00:05 We have been very focused on ensuring inclusivity
00:09 and making sure that everybody is involved
00:12 in the discussions.
00:13 And this is underpinning everything
00:15 that we are doing and is a key pillar of our presidency.
00:19 Our president has been a champion of renewable energy
00:23 and climate change in the UAE for many decades.
00:27 Those who look at Dr. Santana Diabo's CV
00:30 know that he was the founder of Monstar 20 years ago.
00:35 We went on that journey.
00:36 For us as a COP presidency, that has been our north star.
00:39 That's what we as a team have focused on,
00:42 is how do we deliver a game-changing COP that
00:44 keeps us on track for that 1.5 degrees.
00:48 We know today that we need to decarbonize the energy
00:51 system in Calgary, because COP28, let's not forget,
00:54 is about the next seven years.
00:55 It's about to be now in 2030.
00:58 And that means that one of the real actions
01:00 that we can take in the short term
01:02 to get us back on track to keep the global temperature
01:04 under 1.5 degrees.
01:05 And then we need to speed up and scale up
01:08 the new energy system of the future
01:10 that we want to develop.
01:12 And that's where the tripling of renewables,
01:15 the doubling of hydrogen, and whether that efficiency
01:17 and all the other challenges that Dr. Santana has laid out
01:21 are really a big part of it.
01:23 As long as we can start to change the reality
01:26 of our discussion to what are we giving people,
01:29 rather than what we're taking away.
