of fun with it.
05:16 You have an important choice to make.
05:20 A blue pill or a red pill?
05:23 Channel a cyberpunk power couple inspired by the 99 blockbuster, The Matrix.
05:29 Copy Neo's and Trinity's iconic look by wearing sleek black trench coats, black sunglasses, and leather pants.
05:36 Super easy and cool!
05:39 The troll doll's costume is definitely a funny choice.
05:44 But let's face it, having hair that sticks straight up is a must-have.
05:48 So, here's a hack.
05:50 First, comb your hair and tease it to add volume.
05:53 Then, pull it up strand by strand and apply a strong hairspray.
05:58 Create a cone from a piece of paper and tape it in place.
06:02 Next, put the cone in the center of your head and brush your hair up around it.
06:06 Tie it with a hair elastic and apply temporary hair color spray.
06:11 Blue or pink are great options.
06:14 Dive into the Pulp Fiction world with a Vincent Vega and Mia Wallace costume.
06:19 For him, rock that slicked back hair, black suit, thick sideburns, and a tie that screams "I mean business!"
06:27 Mia needs that iconic bob wig, sharp bangs, red lips, and an oversized white shirt.
06:33 Oh, and there's a twist! I mean, literally.
06:37 So don't forget to rehearse the steps with your loved one.
06:40 Let's say you're more traditional and want to keep the spooky vibe of the season.
06:46 Got it. A scream mask it is.
06:49 But the thing is, this is probably one of the most popular costumes of all time.
06:54 So, to avoid looking the same as many others, you can glue gemstones onto it for a bedazzled vibe.
07:01 You'll definitely need some patience to glue them one by one, but it'll be worth it.
07:05 Getting deeper into the creepy zone, you can create a haunted Furby costume.
07:13 I know, that's any 90's child's worst nightmare.
07:17 Start with an old, oversized fluffy coat.
07:20 Now paint scary and veiny eyes on half-foam balls.
07:24 Next, glue them onto the costume.
07:27 Paint your face white for a more ghostly look.
07:30 Make everything a little spookier by carrying a voice recorder that plays distorted Furby phrases like
07:36 "Me no see you" or "Food, please. Hungry."
07:41 Ugh, chills.
07:43 If you're always glued to your BFF and it happens that you both love Toy Story,
07:49 the Slinky Dog costume is for you.
07:52 Put on brown clothes and connect both outfits with a large plastic Slinky that is about 5 or 7 inches across.
08:00 The person that goes in the front should wear a headband with dog ears,
08:04 while the one in the back should have a tail glued to their pants.
08:07 And you're all set!
08:10 I know it feels like a universe far, far away, but Pluto was still our dear 9th planet in the 90's.
08:17 Or at least, that's what they taught us in school.
08:20 Pay tribute to this cosmic cousin by hanging a cardboard circle around your neck.
08:26 Paint it in different shades of reddish brown and grey.
08:30 Here's a Pluto pic in case you've already forgotten what it looks like.
08:34 In the center, put on a sash that reads "Rejected."
08:38 Poor Pluto.
08:39 Funny idea, though.
08:42 That's it for today!
08:43 So, hey, if you pacified your curiosity, then give the video a like and share it with your friends.
