00:00 With ARK Survival Ascended just around the corner, we need to talk about the differences
00:04 we will see from when ARK first released, compared to the release of the new remaster ARK Survival Ascended.
00:09 We now know a lot more confirmed information, so we will discuss the newest leaks.
00:12 We will discuss how the remaster of ARK will compare to day one ARK from 2015. Today,
00:17 we are covering the top 10 differences from ARK Survival Evolved, compared to ARK Survival Ascended, in no particular order.
00:23 With the leaks that have come, yes, that's a water pun,
00:27 we now know that ARK Survival Ascended is using a plugin called Fluid Ninja, a plugin for Unreal Engine that makes the water look much more realistic.
00:35 We see waves and object interaction with the water, and also possibly more physics with the sand and reactions.
00:41 What this will mean is that the ocean will be way more dynamic and raft adventures might feel very much like ARK's sister game, Atlas.
00:47 But let's take that with a grain of salt, or an ocean of salt, because Atlas has a pretty bad track record.
00:53 But the one thing it does well is the water dynamics and the physics, where the waves interact with your boat or your raft in ARK's case.
01:00 I for one am looking forward to this because for a long time, ARK's water has been very one-dimensional.
01:04 This will shake things up and rock the boat. What do you guys think of this change?
01:08 I'm really looking forward to it. Anything that makes the game feel fresh and alive and gives ARK Survival Ascended that value
01:14 over ARK Survival Evolved, I'm all here for it. We need to get our money's worth from ARK Survival Ascended,
01:20 so let's hope this adds some value to it.
01:24 Next up, we have creature pathing fixes. For the longest time, ARK has had an issue with dumb dinos.
01:30 Dino pathing and creature pathing, that can be outdone by a simple rock or cliff.
01:34 Making the risk of fighting ancient beasts easy for experienced players by simply trapping the AI.
01:39 With ARK Survival Ascended, this will be supposedly fixed.
01:42 And what this means is the AI should be smarter and harder to escape.
01:46 And I hope this also means less dinos phasing through walls.
01:50 Again, this should make ARK Survival Ascended feel more alive and add more risk to exploring the world.
01:54 Imagine if you couldn't get away from a raptor and couldn't get it stuck in a rock or jump off a cliff.
01:59 And it chased you on top of it.
02:01 This would make for some really dynamic gameplay and really diversify ARK in my opinion.
02:05 While Ju has covered a lot of information,
02:07 make sure to give him a sub. And he's got some quotes from Jatt discussing the improved nav mesh.
02:12 And saying the AI in Unreal Engine 5 is much better. On Twitter,
02:15 there was a lot of people discussing how we'll no longer be able to escape from most of the AI.
02:20 So it means we'll have to fight. It means the wild tames won't just be background characters.
02:25 We'll actually have to be careful and take note of them.
02:28 I know a lot of people won't like and there's a lot of counters for most of the creatures.
02:32 To counter raptors, you simply need a bowler. So it just means we'll have to be prepared.
02:36 What do you guys think of this change? Let me know in the comments below. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
02:39 With ARK Survival Ascended, oh baby, are there some big changes. Yep, you heard it right.
02:44 Babies are spawning in the wild on the new revamp of ARK. And what's more is that some of them are tameable.
02:50 Jatt on the ARK Discord said that we will need to defeat the mummy and daddy dino in combat to get the baby.
02:56 So this is a completely new set of mechanics and sounds amazing.
03:00 I'm sure it'll be some sort of minigame puzzle challenge and not just the old hack and slash we are used to. At least,
03:06 that's what I hope it'll be. But Jatt also further clarified that not all dinos will come as babies in the wild.
03:11 So I'm guessing this might be some new mechanics for certain creatures with aggressive parents like rexes or other carnivores.
03:17 But this sounds really cool and again just diversifies. It makes the new revamp sound even more dynamic.
03:24 Imagine you're running through the forest and you suddenly come across a mummy and daddy rex and their baby.
03:31 And with the new path and you have to fight them.
03:33 It might be a real challenge to actually battle them now with the new AI pathfinding as well.
03:38 You can fight them and tame them. It's not just the same old knock this out, breed it mechanics that we are used to.
03:45 It's definitely gonna feel very fresh and different with this added into the mix. What do you guys think of this mechanic?
03:51 Next up we have the new minimap addition.
03:54 So I'm guessing this will be a toggle on or off feature, but we will be getting a minimap with pan, zooms and pings.
04:00 So for PvP and PvE, this will be great.
04:03 You might have tribe markers to mark a position of a tame that is knocked out so everyone can see it.
04:08 I mean we already have tracking anyway,
04:09 but still it's added visuals and
04:11 marking enemy players in PvP could be really useful for PvP scenarios.
04:15 A lot of people are saying it could be like the survival of the fittest minimap marker, and I don't like minimaps personally.
04:22 I hope I can turn on or off because the less UI on the screen the better.
04:25 But I think many will find this a great addition and it will be very helpful in a lot of ways for navigating across the arc.
04:32 Especially if some new players start to join.
04:36 Overall it fits in well with the visual overhauls we seem to be getting for ARK Survival Ascended.
04:40 What do you guys think?
04:42 I think we're getting all of the quality of life additions that have popped up in ARK's long history.
04:48 Another big change for ARK Survival Ascended is base render distance.
04:52 According to the devs, plus 70% further render distance for bases popping in.
04:57 So for the longest time ARK has had an issue with not being able to handle itself.
05:01 And what I mean by this is when a server had huge bases on it,
05:03 you could easily fly into their turret range because bases would only render when a player got quite close to them.
05:09 But with leaps and bounds in technology that Unreal Engine 5 has brought, it means the bases will render 70% further out it seems.
05:16 So no longer should bases just pop in and out of view.
05:19 But they should be constantly there in your view before you fly into their turret range.
05:23 This will help with immersion too as it was very strange to have the bases just vanish if you went too far away from them.
05:29 Also for PvP, we used to use this change to see inside bases at times.
05:33 As you can see through the walls at certain distances.
05:36 So this change will be great, but I'm personally worried about performance issues.
05:40 But hopefully fingers crossed Unreal Engine 5 is streamlined enough to handle it.
05:44 What do you guys think? Does Unreal Engine 5 have enough changes in it that it can handle the amount of detail
05:50 that ARK is going to have in it? Especially considering we don't have cryopods.
05:54 So there's going to be a lot of tames rendering in with the bases as well.
05:59 It'll be very interesting to see how well the game can handle this as we still don't have the specs out for it yet.
06:05 Next up we have the building system revamp. With ARK Survival Ascended, we are getting a full building overhaul.
06:13 Firstly the new building pieces are a different size to previous base building parts as can be seen in the previews we got so far for Acer.
06:20 The new walls for instance are much higher and can easily accommodate the items like beds and fabricators in one level previously.
06:27 If you built one level higher walls in ARK, you could barely see what you were doing and you could barely fit any of these items in.
06:33 And even if you could they weren't interactable.
06:35 So we had to build two high for function,
06:37 but now we can just build one high and it should function. And the new textures and the base components look amazing.
06:42 We didn't even have stones here on day one ARK originally, but now we do.
06:46 The other thing that I think we'll get is a streamlined building system like S+, which makes building far more easier and convenient.
06:54 I'm hoping for a pinwheel style like Rust for crafting or even Atlas,
06:58 where you can change a wall piece to be a door or a window from one structure type.
07:02 Means you don't have ten different structure types in your inventory and makes the whole experience function more smoothly.
07:06 So it'll be interesting to see what people like Captain Fatdog come up with with this new building system.
07:11 We are also getting some new structures like display cases, small tech teleporters and building pieces.
07:17 So maybe a personal teleporter instead of a huge dino teleporter. What do you guys think of these building changes?
07:23 I'm personally really excited as I think it's gonna make the game look a lot better than it used to.
07:29 Next up we have stat changes, no speed.
07:32 So in ARK Survival Ascended, we are not going to be able to level up our speed.
07:39 So what this means is all players will be locked to the same speed on an even playing field.
07:44 I think the base speed of the character will be increased to compensate for this.
07:48 But I am super excited as for the longest time ARK has been very strange to watch for the casual observer.
07:54 With players zooming around at 200 plus movement speed,
07:57 it was a very derpy and strange game to watch if anyone wasn't aware of what was going on.
08:02 So I think slowing it down will make the game much more interesting and accessible for people to play and watch.
08:07 This combined with the new AI pathing will mean that you can no longer simply run away and ignore the wild times of ARK.
08:13 I think the creatures in the wild will finally feel like a risk because of this.
08:16 I also wonder if we might get some set limits on health and other stats,
08:20 which I am all for because I like an even playing field.
08:23 I don't think players having high level should give them a huge advantage over new players.
08:27 It should be more like Rust where players are equal,
08:29 but the gear is the difference and a low gear player can pipe shotgun a geared player and snowball.
08:34 I hope this helps bridge the gap. What do you guys think of this change? Let me know below as I know it's very divisive.
08:39 Next up we have Raniogin Natha available on day one.
08:43 This change is very controversial, but we are getting ARK's newest additional tame and probably one of the most OP tames in ARK,
08:50 the Raniogin Nathia on day one of ARK Survival Ascended,
08:54 which is touted to be a primitive drop and there are many issues with this as it changes the meta completely.
08:59 This tame can single-handedly decimate a base as it's a bullet sponge,
09:03 and it can pick up Rexes and other large tames and also helps with base building by moving items around.
09:09 The issue here is that ARK Survival Ascended will be primitive at first and this tame is too strong and unbalanced to fit with the primitive meta.
09:15 It'll easily dive bases and with no cryopods it will probably easily pick up enemy creatures to steal.
09:21 So hopefully considering we still have time to ace a release this might get changed as this tame will single-handedly ruin the balance of early game ARK in my opinion.
09:29 What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below.
09:31 And saying this, I really haven't played much ARK since the Raniogin Nathia was released,
09:36 so I haven't used it too much, but from what I hear it is very broken. Let me know in the comments below.
09:41 Next up we have new character model and dino touch-ups. So with ARK Survival Ascended being a remaster,
09:48 it's only logical that we get revamped and better looking assets.
09:51 So we have confirmation that the player model will be much better looking with the ability to add some dirt still confirmed by Dolly.
09:58 But this will be great as ARK for the longest time has always suffered from ugly player syndrome.
10:03 The characters have always looked horrendous, so now at least if we want a good-looking character
10:07 we can do so and those that want the dirt can still choose that as well.
10:11 We are also obviously getting touch-ups on the creatures and new updated textures as can be seen by the raptor,
10:16 which is the first in-game release screenshot so far, which looks amazing.
10:20 So it looks like AESA will at least look great if nothing else.
10:24 And finally we come to day one tech unlockable on ARK Survival Ascended. When ARK first released it didn't have tech.
10:33 Tech hadn't been added to the game at all. But obviously as ARK evolved through early access, eventually we got tech.
10:39 So now on day one of the island tech will be accessible and this means tech gen and turret.
10:44 So primitive ARK may not last long at all.
10:47 But keep in mind it is slightly harder to farm element on the island in later DLCs.
10:52 The devs may have even buffed the boss fights,
10:54 we don't know yet. But it remains to see that this might be a big departure from the primitive ARK of old.
11:00 I would honestly be happy if we had a week or two of delay on tech availability,
11:04 just to enjoy the primitive side of ARK again for what it is without the tech additions.
11:08 But it seems we are still getting it day one.
11:11 So the sweaty alphas will take over and primlock the smaller tribes as per usual. What do you guys think of this change?
11:17 Let me know down below.
11:19 So these are the top 10 differences we'll see from when ARK originally released with the island back in 2015.
11:25 Hopefully with all these changes we get all the money's worth for paying for ARK twice with the remaster ARK Survival Ascended.
