00:00 So 100cc and 150cc motorcycles are in high demand in the Indian two-wheeler segment.
00:13 Now we have an electric motorcycle.
00:16 Welcome to Drivespark, I'm Vedant Johari and this is the Urban Roar electric motorcycle.
00:25 So now starting off with the front end of the motorcycle.
00:28 We have an LED headlight with the Urban badging on it with two sleek, very nicely designed
00:34 indicators and in the front we have telescopic suspensions which is placed right next to
00:40 270mm front disc brakes.
00:42 So now this motorcycle, speaking about the disc brakes, which comes with a unified brake
00:47 assist.
00:48 And what's a unified brake assist?
00:50 That's nothing but a combi braking system.
00:52 So you press one brake, both the brakes get engaged.
00:56 So we have 270mm plates in the front and 240mm in the rear.
01:00 And what's the braking system?
01:01 Well, it's a hydraulic braking system which gives you that little sharper bite on your
01:08 brakes no matter what you press, the back or the front.
01:11 Now as we move through the motorcycle, we have a very differently designed tank, so
01:17 to say.
01:18 It's an electric motorcycle so you don't really have a fuel tank.
01:21 This section, as you can see, is very upright but it doesn't have proper padding, proper
01:27 grips for your knees over here.
01:30 Now I'll come to that when I'm talking about the ride feel of the motorcycle and all of
01:34 that.
01:35 Also the crash guards on this motorcycle are the first in the segment.
01:38 So far we haven't seen an electric motorcycle with crash guards and this is just for safety
01:44 purposes.
01:45 It protects your leg, it protects the bike if there's any mishap that occurs.
01:50 Also in terms of your protection, your battery pack comes with a 4mm aluminium casing.
01:56 Again, just for your basic requirements.
01:59 You're riding in the city, you have stones flying all over the place, you have potholes
02:04 that you might hit which you may not see.
02:06 So all of that, the aluminium casing just protects that from any further damage, any
02:10 unnecessary damage to your battery pack.
02:13 As we move along the motorcycle, we have the rawr barging on your tank on the side of the
02:19 motorcycle and your main open barging is located in the front in a very nice silver that blends
02:26 in with the whole colour scheme of the motorcycle.
02:29 So as we move to the rear of the motorcycle, as it's a commuter, it does have the commuter
02:33 look but with a touch of sportiness as looks always enhance the feel of whatever you're
02:41 on.
02:42 For local purposes, for the basic Indian customer, as it's a commuter motorcycle, it also comes
02:47 with a sari guard just to prevent any, again, anything wrong from happening.
02:53 The moment you're in the sporty seating position, if you wanna look at your display, it is tilted
03:00 a little too upright so it sort of blocks out your view.
03:04 However, as it's a commuter, you really don't find yourself sitting in this position throughout.
03:10 You normally find yourself upright in a more comfortable position.
03:13 When you're in a comfortable position, when you're in the regular riding position, it's
03:16 exactly a nice view.
03:18 It's not at all out of place for you to look in a certain way to see the display.
03:23 It's right there in your field of vision.
03:25 So coming to the display of the Urban Rawr, it's a 5-inch LED colour segmented display
03:31 and a really interesting feature about this is it has automatic brightness.
03:37 So if you're in a shady location like where we are right now, the brightness of the display
03:43 will either reduce or increase based on our surroundings just to make it easier for us
03:48 to see.
03:49 So if you're riding in peak sunlight, the sensor that's located in the display will
03:55 automatically read that and increase the brightness so that we can look at it with much more ease
04:01 without having to strain our eyes.
04:03 Whereas if you're in a shady location like this, it'll read that and it'll reduce the
04:08 brightness because you really don't need a bright display at that point.
04:12 Just any light can be seen through.
04:21 So now coming to the battery and the motor of this motorcycle.
04:26 So this has a 4.4 kilowatt battery pack with an 8 kilowatt motor that produces around 52
04:34 Newton meters of torque.
04:36 Now this 8 kilowatt battery has been redesigned from the previous version.
04:40 The previous version came with a 10 kilowatt battery, but now with the 8 kilowatt battery,
04:47 it would obviously reduce the weight resulting in a better power to weight ratio on the motorcycle.
04:53 In terms of performance of the motorcycle, we have three ride modes, Eco, City and Havoc.
05:00 Eco being the most easiest mode, the one with the least amount of power and Havoc being
05:05 the one with the most amount of power.
05:07 In the short time that we got to ride the motorcycle, I mainly rode it on Havoc as you
05:12 were on open roads, on free roads.
05:14 The bike accelerating from zero till 40 took around three seconds and you could really
05:21 feel the initial torque.
05:22 However, as the speed increased, the torque gradually reduced.
05:27 You really don't need a lot of power, a lot of the pull once you cross 70 as a commuter
05:34 vehicle is mainly used in the city, is mainly used from point A to point B and very little
05:40 for your long rides.
05:42 So in terms of the design of the motorcycle and the battery in proportion to that, it
05:48 has enough power to actually satisfy you.
05:52 But if you are looking for speed on the highway and all of that stuff, the battery won't really
05:58 give you that thrill of like, I'm going fast.
06:01 The bike can top out at around 105 kilometres or 106 kilometres per hour.
06:07 And after that, you do feel the motor cutting off as you've reached your maximum speed that
06:12 the bike is designed to go.
06:14 So this battery, as per the ideal driving conditions, they claim around 187 kilometres
06:20 of range.
06:21 However, in actual city riding where you're constantly braking, accelerating, stopping,
06:26 all of that, you get in Eco mode, you get 120 kilometres of range, in City mode, you
06:33 get 90 kilometres of range and in Havoc mode, you get 70 kilometres of range.
06:38 On Havoc mode, still getting 70 kilometres of range is pretty impressive as from going
06:42 to your house to work and back on Havoc.
06:46 So if you're those riders who like to go in and out of traffic in the city, who really
06:50 like to have fun riding in traffic, you can ride on Havoc mode through the day.
06:56 But if you want to increase your range, if you want to go that one step further, you
07:01 may have to change down to City or Eco, just so that you can reach your final destination
07:07 without running out of juice on the motorcycle.
07:10 So the Urban Roar is available in two colour schemes.
07:13 One, as you can see over here, is the red and black and the other one is a yellow colour
07:18 scheme.
07:19 So you have the red over here, it's a yellow in the other motorcycle with a few touches
07:23 of grey around the bike.
07:25 Both are super eye-catchy, if you see it on the road, it will turn your head as these
07:31 colours are really bright and they really stand out.
07:35 And plus, red and black is honestly a beautiful colour scheme to have, in my opinion, on any
07:40 motorcycle.
07:41 Now coming to the service of this bike, your first three services up to 5000 kilometres
07:47 are free and after that, as a standard, you get either three years or 50,000 kilometres
07:53 of service, whichever comes first and you also have an optional package, which is five
07:58 years or 75,000 kilometres, again, whichever comes first.
08:04 So coming to the price point of the Urban Roar, it's priced at Rs 1,49,000 ex-showroom
08:09 and as it's a commuter, as it's designed to be the electric counterpart of the 100-250cc
08:15 bikes, it's a very, very strong pricing, very competitive and for what you get, it's
08:22 completely worth it.
08:24 So let us know in the comment section down below, what you think of the Urban Roar and
08:28 what you like the most about this new electric motorcycle.
08:32 My name is Vedant Johari, signing out.
