00:00 Hi, my name's Bryony Burke and I'm one of four finalists representing the best dressed
00:09 category at the Melbourne Cups Fashions on the Field this year.
00:14 This is my outfit that I'll be wearing.
00:17 Tell us a bit about your design.
00:20 So my design started with the fabric.
00:23 I found it online on Etsy.
00:26 It's a beautiful, thick jacquard with really subtle sort of blue and minty colours of the
00:34 cholera-thick tulips.
00:35 I just love the subtlety of the fabric and how it just makes such an impact but in such
00:40 an elegant way.
00:41 So when I thought about creating the design, I wanted to make something that had personality
00:49 and structure but yet be quite chic and not be over-fun.
00:56 So I found the waistcoat pattern.
00:57 So it's a 1980s waistcoat pattern.
00:58 So I found a pattern for that.
00:59 I already had the trousers and as soon as I just thought waistcoat trousers, I knew
01:00 I was onto a winner.
01:01 So I've actually...
01:02 It's a beautiful halter neck, which is great and super flattering on, which is also great.
01:17 I used the back side of the fabric to create the classic stripe down the side of the trouser
01:25 and do all the accents.
01:26 So the pocket and the cover buttons are all using the back side of the fabric.
01:27 I paired it with a Catherine Lee, she lives in Sydney, a piece from her.
01:28 I've got some gorgeous blue shoes and a little wicker bag that go with it too.
01:29 So super chic and hopefully effortless looking.
