Gaspar Martínez González's Fatal Crash @ Rally de Colonias Unidas 2023
A young Argentine spectator lost his life in a freak accident during the Rally de Colonias Unidas, a round of Paraguayan National Rally Championship. It happened on Sunday, 13 August 2023.
During the eight special stage, Aca Karaya - Fordi 5 1 , the Škoda Fabia R5 #30 driven by Franco Pappalardo - Victor Aguilera lost a wheel which flew into spectators who stood behind the fence. It struck six-year-old boy Gaspar Emanuel Martínez González who was transported to Sanatorio Adventista de Hohenau, province of Itapúa in southern Paraguay, where he passed away shortly after the accident.
The rally was stopped following the fatal accident. Augusto Bestard - José Luis Díaz in Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 were declared winners.
Gaspar Emanuel Martínez González was from Posadas, province of Misiones, Argentina, where he played as goalkeeper for child football Club La Cantera. He was buried at Encarnación, province of Itapúa, Paraguay.
