Swedish Tanks That Need Adding to War Thunder - Part 1
With 75 vehicles, the Swedish Tank Tech Tree is one of the smallest in War Thunder, beating only Israel and Italy. However, this used to be a much worse situation, with Sweden’s tech tree until recently only numbering around 57 Swedish tanks.
However in the end this was only rectified by the addition of Finland as a subtree, diluting the amount of Swedish tanks present in the Swedish Tank Tech Tree and perhaps suggesting Gaijin was running out of Swedish tanks to add.
However this is not the case and their are still many Swedish tanks that could be added to War Thunder. So join me as we take a look at these vehicles, their history, stats and how I think they will work in War Thunder!

00:00With only 75 vehicles, the Swedish Tank Tech
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined3
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedby the addition of Finland as a subtree.
00:23But despite the large increase in available
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined7
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedgrimdarkness of the 41st year of the 20th century,
00:49Europe only knew war and as such Sweden decided
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined12
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedand then of course we come to the the Strv m/40k.
01:19The m/40k was very similar to the
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined16
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedwere very similar to each other,
01:38but there are some noticeable differences
undefined:undefined19
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedpoints so that 30mm applique armour plates could
01:57be installed, with the idea being the tanks could
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined23
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefineddisregarded and the frontal hull is produced
02:20as a single 50mm armour plate. In real life
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined27
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedto the frontal armour the side armour is slightly
02:43increased from 13mm to around 18mm, so at least
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined31
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedgreatly affected the max speed,
03:07which should remain around 28mph or 45kmh, which
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined35
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedto have any major effects in the game,
03:38but of course it is something to bear in mind.
03:41Despite all the other changes the
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined40
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedthe 2 x m/39 7.62mm coaxial machine guns.
04:07When added to War Thunder, I would suggest
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined44
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedhave the same battle rating as the 40L at 2.0,
04:30because as I’ve said before they are very similar
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined48
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedlarger it could in theory be easier to spot,
04:50though again I don’t think this is really going
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined52
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedNow for the
05:07next tank I wasn’t really sure whether to
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined56
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedin question is the Strv m/21-29, which was
05:29originally a German tank that was adopted and
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined60
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedthese were not finished by the end of World War I
05:56and the subsequent Treaty of Versailles prohibited
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined64
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedunassembled tanks, as they subsequently brought
06:17enough parts to construct 10 tanks, which were
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined68
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedtheir redesignation as the Strv m/21-29.
06:50Unfortunately, there are also virtually
06:53no pictures of the tank with
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined74
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedused on FCM 36, but the m/21-29’s in service
07:17used a different 37mmgun. Information
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined78
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedI’ve been unable to confirm which exact type.
07:42This has also understandably meant that
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined82
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedguns of this type and would make it somewhat
08:03competitive in the lower tiers, though like
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined86
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedof rivets and bolts, which as many of you know
08:26does cause additional issues from spalling
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined90
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefineddetermine, as while the original crew was 2,
08:53with a driver and commander, in Swedish
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined95
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedin the hull and the commander in the turret.
09:12If added to War Thunder under the current
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined99
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedinterwar or World War I era tanks at below 1.0,
09:37for example the Strv m/21-29 could be a 0.3
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined103
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefineddecent tank, especially against other interwar or
10:02World War 1 era tanks and would even potentially
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined107
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedWar Thunder in this fashion.
10:20Lastly, we have the L-180 or Pbil m/41 in Swedish
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined111
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedsome of the variants that those nations used.
10:45Ironically despite being produced in Sweden
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined115
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedthird of the purchase price was paid up front.
11:09However, with the outbreak of war and AB Landsverk
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined119
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedalready paid balance at the end of the war. Once
11:32in Swedish service they were put into service
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined123
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedto this it also had 2 x 8mm Ksp m/36 machine guns,
12:021 in a coaxial position and 1 mounted at
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined127
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedto be pretty quick on flat terrain,
12:21having a top speed of 50mph or 80kmh, making this
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined131
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedin the turret, making this a well crewed vehicle
12:46able to sustain some casualties without causing
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined135
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedreally an obvious spot it could go in.
13:09Perhaps it could go somewhere
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined139
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedfrom its fast-firing autocannon before quickly
13:32escaping to a new position where it can try
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined143
undefined:undefined
undefined:undefinedthere are any other Swedish vehicles you
13:51would like me to cover. I’ll be looking
undefined:undefined00:00:05,760 --> 00:00:11,880
undefined:undefined147
