00:02 - What's up everybody, welcome to FoundFlicks.
00:06 On this ending explained, we'll be looking at a movie
00:08 a lot of you guys have been asking for.
00:10 Oculus, involving a brother and sister
00:12 whose lives have been permanently affected
00:14 by the seemingly haunted mirror known as the Lasser glass.
00:18 As far as what is causing the mirror to be evil,
00:21 we never find out specifically.
00:23 You know, is the glass from Satan's patio furniture
00:26 or whatever?
00:26 Its origin and history is intentionally unknown by design.
00:30 Though we do learn a lot about its characteristics
00:33 and how it infiltrates its victims' minds.
00:36 It focuses on harvesting negative energy.
00:38 The many little ornate designs that make up the frame
00:41 are representations of the souls it has consumed.
00:44 All of these victims which are trapped
00:46 within the mirror as spirits.
00:48 It can also manipulate reality in a major way,
00:51 which it uses to great effect in the story,
00:54 showing us both parallel flashbacks of the siblings
00:56 Kaylee and Tim's encounter with the glass as children,
00:59 interwoven with them reunited in the present
01:02 10 years later.
01:03 The complete story of their past unraveled
01:05 over the course of the film.
01:06 So let's dig into Oculus,
01:07 breaking down the reality bending story,
01:10 looking further in depth at the Lasser glass
01:12 and explaining what happens in the quite upsetting ending.
01:15 It is the climax of their childhood experiences
01:18 that opened the film.
01:18 Seeing Kaylee peeking out from a door,
01:20 watching as her father carrying a gun passes by.
01:23 Finding the front door locked,
01:24 they spot a reflective eyed spirit
01:26 standing near the mirror.
01:28 As her father returns, putting the gun to her head,
01:30 we hear a shot flashing forward to Tim now,
01:33 with the opening being a reoccurring nightmare
01:36 he's been suffering from.
01:37 And after the childhood incident,
01:38 he was sent to a mental health facility
01:40 where over the years, he's had his brain reprogrammed
01:43 regarding the specifics of what unfolded as kids.
01:46 Essentially that there was no paranormal side whatsoever.
01:49 Now on the verge of his 21st birthday,
01:52 Tim is finally about to be released from the hospital.
01:54 His treatment complete.
01:56 Hoping to finally move on from his childhood trauma.
01:58 Though he's going to find moving on extremely difficult.
02:01 As on the complete opposite end of the spectrum,
02:04 his sister Kaylee has been obsessively attempting
02:06 to track down the mirror for years.
02:08 To her, there is no question about the validity
02:11 of the mirror being supernatural.
02:13 And thanks to the glass popping up
02:14 at an auction house she works at,
02:16 she manages to get her hands on the mirror
02:18 in order to destroy whatever is contained
02:20 in it once and for all.
02:21 Of course to Tim, this is majorly concerning.
02:24 To him, his sister is misguided in her beliefs.
02:27 Which he thinks is due to her having no support system.
02:29 Having to deal with everything on her own all these years.
02:32 Regardless, Kaylee is unwavering in her plan.
02:34 Begging her brother to never forget what really happened.
02:37 Saying she's doing it tomorrow night
02:39 and asking for his help.
02:40 Stepping back to 11 years earlier,
02:42 we see how the Lasser glass first entered the Russell family.
02:45 Purchased by their father, Alan,
02:47 when they move into a new home.
02:48 Unaware of the evil he has willingly brought
02:51 into the family's lives.
02:52 Soon after, the mirror's effects already begin.
02:54 Alan going to raid the fridge and getting a juice box.
02:57 Seeing a brief flash of a girl with glassy eyes.
03:00 Marisol, who we see more than any of the other spirits.
03:03 Due to the fact that she was the glass's most recent victim.
03:06 Right before it came into the Russell family's possession.
03:09 In the present, Kaylee follows through
03:11 with her devious plan to take the mirror.
03:13 And in the reflection, it appears that one
03:15 of the covered statues behind her moves on its own.
03:17 But when she checks it out, they are all statues.
03:20 Which shouldn't, you know, normally be able to move.
03:22 That's because one of the main abilities
03:24 of the mirror is to bend reality.
03:25 And as it harvests more energy,
03:27 its effects grow more powerful.
03:29 These manifestations spreading outside
03:32 of the mirror as well.
03:33 One method it gains this energy is from plants.
03:36 Sucking the life out of them.
03:37 Seen in the past happening to their mom,
03:39 Marie's prized ferns.
03:40 While Alan, who has spent the most time with the glass,
03:43 is starting to become essentially possessed by it
03:46 the longer he is in its presence.
03:47 Hearing overlapping, whispering voices emanating
03:50 from the mirror.
03:51 Later, he's spotted by Kaylee in his office
03:53 with a mysterious woman.
03:54 Marisol again.
03:55 So technically not a real woman.
03:57 But this supposed affair is what will end up
03:59 tearing the family and Marie's sanity apart.
04:02 Unable to ever find out what's truly going on
04:05 with her husband.
04:05 After more urging from his sister,
04:07 Tim does decide to join Kaylee meeting at their old house.
04:10 And what an ideal place to bring the mirror.
04:12 So they can relive all the tragic memories
04:14 they have in the house.
04:15 Great idea.
04:16 Fresh out of the hospital where you spent a decade
04:18 trying to get over this shit.
04:20 How about we bring all that stuff to the surface immediately?
04:23 Sound good, bro?
04:24 Kaylee at least seems to be very well organized.
04:26 And put an absurd amount of thought and research
04:28 into her plan.
04:29 Taking into account every aspect of the mirror's abilities.
04:32 Setting up several cameras to document everything.
04:35 Control over electronic devices, including her cell phone.
04:38 Multiple alarms.
04:39 Scheduled tied to eating, drinking water,
04:41 and changing the tapes.
04:43 And finally some weights on the ceiling
04:44 attached to a sharp pointed object aimed at the mirror.
04:47 Which she refers to as the kill switch.
04:50 This also has a timer attached.
04:51 Which if not reset every 30 minutes,
04:53 will cause the device to release.
04:55 And smash the mirror.
04:56 Kaylee then going into the history of the many hands
04:59 the mirror has passed through over hundreds of years.
05:01 It's trail of death starting in 1754,
05:04 where a man Lasser, who the mirror became named after,
05:07 hung the mirror over his fireplace.
05:09 Only to mysteriously die soon after.
05:11 Then moving on to other victims.
05:13 Including a fat ass railroad tycoon,
05:15 who somehow lost hundreds of pounds in a short period
05:17 before falling to his death.
05:19 Or a woman who died in a bathtub of dehydration
05:22 after three days.
05:23 Which is of course odd,
05:24 considering she was surrounded by water.
05:26 Even if these deaths are a bit out of the ordinary,
05:29 the mirror's victims are always found
05:31 without any evidence to suggest anything supernatural.
05:34 But their fates are the mirror's doing.
05:36 It's just one smart mirror.
05:38 This explains why she set up the specific timers
05:41 related to rehydrating and eating.
05:43 As the mirror bends reality further,
05:45 time itself becomes incomprehensible
05:47 to those in the radius of its effect.
05:49 So the timers will hopefully keep them on track
05:51 to not lose a bunch of weight
05:53 or die of dehydration like those before.
05:55 But already the mirror is up to its tricks.
05:58 Their childhood family dog passing by inexplicably.
06:00 Clearly the glass remembers the kids
06:02 and the huge trauma they suffered here at the house.
06:05 Which it sees as an opportunity to exploit.
06:07 Kaylee then goes on to discuss
06:09 their own family's experience with the mirror.
06:11 That within two weeks of its arrival
06:13 that Marie went insane and was murdered by her husband.
06:16 Who was then killed by his own son
06:18 in front of their daughter.
06:19 Revealing the end result of the past and opening sequence.
06:22 Which is pretty brutal.
06:23 Though Tim still doesn't believe
06:25 that the mirror is responsible.
06:26 Considering that she made up this scary story
06:28 to deal with the fact that their father
06:30 was a murderer and a cheater.
06:31 He then asks, why don't we just end it
06:33 by smashing the mirror?
06:34 But Kaylee scolds him, upset.
06:36 Saying he obviously doesn't remember.
06:38 Because whatever evil inhabits this mirror is once,
06:41 Mark Cookie.
06:42 And can protect itself from destruction
06:44 by bending reality once again to defend itself.
06:47 And when Tim tries himself, going for it with a stool.
06:50 He puts down the stool.
06:51 Talking further with Kaylee.
06:52 The mirror has distracted him from his original intent.
06:55 Possibly the mirror's most prevalent ability
06:57 is what happens when you stare into the mirror.
07:00 By doing this it can control someone's actions
07:02 or influence them.
07:04 As mentioned previously with Alan.
07:05 And as the mirror's power grows,
07:07 absorbing more negative energy.
07:09 So does its influence over him.
07:11 Typing away on his computer,
07:12 he goes to his bandage finger.
07:14 Bloodied from biting his nail.
07:15 Removing the bandaid.
07:16 But suddenly it appears that the bandaid was not taken off.
07:20 So Alan desperately goes for a staple remover.
07:22 Digging into what looks like the bandage,
07:24 but it is in reality his nail.
07:27 Yoo, that mirror is messed up.
07:29 We see that to Alan, reality has changed
07:31 to a greater degree than before.
07:33 And even after this, several looped whispering voices
07:36 call out repeatedly to Alan that it doesn't hurt.
07:38 As we see through the mirror's influence,
07:40 Alan is not really in control of reality
07:42 or honestly his own actions at this point.
07:45 And from here he continues his descent into darkness.
07:47 Purchasing a gun to Marie's annoyance.
07:50 Even though he assures her it's for the family's safety.
07:52 As she walks away, he calls out that she's a grotesque cow.
07:56 Though when asking him to repeat what he said,
07:58 Alan responds he said nothing.
07:59 Now the mirror is sinking its hooks into Marie.
08:02 And more than likely it wasn't Alan
08:04 that made the grotesque cow remark.
08:05 But the voices in the glass.
08:07 Preying on Marie's insecurities
08:09 about her husband having an affair.
08:10 It's a ghost woman,
08:11 so I don't think that technically counts.
08:13 Hard to say.
08:14 But Marie has no reason to suspect anything supernatural.
08:17 And the movie doesn't ever make clear
08:19 if he was having an affair or not
08:21 outside of this one ghostly glimpse.
08:23 So it's certainly a possibility that he was.
08:26 As his behavior was already suspicious
08:28 before the evil mirror started bossing him around.
08:30 And he only becomes more suspect after.
08:33 Marie hearing a woman's voice with him in the office
08:35 or randomly heading off to a super important
08:38 golf meeting with a client.
08:39 Golf!
08:40 Sure, you're playing golf.
08:42 Yeah, I bet.
08:43 Hole in one, buddy.
08:44 Even if no one else has figured out what's up yet,
08:46 the family dog Mason knows that something
08:49 in Alan's office is no good.
08:50 Going increasingly berserk.
08:52 Marie begrudgingly lets him in.
08:53 And when the doors closed,
08:55 somehow they became locked.
08:56 Unfortunately for Mason,
08:58 another way the glass takes energy
08:59 is apparently from adorable little animals.
09:02 As after this, the dog is never seen again.
09:04 But in the present, to Tim,
09:06 this couldn't have been what happened.
09:07 Because what's more likely?
09:08 She's not remembering correctly
09:10 or a mirror ate their dog.
09:12 I do like that Tim acts as a dissenting view to everything.
09:15 And the idea of things being unprovable
09:17 is one of the mirror's most important elements.
09:19 But the first strange signs occur in the house soon after.
09:22 Discovering their two cameras strangely
09:24 pointed lens to lens.
09:26 Along with the plant set around the area
09:28 now decayed and dead.
09:29 When reviewing the tapes,
09:30 they see the two of them having the same argument
09:32 as moments ago.
09:33 But this time, the two grab the cameras
09:35 and place them into the position seen.
09:37 Tim quickly loses it after seeing this.
09:40 Because how can his psych mumbo jumbo explain this one?
09:43 Wanting to call his doctor.
09:44 But Kaylee warns that the mirror
09:45 has an approximate 30 foot radius of effect.
09:48 So even when it looks like Tim goes outside
09:50 to call his doctor,
09:51 he suddenly finds himself back inside.
09:53 And according to Kaylee,
09:54 he never actually went outside.
09:56 Saying she watched him walk over to the corner and sit down.
09:59 Already their handle on reality is compromised.
10:02 Because they can't trust anything they witness.
10:04 And several of Kaylee's well laid protocols
10:06 are already undone.
10:08 In 2002, the supposed affair has now
10:10 completely taken over Marie's thoughts.
10:12 Seeing her chugging red wine
10:14 while the kids dine on burnt grilled cheese.
10:16 Marie decides to investigate
10:17 the off limits office for herself.
10:19 Looking at documents sitting on Alan's desk.
10:21 Seeing a page with the name Marisol written.
10:23 Flipping to another with her name scrawled everywhere.
10:27 Oh, well that's concerning.
10:28 Thinking this is irrefutable proof
10:30 of her husband's infidelity.
10:31 Marie yells, knocking everything off the desk.
10:34 Stopping and getting emotional
10:35 when picking up a picture of the family.
10:37 The glass of the frame shattered.
10:38 How's that for being symbolic?
10:40 The lacer glass is shattering the family.
10:42 Symbols!
10:43 Angrily, she throws the picture at the mirror,
10:45 but it misses.
10:46 The mirror bending what happens to
10:48 again protect itself from damage.
10:50 And it responds to the attack.
10:51 A force pulling Marie towards it.
10:53 Seeing a much more calm and creepy version of herself
10:56 in the reflection on the other side.
10:58 The whispering voices increase in volume and intensity
11:01 as the mirror Marie undoes her shirt.
11:03 Revealing her stomach scar from giving birth opened up.
11:06 Gross!
11:07 The kids find her still staring into the mirror.
11:09 But Marie has already been changed.
11:11 Turning and strangling her son.
11:13 They manage to escape locking themselves in a room
11:15 with mom unhinged.
11:17 Violently slamming her hands on the door outside.
11:19 Fortunately, kind of I guess,
11:21 Alan comes home distracting her from the kids.
11:24 And he is forced to put her in a sleeper hold
11:26 to render her unconscious.
11:27 So she's completely lost it.
11:28 If that wasn't abundantly clear.
11:30 However, Alan hasn't been exactly acting
11:32 like himself lately either.
11:33 To be fair, some part of him still cares for a moment.
11:36 As he at least tries to call a doctor to get her help.
11:38 But the voices whisper out to him that everything is fine.
11:41 Which he accepts, hanging up the phone.
11:43 When Alan discusses things with the kids,
11:45 he only offers to them that their mother is sick
11:48 and doesn't want to be bothered.
11:49 And that phone call must have been the final gasp
11:51 of Alan's humanity.
11:52 As he tells them that they can hang out
11:54 in his always previously forbidden office
11:56 and play video games.
11:57 The kids confused by his change of heart.
11:59 Well before he was trying to keep the mirror
12:01 and what it was doing to him a secret.
12:03 But now he is trying to get his kids to be around the mirror.
12:06 So they can potentially suffer the same fate as himself.
12:09 The timeline start becoming even more fluid
12:11 and now bleeding into each other.
12:14 With things in the present triggering specific memories.
12:17 Tim changes out a light bulb.
12:18 Triggering Kaylee to remember finding him
12:20 staring into the mirror.
12:21 Then in the present seeing her dad
12:23 ascending the stairs with a plate of food.
12:25 The younger Kaylee asking if it's for mom.
12:27 The bulb burns out again and Tim has vanished.
12:29 Kaylee munching on an apple goes to fix it herself.
12:32 Only for it to quickly burn out again.
12:34 One more try and it seems to work this time.
12:36 Going back for her apple.
12:37 Oh, watch out for that light bulb right there.
12:40 Hate for you to accidentally take a bite of, oh.
12:43 And it's a nice mouthful of broken light bulb
12:45 she gets instead of the apple.
12:47 Psych!
12:48 Blood in her mouth along with a huge shard
12:50 of glass jammed inside.
12:51 Tim reappears and it turns out it wasn't the bulb
12:54 but the apple she took a bite of.
12:56 Ooh, double psych!
12:57 The kids are growing hungry as there is no food in the house
13:00 since those under the Lassers influence
13:02 stop eating and drinking.
13:03 And with still no signs of their mom,
13:05 they decide to bravely go and enter their parents' bedroom.
13:08 And their mother is found.
13:09 Chained to the wall like a dog with a mutilated mouth
13:12 and looking pretty deranged.
13:14 Of course, when confronting their dad about this,
13:16 he's just annoyed they didn't obey him and grounds them.
13:19 They then try to call multiple doctors themselves
13:21 to get Marie help, but the mirror is controlling the phone.
13:23 So it looks like it's gonna be up to the kids
13:26 to deal with this thing all on their own.
13:27 In the present, time and reality continue to get screwier.
13:30 Kaylee coming too as the kill switch timer
13:32 was about to go off.
13:34 She makes it in time, resetting it.
13:36 But if she hadn't moved before it went off,
13:38 the device would most certainly have killed her.
13:40 Meanwhile, upstairs, Tim enters his old bedroom.
13:42 His younger self seeing him
13:44 before the older one disappears.
13:45 Which is also funny because this actor
13:47 also played young Josh in Insidious 2.
13:50 Making this two movies where he interacts
13:52 with his older self.
13:53 Little weird trivia for ya.
13:54 The house having lost electricity as Kaylee predicted,
13:57 she goes through the rooms, activating floor lamps,
13:59 kicking over one of the dead plants shattering the pot.
14:02 And when turning one of the lamps on,
14:04 finds she is at the wall where her mother
14:06 had been held prisoner.
14:07 Later downstairs, finding what looked like
14:08 the broken plate pieces on the floor.
14:10 But when she films the area, according to the camera,
14:13 none of it is actually there.
14:15 Another trick of the blasted mirror.
14:17 She turns around, surprised to see a ghostly version
14:19 of her mom standing there, reactively stabbing her
14:22 in the neck with a piece of the plate.
14:23 But it wasn't her mom she stabbed.
14:26 It was actually her fiance, Michael.
14:28 Ooh, that's unfortunate.
14:30 Or perhaps it's just yet another double psych.
14:32 And to prove how little control she really has here,
14:35 at that moment Kaylee gets a call from Michael.
14:37 Just checking in.
14:38 And plus, she couldn't have stabbed him
14:40 with the ghost plate because it wasn't actually there, right?
14:43 But there was the very real potted plant she broke.
14:46 And it was a shard of this that she actually had
14:48 in her hand and used on Michael.
14:50 So yeah, she killed him for real.
14:52 The impact of what she's done painfully dawning on her.
14:55 Tim drags her outside and makes a call to 911.
14:58 His plan to simply wait outside
15:00 until that 30 minute kill switch timer goes off
15:02 and destroys the mirror.
15:04 But it won't be that easy.
15:05 The electricity in the house blazes back to life.
15:08 Seeing inside, Tim opened the curtain
15:10 and joined his sister standing right in front of the mirror.
15:13 Dang, curse that crafty mirror.
15:14 Now what are they gonna do?
15:15 Because if they are actually inside as it appears,
15:18 they'll be killed when the timer goes off.
15:20 Back in the past, things reach ahead.
15:22 As Alan chills in front of the mirror for a while
15:24 before grabbing the gun from his desk.
15:26 Tim getting a peek as he loads it.
15:28 After reporting this to his sister,
15:29 she decides it's time to try and smash the mirror.
15:32 And Marisol appears telling them in their father's voice
15:35 she told them not to play in here.
15:36 Sending the kids off in a hurry.
15:38 Upstairs, dad enters the bedroom.
15:39 Marie crawling right up to his face.
15:41 Putting the gun to her chin, he instead lets her loose.
15:44 Present Kaylee is scared, asking to wait until he's gone.
15:48 Opening the door to see Marie standing there.
15:50 The kids count to three and run towards downstairs.
15:53 Kaylee slowing her mom down
15:54 with the swing of the golf club to her face.
15:56 Then making it out of the upstairs window,
15:58 leaping to safety.
15:59 But there's no sign of Tim.
16:00 Seeing two of the glasses victims
16:02 standing in the mirror watching out.
16:04 Inside, older Tim has an encounter with his father.
16:06 Asking if he's going to arrest him before firing.
16:09 The shot sending both Kaylees back inside.
16:11 Then finding the younger Tim mouthing for her to hide.
16:14 Flipping back to the past.
16:15 And Marie springs forth, choking her.
16:17 Not letting go as Kaylee gets weaker.
16:19 But she pauses, suddenly realizing what she's doing.
16:22 Uttering her daughter's name sadly.
16:24 But this breakthrough moment is truncated
16:26 when a shot rings out from Alan.
16:28 Blasting her in the chest.
16:29 The kids run off, seeing several other victims
16:31 hearing their collective whisperings
16:33 controlling their father.
16:34 Both Kaylees find themselves reliving this harrowing moment.
16:37 While hiding from the beginning of the film
16:39 before returning to her younger self.
16:41 They try to again smash the mirror.
16:43 But their swings land right outside of the mirror
16:45 despite what it initially looks like.
16:47 The mirror protecting itself as usual.
16:49 Alan struts in, pointing the gun at Kaylee.
16:51 Creepily saying, "This is me.
16:53 "I've seen the devil and he is me."
16:54 Looking in the mirror, seeing him with reflective eyes.
16:57 His voice joined with a chorus
16:59 of the other voices from within.
17:00 Tim knocks the gun away, getting a hold of it
17:02 as Alan attacks Kaylee.
17:04 Tim demanding he let her go.
17:05 Surprisingly, he relents.
17:07 Getting down on his knees,
17:08 putting his finger alongside his son's on the trigger.
17:10 Telling them to run and pulling it.
17:12 The shot's impact blowing him back.
17:14 Causing a small break in the corner of the glass.
17:17 Other mirror victims led by Marisol
17:19 all shuffle into the room, opening their mouths.
17:22 The sounds of a timer going off coming from within.
17:24 Tim finds himself alone, sitting in front of the mirror.
17:27 The timer's still buzzing.
17:29 Calling out to his sister, who is back in the office
17:31 seeing in the reflection of the mirror
17:33 her mom appearing normal.
17:34 Reaching out from the other side and hugging her.
17:36 Tim hits the kill switch, sending the weighted spike down.
17:39 Hearing a wet thudding on impact.
17:42 On the screen, seeing nothing at first.
17:44 But it in fact stabbed through Kaylee
17:46 who was there, seen hugging her mom.
17:48 Even if it was the younger version of her.
17:50 They were able to survive the mirror as children
17:52 because children don't have as much trauma
17:54 or insecurity as their parents.
17:56 But now as an adult, she has been consumed by loss.
17:59 Her entire purpose for coming here in the first place.
18:02 Which is also why now the mirror is able
18:05 to lure Kaylee to the mirror.
18:06 In the end, it was this childhood trauma that destroyed her.
18:09 Then remembering as kids, Kaylee tells Tim
18:11 they have to make this right when they're older.
18:13 That they have to kill the thing for mom and dad.
18:15 Younger Tim promising to do so.
18:17 As Kaylee dies, her movement ceasing.
18:19 Then seeing the simultaneous aftermath in 2002
18:23 and in the present at once.
18:24 The kids talking to the cops while a body is rolled out.
18:27 Older Tim watching it pass by in handcuffs.
18:30 Overhearing two officers discussing the case.
18:32 Then he called it in and then did this.
18:35 Seeing footage of Kaylee being killed by the anchor.
18:37 Interestingly, with all this weird time
18:39 and reality bending going on,
18:41 one of the events seen did occur.
18:43 That one moment where he called 911 outside did happen.
18:47 Which is what brought the authorities here now.
18:49 Younger Tim is dragged out.
18:51 Kaylee shouting to her brother as he is taken away
18:53 to never forget his promise.
18:55 Inside seeing Marie and Alan,
18:57 along with Kaylee all with reflective eyes.
18:59 As both Tims are driven away.
19:01 Respectively incarcerated and sent to the hospital.
19:04 Tragically concluding both timelines.
19:06 Well, bummer, that is not a happy ending.
19:08 First of all, Tim did forget his promise to Kaylee.
19:11 To never forget what really happened.
19:12 Having this systematically removed
19:14 from his head at the hospital.
19:15 Though the reality of what they experienced
19:17 was obviously a lot for Tim to handle.
19:19 Especially having a hand in killing his father.
19:21 The end result being that he grew to believe
19:23 that none of it actually happened the way it did.
19:25 Only realizing now his mistake.
19:28 But the damage has already been done.
19:30 His sister is dead and he's blamed for the murder.
19:33 An almost exact replica of what happened a decade ago.
19:36 Just as in 2002 and with the mirror's other various victims.
19:39 There is no actual evidence left behind
19:41 of any supernatural involvement in these cases.
19:44 To the police, it's an open and shut case.
19:46 That the already troubled Tim
19:48 was responsible for another death.
19:50 Thusly the mirror basically wins in the end.
19:52 Which they really didn't seem to stand a chance against.
19:55 Even with Kaylee's multitude of plans and research.
19:58 Especially once reality started bending out of their control.
20:01 They were pretty much screwed.
20:02 Allowing the evil to continue onwards to another place
20:05 and feasting on the energy of new victims.
20:07 Honestly, there isn't much Tim could have done differently.
20:10 Other than of course, resetting the timer.
20:12 But he had no idea that his sister was there.
20:14 Since he couldn't actually see her.
20:16 And the monitors even appeared blank.
20:18 And I have to say that Kaylee is as much at fault
20:21 for her fate as well.
20:22 They were lucky as kids to even survive.
20:24 And should have never sought out the mirror again.
20:27 But the idea of justice for her parents deaths.
20:29 And the inability to move on from this
20:32 is what drives Kaylee back to the mirror.
20:34 It's clear that it's because of this
20:35 she couldn't simply leave the past behind.
20:37 It had no choice but to try and defeat the evil.
20:40 Too bad the mirror is so dadgum tricky
20:42 that it outsmarted them in the end.
20:44 Okay guys, that'll do it for a reality bending adventure
20:47 with the Laser Glass and Oculus.
20:49 I gotta say I quite like this movie.
20:50 And it feels quite creative.
20:52 Playing with it's premise in a lot of interesting ways.
20:55 Giving the audience some pretty major surprises
20:57 and shocking moments as well.
20:58 What did you guys think of Oculus and it's ending?
21:01 What do you think will happen with the mirror next?
