00:03 - Michigan State played poorly.
00:05 They had three perimeter players
00:07 who had really, really tough games.
00:11 You had the point guard, A.J. Hogard.
00:15 You had the power forward, Malik Hall.
00:17 They just did not play at their level.
00:21 And it offset a brilliant night
00:24 from one of their teammates.
00:27 And it just became a disappointment for Michigan State.
00:31 And they've got a lot of difficult games to play
00:34 both in the conference and out.
00:36 And so to start off with a home loss,
00:40 even to a team that has a shot at making the NCAAs,
00:43 certainly is one they're not gonna be happy about.
00:47 - No, not at all.
00:48 And you had them in your top five
00:51 for the preseason top 25 that you just put out here
00:54 before the season started.
00:56 But look, that's the one thing about college hoops, Mike,
00:59 that's so different from college football.
01:03 If you lost a game like that in early September
01:05 in college football to a team like James Madison
01:08 from the Sunbelt, it can ruin your year.
01:11 In college basketball, you won't even remember that game
01:15 if Michigan State's at the final four in the Elite Eight.
01:18 Go back and think about that stuff.
01:21 It's a tough loss, but it doesn't derail your entire year.
