00:00 This is the first six bout or six round bout of the evening. First of four
00:08 remaining on our professional card here at Mayhem and Myrtle. Seven, Zach Randolph
00:13 of West Virginia versus Talik Taylor of North Carolina. Again a lot of energy
00:23 coming from the blue corner. Big looping right hand to start. Oh he connected with
00:28 a short right. That was a pretty impressive start. If Randolph wants to
00:34 make this a fight he has to take this initial barrage. I mean I don't
00:41 know if Taylor can keep up this pace. If he does then Randolph may be in for a
00:47 tough tough night. Nice step aside roll around footwork by Randolph. Works him in
00:57 the corner. Don't know what Taylor is looking at the ref for. Work out of that
01:03 clench.
01:05 Taylor showing some clever head work to slip in that hard right. Pretty advanced
01:22 move for somebody. I mean he does have 30 professional fights so may have to learn
01:27 something along the way. Can he sustain it? That's a better question.
01:31 Randolph is already slowing a bit under his right eye or left eye rather. Trying
01:38 to get that jab working to set up the big power shots. Got caught with the step
01:43 aside again with this looping technique of Talik Taylor. Usually that looping
01:50 technique is telegraphed so you see it but it looks like Randolph has a game
01:56 plan to work his angles and just kind of walked into that one. Jab hook slides
02:05 into the scoring of the chin I believe. Another jab, sharp jab. Nice one-two
02:15 straight right lands flush on the chin of Taylor. He comes back angry. Might have
02:19 pissed him off.
02:22 Trying to set it up, find those holes for the opening. A little possum being
02:35 played by both fighters. First round. Again first of six. Light heavyweight
02:41 division. Nice footwork. Caught Talik with a hook on the chin. Lost his
02:51 legs. Don't know if it was a slip but he definitely lost his leg. Zach coming
02:56 forward. Taylor leads with a big left push him into the ropes. Randolph into
03:02 the ropes. We'll see. Nice bodywork. After what he did, after 12 professional
03:15 fights you'd like to see Randolph focus on that body a little bit more than he
03:18 has.
03:20 Looks like that mat may be taking a little bit of a beating. You see nice
03:30 round. Both fighters came out. Lee Taylor came out hard and fast. Randolph
03:40 stabilized the ship near the end of that round.
03:44 It's pretty obvious that the judging and the scoring probably should favor the
03:52 red corner in the initial in these one-on-one fights just because of what
03:55 he's earned in his career so far. Not really a great concept. We'll see here on
04:01 the replay some of the good things that both fighters did so far in the first
04:07 round. Again Taylor with that big long looping swing. Landed a couple times not
04:14 quite here with the mat double triple triple jab lands that one too. Really
04:21 hurt him, stunned him but came back with a big bomb so we'll see. Very early came
04:33 out very busy. Continued that pace as did Taylor. Big looping shots missing. Landing
04:45 missing landing. No real precision. Big right hook lands on the chin of Randolph.
04:53 Another little combo body work. Very nice by Tilly Taylor. Lands that liver shot.
05:00 Seemed to be taken pretty strong by Randolph for now.
05:10 Both fighters lunging into the into the pocket. Not sure if that's a
05:17 sustainable maneuver. Might have been a little low but did land on the belly.
05:23 One-two, one-two lands for Randolph. A lot of action here early. Both fighters putting
05:38 in the work. Trying to score as much as possible as quick as possible. Usually
05:44 the first to score controls the flurry. Neither puncher an effective
05:51 counter puncher. They need to initiate to really score. There we go again initiating
05:59 is Randolph. Lands a few solid punches coming back. Gave him the gave him room
06:04 to come back. Pushing Tilly Taylor back. He is seems hurt. Nice move going low as
06:15 he is tired and he is hurt but he's delivering power right back. We'll see
06:20 see how long this can last. I think he's tired. Both fighters digging deep early
06:27 in a six round bout. Don't usually see the exhaustion setting this early at
06:32 this level but it is hot in here. These guys are punching with intention on
06:40 every on every blow. Body shot drops Tilly Taylor in the corner. Takes a knee.
06:47 Don't know if it was as painful as it was exhausting but referee checks him. He
06:56 is going to continue. Can Randolph finish with 30 seconds in the second round? Can
07:01 he finish or will Tilly Taylor get his legs back and he's delivering with power?
07:07 Randolph just does not seem to close. Oh that was a big shot landed by Taylor.
07:13 Wobbled him. Belly. Shots to the belly. Veteran work here by Taylor. Not head
07:21 hunting. Folding him at the belly. Both fighters digging into the second round
07:27 of flurry. Came back strong after the knockdown. Taylor not enough to switch
07:36 the outcome of a 10-8 round but valiant effort as we go into round three of
07:41 six. Both fighters seem very tired this early in the fight. Neither of them have
07:51 the same level of energy as these ring girls that is for sure. Don't know if
07:58 that's synthetic, artificial or otherwise.
08:04 We will see here in round two that Randolph really asserted himself. Gotcha.
08:18 So we have Tilly Taylor really after being knocked down delivers a big shot
08:24 that clearly wobbles Randolph. Randolph if he had too much time or that much
08:30 more time in the round he might not have gotten out of it but it was a veteran
08:32 move on Tilly Taylor's part to go to the body after the wobble and really fold
08:37 him because this is going to pay dividends in round three for sure. We are
08:44 approaching the halfway mark. This is a pretty... all those scorecards may not show
08:54 or reflect that this is a 50/50 fight because of the knockdown. Taylor being a
09:00 very game battler for a 5 and 24 journeyman he is delivering big shots to
09:08 another veteran and he is hurting Randolph with these big looping shots.
09:13 Now these big looping shots should be predicted or they should be tracked
09:19 is a better word but they are landing and seemingly affecting Randolph with
09:28 each advance. Both fighters are committing to these big power shots. Big
09:37 body shot delivered by Taylor. Countered body shot by Randolph. Exchanging blows
09:45 against the ropes is Tilly Taylor. Fighters are going head body, head body
09:50 really trying to cut the other person off. I got sprayed. Being ringside is a
09:56 treat but man that was gross. I think it hit me in the eyeball.
10:03 That looping shot it did exactly what it normally does it left him open for a
10:09 really effective counter by Randolph. It seemed to hurt Tilly. Wow through the
10:17 ropes a huge left hook lands. Scratch that right hook has absolutely knocked
10:26 Taylor against his senses. My goodness that was a bomb that was landed. Wow that
10:35 wobbled him that rattled him and that hurt him 100%. You let him. Let's see this
10:41 in slow motion because it was a absolute monster. He had Taylor hurt again left
10:51 his hand open hit him with the shot and then the left the right hand landed
10:56 first left hand put him out. When his legs and his equilibrium was shot there
11:03 was no way that he could he could continue. Absolutely no way.
11:14 Impressive impressive performance by a career opponent. The career opponent
11:23 ultimately took this fight without the expectation to win but showed up and
11:29 just delivered bomb after bomb even after being hurt. Hits that I mean just
11:35 stuns him with a straight right and delivers an incredible left to the top
11:39 of the head that just lost his leg took his legs and his equilibrium with him.
11:43 Very very gritty performance by Taliq Taylor collecting his sixth win of his
11:54 professional career and likely earned him a very very quick and perhaps
12:05 lucrative paycheck.
12:09 The official time comes to you 148 round number three as a referee Sean Woods
12:18 puts a halt to this contest to the winner by TKO.
