  • last year
Erin Patterson, a 49-year-old Australian woman, has been charged with three counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder related to a suspected mushroom poisoning case. The murder charges relate to a family lunch she hosted in July at her home, where three people later died after reporting violent illness. Court documents allege that Patterson also attempted to kill her estranged husband Simon Patterson. Police believe the guests consumed deadly death cap mushrooms in the meal Patterson served. However, she maintains she inadvertently served button mushrooms she purchased from the supermarket mixed with dried mushrooms bought months prior.
