00:07 - International third runner up Nicole Borromeo
00:09 (speaking in foreign language)
00:13 (speaking in foreign language)
00:17 International pageant Tokyo, Japan.
00:20 (speaking in foreign language)
00:24 Top five.
00:24 (speaking in foreign language)
00:25 Third runner up among 70 candidates.
00:28 (speaking in foreign language)
00:32 - I've been flooded with messages
00:50 that I didn't get the chance to respond to yet.
00:53 Of people telling me that they were proud.
00:55 And at first I was like, really?
00:57 Like, I didn't win, but you all thought,
01:02 you all still are proud of me.
01:05 You all still think that I am a queen.
01:10 (speaking in foreign language)
01:17 We've been truly blessed.
01:21 (speaking in foreign language)
01:25 2023 Miss International third runner up
01:29 (speaking in foreign language)
01:32 - Hello.
01:32 (speaking in foreign language)
01:34 - Yes, thank you so much for picking me up at the airport,
01:38 saying a quick hello and interview.
01:40 I really enjoyed talking to you yesterday.
01:42 (speaking in foreign language)
01:49 Among 70 candidates.
01:51 (speaking in foreign language)
01:52 - Yeah, yeah, and I was there for almost a month too.
01:56 So the whole experience was, it was incredible.
01:58 (speaking in foreign language)
02:02 - Super, there's so much to enjoy
02:06 from the food to the people.
02:08 I think one of my favorite experiences
02:10 was actually getting to visit the schools.
02:13 Because that's something you can't do as a tourist.
02:15 And we got to meet the little kids
02:17 and the high school students.
02:19 We had conversations.
02:21 And right after that, we got to play games with them.
02:24 So the traditional games, they taught us origami,
02:27 even calligraphy.
02:29 Yeah, and there was this traditional Japanese game.
02:32 It's really similar to Sipa,
02:34 but instead of using your foot,
02:35 they have this little paddle board.
02:37 I keep forgetting what it's called,
02:39 but it was really fun.
02:40 (speaking in foreign language)
02:43 So much fun.
02:44 - But what lessons have you learned
02:46 throughout your Miss International pageant journey?
02:50 (speaking in foreign language)
02:53 'Cause you were crowned last year, Pa.
02:58 - Exactly.
02:58 - And then this year,
02:59 (speaking in foreign language)
03:03 How was that journey?
03:06 - I think the biggest lesson
03:08 is to be present throughout it all.
03:12 Being crowned, I could look at it,
03:13 I could look to the future and think,
03:14 "Hey, I have so much time.
03:16 "When's my time gonna come?"
03:18 Or I could be in the moment and think,
03:21 "Oh, what about the coronation night?
03:24 "What about the dress tomorrow?
03:25 "What about the next event?"
03:26 And the reality is,
03:29 you can enjoy things as long as you take it day by day.
03:32 Take the moment to pause.
03:34 And that was also something I learned
03:35 with the Japanese culture.
03:37 Right, they're really big on tea ceremonies.
03:39 - Yes, yes.
03:41 - If you know anything about tea ceremonies,
03:43 it's very mindful.
03:46 So the person who makes you the tea
03:48 takes the time to make it for you,
03:50 takes the time to put it in this beautiful cup for you,
03:53 and you accept it with respect,
03:55 and you take the time to appreciate the cup itself
03:59 plus the tea.
04:00 And just this appreciation for that is,
04:03 I think it's a beautiful thing that we can all learn from.
04:06 (speaking in foreign language)
04:10 - And of course, after your success
04:13 in Miss International Pageant,
04:15 (speaking in foreign language)
04:19 - Yeah, Michelle D!
04:20 - Michelle Mortes-D, our vet
04:23 in Miss Universe International Pageant.
04:27 (speaking in foreign language)
04:39 - Gosh, I watched her in her pageant last May.
04:43 Was it in May?
04:44 Earlier this year, and she was fantastic.
04:46 She performed so, so well,
04:49 and I think she was so deserving.
04:51 And now that I'm seeing her, her preparations,
04:56 she's so spot on, her interview is incredible,
04:58 her styling is amazing.
05:00 I think she's gonna do so well.
05:02 So Michelle, good luck out there.
05:05 Take it day by day, and enjoy every moment.
05:09 You have the whole Philippines behind you,
05:12 and you have our support.
05:15 We'll be voting every day.
05:17 We've got the Bayanian spirit right there for you.
05:19 (speaking in foreign language)
05:23 - It was incredible to have them there.
05:34 A lot of them, 'cause last year during Bini Bini,
05:37 they were supposed to come and watch,
05:40 but some had to back out,
05:41 especially with the cases going on.
05:44 And so when the Tokyo trip was happening,
05:47 I couldn't really believe it at first.
05:48 I was like, "Oh, let's see what happens."
05:51 Even though they had booked the tickets,
05:54 they did all that, I didn't really feel it sink in
05:56 until I was backstage on the night itself.
06:00 One of the chaperones came in, and she's like,
06:02 "I see your family.
06:03 "They have their flags for you outside,
06:06 "and they're so loud.
06:07 "The supporters, the support from the Philippines,
06:10 "it's really out there."
06:13 (speaking in foreign language)
06:17 - Oh, what's next, what's next?
06:29 Well, I still haven't finished my studies yet,
06:31 so I'm hoping to get my degree.
06:33 - You're taking up interior design.
06:34 - I'm studying interior design, yes.
06:36 I did take a break in order to fully focus
06:39 for this competition.
06:40 (speaking in foreign language)
06:43 I'd say if the opportunity presents itself,
06:46 I'd say why not?
06:48 I'm very open to it,
06:49 and let's see what the future holds for me.
06:53 Really exciting things are coming.
06:54 (speaking in foreign language)
06:58 (speaking in foreign language)
07:02 - Okay, I'm gonna teach you what I've been taught.
07:24 Make sure your shoulders are back, right?
07:26 Posture up.
07:28 Imagine a string on top of your head
07:30 pulling you towards the sky.
07:32 - Okay.
07:33 - You're ready to float.
07:35 And when you walk, make sure your legs are straight,
07:38 your knees aren't bent.
07:39 (speaking in foreign language)
07:40 And ready?
07:41 - Ready, ready, Nicole, go!
07:43 - Three, two, one, and go.
07:44 One, two, three.
07:46 Don't forget to look around the audience and say hello.
07:48 (speaking in foreign language)
07:52 And aura, aura.
07:53 (speaking in foreign language)
07:55 (speaking in foreign language)
07:59 And don't forget to look back at the audience.
08:05 (speaking in foreign language)
08:09 - Thank you so much, Nicole!
08:12 (speaking in foreign language)
08:16 Thank you so much!
08:19 - Thank you.
