In newly released images from its Euclid telescope, the European Space Agency (ESA) has offered a glimpse of never-seen-before distant galaxies.

00:17 These images together will give us the total structure of the universe up to a look back time of 10 billion years.
00:26 We can follow the evolution of the structure over 10 million years.
00:30 And this is really the aim of Euclid, to make this giant 3D distribution map
00:37 and derive from it the properties of dark matter and dark energy.

00:59 It's all about the origin, the composition, the large scale structure, the fate, as well as the physics of our universe.
01:11 And in that case, dark matter and dark energy have a role in all these elements that I just mentioned.
