00:00 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously, it's not ideal, but
00:04 I think just powering through it and pushing through the pain.
00:10 I think the biggest thing is learning how to play with it.
00:16 And I think it's been getting better every single week and
00:20 just learning kind of how to move on it a little bit and stuff like that.
00:24 >> [INAUDIBLE]
00:28 >> Yeah, I mean, I think honestly, coming out of the game,
00:32 I thought it would hurt worse than it does now, so I feel pretty good right now.
00:37 >> [INAUDIBLE]
00:41 >> No, I mean, it's gonna take a lot for
00:44 me to take myself out of the game.
00:48 I mean, I knew I was good enough to continue to play, so
00:51 I really never thought about it.
00:53 >> [INAUDIBLE]
01:03 >> I mean, obviously, on both plays,
01:08 Martin did a good job of beating man coverage on the one and
01:11 finding a hole against zone.
01:13 And I think the coolest thing about both those plays is it's something that we
01:17 worked a bunch during the week and to see it happen on Saturday was pretty rewarding.
01:22 >> [INAUDIBLE]
01:32 >> Yeah, I mean, I think that's kind of how it was in high school.
01:49 I mean, we had a good receiving core in high school, but
01:52 obviously, given the type of player he is, there's a lot of times where it's not
01:57 a bad answer to try and find him, regardless of the route and the coverage.
02:01 He's gonna do a good job of finding a way to get open.
02:05 And I think you guys see that day in and day out from him,
02:08 just how consistent he is.
02:10 I don't think it really matters what the defense tries to do to him,
02:14 what route we give him, he's gonna find a way to get open mid plays.
02:17 >> [INAUDIBLE]
02:21 >> Yeah, I mean, growing up,
02:22 that was the team I grew up cheering for going to their games.
02:26 And so to kind of see it all come full circle, especially playing,
02:29 like you said, at Rutgers, it's gonna be fun.
02:31 A bunch of family and friends there.
02:33 And like I said, just seeing it all come full circle is pretty cool.
02:37 >> What does it mean that you get a back to back on the Super Bowl on Saturday?
02:41 What does that get you?
02:41 What does that get you off the bus?
02:43 >> Yeah, I think early on, obviously,
02:47 Meck had a really big impact in the games he played with together.
02:52 And he did a good job of making plays with the ball in his hand,
02:57 obviously in the Notre Dame game, he had a big game there with some clutch plays.
03:01 And so I think people kind of just assume that we have Marvin,
03:07 Meck doesn't really have a big role in the offense.
03:09 And I don't think that's true at all.
03:10 I think you saw it, especially early on the year, exploiting matchups with him.
03:15 And so to get a guy like that back is huge.
03:18 And so I mean, he's looked really good in practice.
03:20 And I thought he was gonna be good enough to go last weekend, but
03:24 I think they just played it safe.
03:25 So whenever that game comes, when he's finally back out there, I'm excited for it.
03:29 >> Everybody has plays in the game that you love to play, that's part of the sport.
03:34 Coach Davis saying, obviously, the first thing for you is to play English.
03:38 You had that.
03:39 When you have a moment like that, what do you try to do with that?
03:43 What do you try to learn from it?
03:44 I mean, you watched that.
03:46 This has killed a lot of dudes that you know, I don't wanna look at,
03:49 I just wanna go behind you.
03:50 Like, how do you deal with it?
03:51 I know I don't wanna do that again.
03:53 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously, the only thing I can do to describe the interception
03:58 is just to don't play on my fault.
04:00 And I think I have to grow from that.
04:03 And I think sometimes as bad as it is,
04:08 I think the best way to not make a mistake twice is to do it in a moment like that.
04:12 And obviously, you wanna cut down on plays like that and
04:15 eliminate that cuz I cost the team points there.
04:18 But definitely a learning moment and something that I think I'll grow from.
04:24 And like I said, I think obviously you don't wanna have it happen,
04:28 especially in a moment like that, but definitely a moment to get better from.
04:32 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:42 >> Yeah, I think the biggest thing with Coach Day's offense,
04:53 Coach Dennis says it all the time, is you're gonna get yours if you just
04:58 follow the rules of the offense, continue to go through your reads.
05:03 And just trust your eyes and what you see, big plays are gonna happen.
05:06 And whether that's throwing a drag to Marvin, having him running in for
05:10 a touchdown, or throwing a shot down the field, I mean,
05:12 you're gonna get yours regardless.
05:14 And so I think the biggest thing is not pressing for those plays and
05:17 just letting them happen as the game flows.
05:19 >> How are they?
05:21 What has your past defense been like against the New Country?
05:23 What do you see from them that's challenging?
05:26 >> Yeah, obviously I think the first thing is they're really well coached, and
05:31 I think it's an underrated team.
05:33 Honestly, I mean, they're 6-2 for a reason, and
05:35 they've been playing good football, and a talented group too.
05:39 And so I think when you pair that with Coach Shiano,
05:41 who's in my eyes one of the better coaches in college football, that's the result.
05:47 And so we know that it's gonna be a big test, especially on the road, and
05:50 we're gonna have to bring our A game.
05:52 >> Kyle, are you allowed to at least see if Marvin has a shot almost every play?
05:59 I mean, you understand what I'm saying, man.
06:02 I grew up in the era of keystone combos,
06:04 of quarterback and receiver kind of being done together and stuff.
06:08 Are you allowed to peek at Marvin from every play?
06:10 How does that work?
06:12 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously, it depends on, I think, A, the play call, and
06:16 then B, the coverage.
06:18 But I said this earlier, I think there's never a time where going to Marvin
06:23 isn't a great idea.
06:25 And I think regardless of the coverage and
06:29 regardless of what route he's running, he's done a really good job all year
06:32 finding different ways to get open.
06:34 And I think he'll continue to do that, and
06:36 I think that's a credit to the way he watches film.
06:40 Being able to see what the defense is doing and
06:43 how they're trying to stop him and exploit it.
06:46 And I think at the same time, he knows if they wanna double hammer,
06:49 give him extra attention, it's gonna open other people up.
06:51 And so I think he's done a good job of kind of taking both of those in stride.
06:55 >> Yeah, we saw you kind of hop out.
06:56 I mean, you probably didn't ask this before we got here,
06:58 but kind of hop out of the last week's game.
07:00 But was there any way you weren't going back in?
07:03 >> No, I mean- >> And what drives you in that?
07:05 >> Yeah, I mean, I knew it's gonna take a lot for me not to go back in.
07:12 I knew I felt good enough to continue to play.
07:14 I think the more time went on, I just kind of started walking on it a little bit
07:19 more and running on it, felt better.
07:22 So I mean, obviously in the moment it hurt, but given the circumstances,
07:26 there's no doubt in my mind that I was gonna do that game.
07:28 >> [INAUDIBLE]
07:35 >> Yeah, so obviously trying to take
07:38 a shot down the field and the cornerback, I mean, he made a good play.
07:43 Obviously, I have to see him and do a better job of just being safe with the ball
07:47 and checking it down, but I fell off Carnell and
07:51 jumped in front of the route that Marvin was running.
07:54 So a look that I hadn't seen, but I think it's just another learning moment and
08:02 understanding that you put certain plays on film,
08:06 teams are gonna start to scheme it up a little bit.
08:08 And I think I made a good play, but I think I just have to be better than that.
08:12 >> [INAUDIBLE]
08:22 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously, a lot of attention on social media is going to that,
08:30 whatever, but at the end of the day, we know none of that matters if we don't
08:34 continue to win, and although it's cool to be the number one team in the nation,
08:40 it's November 1st, and I think the biggest thing is that
08:46 keeping the main thing the main thing, and that's winning, that's stacking these games
08:50 and continuing to improve, and if we're still the number one team at the end of
08:54 the year, then that's the goal.
08:55 >> [INAUDIBLE]
09:05 >> Yeah, so obviously,
09:10 going back and
09:14 watching the film,
09:19 we had a little bit of a quick pass called, third and
09:22 short, trying to get the ball out of my hands and get the first down.
09:27 And I think Wisconsin had a good call, they zoned it out and dropped that
09:30 underneath, and I just kind of felt that void right there in the middle of the field.
09:35 If I can scramble up and get a few yards to get the first down,
09:38 that's what I'm gonna do.
09:39 And then obviously, when it hit me, it didn't feel great.
09:43 But I think the biggest thing is just trying to keep us on schedule, and
09:47 know any way I can, if that's tucking my head down and
09:51 picking up a few yards, that's what I'm gonna try to do.
09:52 >> All right, Kyle.
09:53 >> Thank you.
09:54 >> Thanks.
