00:00 little slumber party with the Core Four.
00:02 - Core Four? - Yeah.
00:03 - Did you just give us a nickname?
00:04 - We love the Core Four.
00:05 I think one of the things that we all reacted to
00:09 when we read the draft for the first time,
00:11 one of the things that didn't change much
00:13 from the first draft to the shooting draft
00:15 was this idea of the Core Four.
00:18 And you know, for us, there's something
00:20 in this movie specifically,
00:22 but I think we kinda do it in all our movies,
00:23 but this one, we really lean into this idea
00:26 of they're sort of secret feel-good movies.
00:28 In this one, the Core Four was that kind of ingredient
00:31 for us.
00:32 Core Four, up top.
00:33 - No. - D'Arbo.
00:34 - Get that away from me.
00:35 - And the actors who play the Core Four
00:37 have become really close friends of ours,
00:39 and so watching that relationship between them
00:42 and all of us together kind of evolve
00:45 over the course of both movies is something
00:47 just really special that I don't think we were expecting,
00:50 and that I think you feel when you're watching the movie.
00:52 - It's always a gift to be able to join something
00:54 that you grew up watching.
00:56 I was a fan of Scream.
00:58 I grew up watching the movies and admiring these actors,
01:01 and then being able to step in and act alongside them
01:05 is surreal, but then also coming in with a character
01:08 that is related to one of the OGs is insane.
01:12 - I think this one delivers in a different way
01:14 in that there are a ton of scary moments,
01:16 but there's a level of baseline intensity
01:19 that I think Matt and Tyler really over-delivered.
01:22 And I think part of that is the energy of a big city.
01:24 - New York also is a setting.
01:25 I'm from New York, I live in New York,
01:27 and so it's fun for me to play in that world.
01:31 Dark streets and not knowing what's around the next corner,
01:35 as opposed to the kind of suburban California,
01:37 really letting the city be more of an inspiration
01:41 for the look and trying to go a little bit grittier
01:43 with this a little bit, I think visually more grounded
01:48 in the kind of urban world where anything
01:50 could be lurking around any corner.
01:52 - Brett, there's such a quiet kindness to the way
01:55 that he runs that department that it's really infectious.
01:58 It's very stress-free,
01:59 even when things feel really stressful.
02:01 Brett is just like always there grinding it out.
02:05 We love him dearly,
02:05 like he's the fourth member of Radio Silence.
02:08 Speaking of collaboration, you're blocking it on the day.
02:10 Melissa had a great note.
02:12 She was like, "I would do something.
02:13 "My character would do something more here.
02:15 "The scene is missing, it's missing a moment."
02:18 So we took a step back and in a matter of a few minutes,
02:21 designed that moment where they get behind
02:23 the end cap of the aisle and Sam grabs the beer can
02:28 and throws it to misdirect Doe's face.
02:30 That whole little moment,
02:32 that little bit of Do-si-do of cat and mouse,
02:33 which really is where so much of the tension
02:35 of that sequence lives.
02:36 That came of the experience of trusting Melissa
02:40 and Melissa trusting us,
02:41 and the sequence is so much better for that.
02:43 - The screen movies are, I'm alone in a house
02:48 and the phone rings and maybe I'm not alone in the house
02:52 and where is the killer?
02:53 And the idea of flipping that on its head
02:56 to I'm on a subway train with a hundred people
03:01 and I can't get off and any of them might wanna kill me
03:04 is I think equally scary, but a very different gear.
03:08 - New York, sometimes when you're new to a city like that,
03:11 you feel alone, even though you're surrounded
03:12 by millions of people, there are monsters all around you.
03:15 And I think the Halloween theme that we added to this movie
03:18 was also inherent of that and super fun.
03:20 We were able to play with these iconic villains
03:23 and monsters and have them surround our heroes
03:26 in just everyday mundane circumstances.
03:29 - New York is a perfect place to have this movie set.
03:32 Ghostface can hide amongst so many people
03:34 and yet he can see you, he's always there to see you,
03:37 but you don't necessarily know where he is.
03:40 And especially set around this time of,
03:42 the Halloween time of year where people are in costumes,
03:45 it's just genius.
03:46 I think it's added so much horror to it
03:49 just by the location.
03:51 - So you're just gonna pretend it never happened.
03:53 What are you doing here, Sam?
03:55 In New York?
03:56 You just follow me here
03:57 and you won't let me out of your sight.
