00:00 "Hello!"
00:00 [Laughter]
00:02 Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:04 And today we're counting down our picks for moments when Matthew Perry took any extra opportunity to make his castmates and us laugh.
00:11 [Screaming]
00:14 [Music]
00:15 Number 10. You gotta see this one.
00:17 For whatever reason, guys seem to have an obsession with the size of certain things.
00:22 Apparently, Matthew Perry was no exception.
00:25 On at least two separate occasions, Perry can be heard beckoning Monica to come see what he's just deposited in the bathroom.
00:31 "You guys gotta come see this one."
00:32 It's certainly not something that they would ever air as part of an episode of the show.
00:36 "Whew, you girls got a measuring tape?"
00:39 But for the actors and the live studio audience, it's certainly a fun opportunity to give a few extra laughs.
00:45 And no, Chandler, we don't need to see it. Thanks.
00:48 "Honey, you gotta see this. This is like the size of my arm."
00:51 [Laughter]
01:00 Number 9. Falling for Rachel.
01:02 Say what you want about the Joey and Rachel romance, but it did give us a great little blooper courtesy of our favorite sarcastic friend.
01:09 "I was- Oh!"
01:10 [Laughter]
01:14 "Good for you, that was good for me, Rachel."
01:16 [Laughter]
01:17 The scene involved Joey leaning on Rachel's door in the hallway after learning she has feelings for him.
01:22 Rachel opens the door, and Joey falls to the floor.
01:26 "Oh, get out!"
01:30 [Laughter]
01:36 Well known for inserting himself into scenes he was not a part of,
01:40 Perry stands at the door and falls as Rachel opens the door, causing everyone in the scene to break.
01:46 It's a cute little blooper that shows just how much of a prankster Perry could really be.
01:50 [Laughter]
01:55 Number 8. Have you looked in the mirror?
01:58 For a short period of time, Chandler and Monica had to work through a long distance relationship as Chandler had accepted a job in Tulsa.
02:05 So, when he came home on weekends, they naturally wanted to spend as much time as they could together.
02:10 Hoping for some private time alone, Chandler secretly flies home and lies to Joey about it.
02:16 "Because I didn't know how to tell him that I couldn't go to the Knicks game, so I just told him I had to stay in Tulsa."
02:20 "So you lied to him?"
02:22 "It's always better to lie than to have the complicated discussion."
02:25 This leads to an entire plot around Joey thinking Monica is cheating because of how she's dressed.
02:30 When she tells Chandler that Joey thinks she's a, let's say, promiscuous woman, Perry retorted,
02:36 "Have you looked in the mirror?"
02:37 His joke is met by both laughs and some somber "ohhs" from the audience.
02:42 [Laughter]
02:44 Number 7. Putting out fire.
02:47 In some ways, we think this episode should have been called "The One Where Monica Fires Joey."
02:51 Upset that her co-workers don't take her seriously,
02:54 Monica hires Joey for the purposes of firing him in front of everyone to show them who's boss.
02:59 "Why don't you fire me?"
03:00 [Laughter]
03:03 "That's a good idea. Do you know how to waiter?"
03:06 "Good enough to get fired."
03:07 [Laughter]
03:08 "Alright, you're hired."
03:10 The scheme ultimately works, but not before Perry once again inserted himself into a scene he was not in.
03:16 Monica's uniform is supposed to catch fire slightly, which Joey pats out with his hand on one side of her chest.
03:22 "Oh, oh!"
03:23 "What are you doing?"
03:24 "You're still a tiny bit on fire there."
03:26 "Oh, gotcha. Thanks."
03:28 "I think you got it."
03:30 Perry runs in from off camera and playfully pats out the other side of her uniform,
03:34 before ducking out back behind frame.
03:37 "You're still a tiny bit on fire there."
03:38 "Oh, geez. Okay, thanks. Okay."
03:41 [Laughter]
03:46 It's a funny bit that shows us how comfortable these actors were with each other.
03:50 Number six, at the camera.
03:52 The fourth wall is a term used in television and film that refers to an imaginary barrier
03:58 that exists between the scene unfolding in a play, movie, or episode and the audience watching.
04:03 "I can't believe Emma's still asleep."
04:05 "I know. What are we gonna do?"
04:06 The characters never look beyond this wall, because they're not supposed to know they're being watched by an audience.
04:11 In this clip, Courtney Cox accidentally looks directly at the camera and then realizes her mistake.
04:17 "She should be out in a couple days."
04:20 "I can't believe... I just looked right at you. I'm so sorry."
04:22 [Laughter]
04:24 "I just gave a little double take to the camera."
04:26 When they do the next take, Matthew Perry amplified her mistake purposefully,
04:30 which brings a pile of laughs and even another blooper featuring Matt LeBlanc doing something similar.
04:36 "I can't believe Emma's still asleep."
04:38 "I know. What are we going to do?"
04:40 [Laughter]
04:45 Number five, somber boys.
04:47 Directors often have a vision for a particular scene or episode
04:51 and offer notes to the actors in order to try and fulfill that vision.
04:55 During one scene in season three's "The One with the Morning After,"
04:58 Joey and Chandler barge into Monica's bedroom in a panic when they hear screaming.
05:02 [Screaming]
05:08 In the gag reel, immediately following that take,
05:11 we hear the director ask the two boys to dial it back a little.
05:14 "Go back. Go back."
05:16 "That was less."
05:18 So when they call action and the boys enter,
05:21 Perry and LeBlanc come in all somber and calm asking the girls what happened.
05:25 "What's the matter?"
05:29 We can't imagine what it was like directing these goofballs.
05:32 Number four, bingo bango.
05:34 Remember when Monica and Mike had their ping pong competition in Barbados?
05:38 Well, it turns out there were all kinds of bloopers during that scene.
05:41 Courtney Cox tripped up a few times,
05:43 including a moment where she yells out "Bah!" as she's supposed to hit a ball.
05:46 She realizes her mistake and they go to do another take.
05:49 "Bah!" "Oh, bah."
05:51 [Laughter]
05:54 This, of course, opens the door for Matthew Perry to step in for his own laughs.
05:58 As they call action and Monica swings,
06:00 Perry blurts out some kind of gibberish which, of course, ruins the take.
06:04 "Bingo bango."
06:06 It gets even better the next time when Cox accidentally throws her paddle.
06:10 [Crying]
06:18 Number three, huge.
06:20 The decision for Chandler and Monica to purchase a home to raise their kids outside the city
06:24 was one that came as a surprise to all of us.
06:27 "So, what'd you think of the house?"
06:30 "It's perfect. It's everything we've been looking for."
06:32 As the two discuss whether or not to buy the home,
06:34 they both recognize how big of a decision it is
06:37 and how it's going to affect their friends.
06:39 The conversation audiences saw had Monica saying,
06:42 "This is huge."
06:43 In an outtake for the scene, though,
06:45 she accidentally says, "It's huge,"
06:47 which was the perfect cue for Matthew Perry to allude to something else.
06:51 "I think we should."
06:52 "I do too."
06:53 "Oh my God, it's huge."
06:55 "Thanks."
06:56 It is yet another great example of Perry's unmatched improbability.
07:01 Number two, we know already.
07:03 After having been trapped in Monica's bedroom
07:05 while Ross and Rachel fight over whether they were on a break,
07:08 Monica, Phoebe, Joey, and Chandler are getting hungry.
07:11 "We could eat the wax. It's organic."
07:13 [Laughter]
07:14 "Oh, great. Food with hair on it."
07:16 In a cut scene from the episode,
07:18 Courtney Cox has a line where she tells everyone
07:20 she has chocolate bars in her purse in the kitchen.
07:23 She does this line several times,
07:25 but keeps getting asked to do it again.
07:27 "Once again, once again."
07:28 "Tell me what the note is, 'cause I--
07:29 "No, no, no, no."
07:30 "Okay, good, 'cause I'd keep doing it the same way."
07:31 When she says the line one last time,
07:33 Perry chimed in with one of his signature sarcastic quips.
07:36 "I've got two Clark bars."
07:37 "We know already."
07:38 [Laughter]
07:39 Since the final edit of the episode excluded this scene,
07:42 we're guessing they never did get it right.

07:59 Joey finally gets his big break
08:05 and is featured in an issue of Soap Opera Digest.
08:08 Ever so excited to show someone,
08:10 he bursts into Central Perk and shows it off to Phoebe.
08:13 "Phoebes, check it out, check it out, check it out, check it out."
08:16 "Oh, oh, Soap Opera Digest.
08:18 Oh, that's one of my favorite digests."
08:20 [Laughter]
08:21 "Page 42, page 42, page 42."
08:23 "Okay, okay."
08:24 But Matt LeBlanc struggled to get the scene right several times.
08:27 On one occasion, he straight-up face plants.
08:30 On another, he looks at his mark on the floor.
08:33 By the time he finally gets to his chair, it falls over.
08:36 "Check it out, check it out, check it out, check it out."
08:38 [Laughter]
08:40 "Jesus."
08:41 [Laughter]
08:44 "Like a problem."
08:46 As highlighted in the Friends The Reunion special,
08:49 Matthew Perry wasn't even in the scene,
08:51 but mocked his co-star's failures by crashing the scene
08:54 that might have finally been LeBlanc's good take.
08:56 "And the final time you came in."
08:58 "Because I was like, 'Somebody's getting a laugh, I can't handle it.
09:01 I need to get a laugh too.'"
09:04 It is pure comedy gold,
09:06 which we are so thankful to be able to see behind the scenes.
09:09 "Soap opera digest!"
09:11 [Laughter]
