00:00 >> Hello everyone, welcome to the post match press conference with Sri Lanka's Navid Nambas.
00:06 I will hand over to Mahinda who will run the press conference, but please may I ask that
00:13 everyone just asks one question. And if there's two roaming microphones, if you can please
00:18 pass them amongst you, that would be most helpful. Thank you.

04:45 >> Is it a cause for concern that it's the start of decline of Sri Lankan cricket,
05:01 or it's nothing of that sort? Because Sri Lanka first failed to qualify directly,
05:06 but then came through the qualifying rounds, and then these kind of performances.
05:10 What are we to understand?
05:13 >> Well, it's a cause of concern for sure, but
05:16 I don't see it as the decline of Sri Lanka cricket.
05:20 We've got a young group of players who's, I mean, we've got only a few guys who
05:26 play over 100 ODIs here in this group as well.
05:31 So I think it's a rebuilding stage where we are a couple of new players are still
05:39 learning the trade, I would say.
05:42 So we have some exciting prospects back home and also in this group.
05:49 And I hope they'll take every opportunity to learn from the mistakes done and
05:56 move forward and do well in the future.
06:00 So that's the only hope that we have.

09:50 >> This World Cup seems to be for Sri Lanka more or less done and dusted.
10:06 So what about the two remaining matches?
10:09 I mean, how are you gonna approach them because we have to finish in the first seven
10:14 to qualify for the champion's trophy.
10:16 So how important are the remaining matches gonna be?
10:19 >> I think it's gonna be important that we finish above the eight
10:24 to qualify for champion's trophy.
10:26 So like they say, I mean, we got to find a factor to motivate the boys and
10:33 keep them alive because we had the same issue in June
10:39 when we played the World Cup qualifiers.
10:43 So there was no guarantee when we went into Zimbabwe to qualify for the World Cup.
10:47 We had to win all our games and
10:50 as well we came to the finals to qualify for this tournament.
10:55 So I guess we've crossed that barrier and
10:59 we've got a pretty young team as I told you before.
11:04 So we'll get back and we'll get the boys motivated and get back in and
11:10 somehow see what we can do in the next two games,
11:14 try and bring out our best cricket.
11:18 >> Navid, we've been speaking about batting collapses.
11:21 We've seen a few this year.
11:23 There was one in Trivandrum in January,
11:25 two against Pakistan back home in the Asia Cup final and now they're here.
11:29 We know that the batters need to take up responsibility, but
11:32 how much of responsibility should the batting coach take up?
11:35 >> 100%, I mean, there are areas that has worked and
11:39 there are areas that has not worked.
11:42 So as coaches, I mean, we are all responsible for whatever happens.
11:48 >> Coach, I just wanna know one thing.
11:53 Having seen the Indian bowling up front,
11:57 both in the Asia Cup final as well as in the World Cup match.
12:02 What are your thoughts on this?
12:04 Is this the best bowling combination that you've seen from India ever?
12:10 >> Well, yeah, we've faced them in the Asia Cup final as well as today.
12:16 I've seen the bowling attack, Bumrah, Siraj and
12:21 of course, Shami, they're very skillful.
12:24 They always get the batsman to play the ball and
12:28 the ball's always attacked on the stumps.
12:32 And they all can swing the ball both ways.
12:35 And also we've seen their death over skills as well,
12:38 the middle as well as the dead.
12:40 So I guess it may be one of the best bowling attacks for
12:45 India in the recent times.
12:48 >> [INAUDIBLE]
12:58 >> Yeah, he's been doing really well for
13:01 the last one year or so since he was graduated from the under 19
13:06 into the national team.
13:08 He's held on to his nerve pretty well today and bowling,
13:13 after he was being hit for a couple of fours as well,
13:18 came back in the second spell and bowled really well.
13:22 He mixing it up in the depth as well.
13:24 So we're happy for him and he's one of our future prospects, I would say.
