00:05 My name's Dave. This is T2, Trouble Version 2,
00:09 who imprinted on me as a chick.
00:11 I didn't take a lot of persuading to keep her, to be honest though.
00:14 And she's just become a really big part of my life.
00:17 Apart from work, she goes everywhere with me.
00:19 She rides around in the car, goes shopping, so she waits in the car for me.
00:23 And enjoys getting out of the car and eating Scotch egg,
00:26 much to the amusement of a lot of people.
00:28 [Music]
00:29 And she's brilliant at breaking down barriers.
00:31 You speak to people you would never speak to before.
00:33 Most people were just absolutely amazed.
00:37 I've had a lot of people say, "I don't think I could ever eat turkey again."
00:40 I've got a few turkeys. I keep them just for their eggs.
00:42 And normally I try and keep a couple of eggs in the car
00:44 so that I can give them to people to try.
00:46 Mum was sitting on 12 eggs and the first two hatched.
00:49 And unfortunately the chicks got wet, got cold.
00:52 Must have happened in very early hours in the morning.
00:55 They perished, so I set up a brooder with a heat lamp.
00:59 And she was the first one out.
01:01 All the other chicks survived. Managed to keep all the other 10 alive.
01:05 All the other nine went back under the mum, but this one kept coming back out to me.
01:09 And without a lot of persuading, I sort of kept her
01:12 and then put her back in the brooder and started taking her home.
01:15 And the adventure started there.
01:17 Brilliant at entertainment. Sometimes annoying.
01:20 She'll peck your ankles.
01:21 She's got a routine, so like, the things she likes.
01:24 She's clever enough to know when to get out the car and when not to get out the car.
01:27 Like, at different places we go.
01:30 She recognises where we are.
01:32 I think if people could realise how much, how intelligent animals are,
01:36 you know, not just turkeys, but her definitely,
01:39 but maybe we could treat them a little bit better, with more respect sometimes,
01:43 and not just look at them as a dinner.
01:46 I know I still eat meat, but it has changed my opinion of things.
01:52 The brilliant thing is the joy she brings to people, you know, that do see her,
01:56 you know, from children that have never seen an animal.
01:59 I love the bit that she can just make people smile.
02:02 And I think that's, you know, the most special thing about her, you know.
02:06 Whereas a dog would be good for some people, and a cat would be good for other people.
02:10 I do think that the bond you can get with different animals,
02:14 if you treat them well and whatever, is fantastic.
02:18 So, yeah, certainly underrated as an animal that you can, you know, bond with.
