00:13 - There's this palpable sense of alienation
00:18 where you were expected to know your place.

00:25 - And they began to challenge that.
00:29 - Blacks are getting increasingly fed up
00:31 with the police force they consider racist.
00:34 - We were filled by history.
00:36 We were all dispossessed.
00:38 But we don't talk about that.
00:40 - We have so many amazing black histories in Canada.
00:48 - Whether it's Montreal, Halifax, or Vancouver,
00:54 we were never meant to prosper here.
00:56 Look where we are under that legacy.
00:59 - Canada wasn't this promised land.
01:01 It was another step in a journey for freedom.
01:04 - We can't sit around and say that,
01:07 "Oh, it's not gonna change."
01:08 No, we have to do everything in our power to do that.

01:12 of audacity and imagination.

01:18 - These stories are us.
01:20 - These are all means of black people
01:23 organizing their lives against erasure.
